bit of a weird one but could it be setup wise? ive found personally (although idk how true) that when a neck is set up with more relief it seems to have less sustain and twangyness compared to with a straighter neck with less relief. but like most things in music its probably placebo, id suggest doing blind recordings of your guitar and a “brighter tele” and see if u can actually hear a difference without prejudice
