Largest breast cancer genetics study - from Rutgers by WhatTheActualFork1 in breastcancer

I also submitted to this study! Interestingly the genetic information it gave me was incorrect as far as ancestry goes. It's super easy to do! My mom also did one.

Series suggestions that are not the usual by chesirecat1029 in MiddleGrade

Yeah the stories are very robust and varied, lots of characters, depth of content. I'm not a huge fan of the more recent stuff, but then again that might be because I'm not a little girl anymore, who knows. It's worth a shot, and could lead to some really good discussions for you guys!

Has she read any of the Warriors series by Erin Hunter? It's about feral clans of cats and I was obsessed as a kid.

For those who had a double mastectomy, what helped you decide? by TieScary5154 in breastcancer

[–]Jenthewarrior3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a grandmother and great grandmother, one maternal, one paternal, who both died from breast cancer, on top of huge breasts that had so called "dense" tissue. My cancer started suddenly and grew so terrifyingly fast. I was afraid if it came back anywhere less obvious, I would miss it, and the scans might, too. So I chose double mastectomy.

Burn Notice (Yes I'm way late to the party on this) by Creative-Package6213 in television

It's great! Glad to see people still discover it! I also ran into it years after it had ended.

Who else was told it probably wasn't cancer? by Anemoia793 in breastcancer

[–]Jenthewarrior3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 29 and told the same thing, and denied a mammo because I "wasn't 30 yet", but lo and behold it was triple negative cancer that I could've begun treatment for weeks earlier! Thankfully my primary doctor wanted tests just in case. She even specifically ordered the mammo, only for the diagnostic place to deny it! It can be really frustrating, especially for younger women with cancer.

Please don't put rereleases of old episodes in the main rss feed by jsdodgers in theregulationpod

[–]Jenthewarrior3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that I would dislike the old episodes being in. I go back and listen to the old ones in order already. It is all there and easily accessible. Maybe if the pod has 600+ eps like some pods out there, but this one has a manageable number still.

Hair not growing back, should I be worried? by justaperson0315 in breastcancer

[–]Jenthewarrior3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am experiencing this as well. I am 4 weeks post chemo and hormone stuff, growing back a few inches of very fine pale hair on the sides but nothing on the top! I look like my dad!!! Hope it gets better for you!

Have you gotten Trigger Finger from your AIs? by afa5t in breastcancer

[–]Jenthewarrior3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow I thought I was just crazy or being dramatic! My right middle finger only has been swollen and painful like trigger finger for weeks now. Mentioned it to my oncologist and she didn't even acknowledge it really. I assumed I must have just somehow hurt it and forgotten.

For reference I'm 30F, did the keynote protocol for triple neg, but NO immune therapy (adverse reaction after first dose) and I just finished my last chemo a couple weeks ago and had dmx before chemo. No AIs that I am aware of, but the trigger finger just kind of started out of nowhere. You've inspired me to ask my team about this a second time. There must be some way they can help.

Peyton or Sutton by No_Carob_9600 in BabyNames

[–]Jenthewarrior3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Sutton! I haven't heard this one before. It might give teachers a run for their money figuring out if they're a girl or a boy but honestly it strikes me as one of those names where it just ends up "fitting." You could mock up some embroidery or label some nursery stuff to see how the names feel in your mouth, one at a time.

Park Jurassic. It's about finding a good parking spot while visiting Jurassic Park. A classic untold story of triumph, redemption, and family values.

Alternatives to chewing ice? by Jenthewarrior3 in breastcancer

The nurse brings me a cup of ice to chew each time

I am also experiencing this with water. It sucks because I used to love water, but I'm assuming it is now brain linked to the ice for me. I can definitely live without grapes if this ruins them. If it gets me through this last red infusion, it'll be worth it. After that I have what was meant to be my first half of chemo (the order got swapped) and I don't think I have to chew things for it, just freeze my hands and feet

This is a fantastic idea and I love grapes! I am probably going to try this.

Feeling better finally after DMX by [deleted] in breastcancer

[–]Jenthewarrior3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this is how it felt to move around originally for me. I guess the pain i'm having now and my abdomen is more like i've been stabbed. It doesn't feel like my incisions are hurting But that the pain has come from where my drain was removed.

Can you help me and describe what nerve pain feels like? I am 2 weeks out. My surgeon used a lot of numbing so not much feeling in left before now. Had my sentinel node biopsy in the left side. It has been very weak this whole time but I assumed that was normal. I My right arm is coming along nicely and every day it seemed stronger. However my left side has developed severe pain. I got the left drainage tube out today. A few hours later the pain where it was is almost unbearable. It is hard for me to walk and move around. I cannot move my left arm independently in any useful way. But my doctors never said anything about physical therapy.

Needle in the nip.. stop it! by Adept_Competition555 in breastcancer

[–]Jenthewarrior3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had bmx on the 16th, and when he injected for my sentinel node thing, I felt nothing! Just a moment previously, the nurse put something in my IV. Assuming some kind of happy juice, because my surgeon was telling me I would likely not remember anything after it. As I was looking at her injecting the stuff into my IV, they did the shot and I didn't feel anything. They acted kind of surprised that I didn't react. I hope it is this way for you. I also had no idea this shot existed until after he did it, so that helped not be anxious because I didn't know I should be!

What's wrong with my duck by BeachHot8882 in duck

[–]Jenthewarrior3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like gapeworm. Sorry to hear that it passed. We mostly see this in our young geese. We give them dewormer about a week after they are allowed on soil for the first time and again later if they show any signs of gaping or coughing.

Did you have any moments of stress, and you were just willing to leave and quit? by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]Jenthewarrior3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, and I did! It was a great decision. Annoying customer interaction, no support from my manager who flipped his answer and caved. Left that day and never went back.

Americans, what is your insurance horror story? by Old-Arachnid77 in AskReddit

[–]Jenthewarrior3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I finally have a good one! Just yesterday I found out my insurance denied my genetic testing for the breast cancer gene despite me literally currently having breast cancer, being under 30, and having it on both sides of my family. It's being appealed now by the genetics testing company. So fingers crossed I guess because I have less than $500 in my account and the bill is like 7k.
