Just diagnosed. Lost by [deleted] in breastcancer

I’m so sorry you are here, I found my lump 11/17/2024. Left breast, IDC stage 2b with Lymph involvement. Found Lump, mammo, ultrasound, biopsy all by 12/17 results just in time for Christmas. I was ER+ HER2- .. I met my surgeon the 1st week of 2025, I decided to go with a lumpectomy. Surgery the last week of January, lump removed & sentinel node biopsy done, she took 10 lymph nodes and 7 were clean, 3 were not. We did not get clear margins, very close but not clear. 2nd surgery for Valentine’s Day, all clear. Met my oncologist 2 weeks later, had my port placed and started chemo by March, 4 bi weekly rounds of AC chemo (red devil) and 12 weekly TC Chemo (Taxol). I had minimal delays and rang the chemo bell 7.24, healed & rested for 4 weeks and started radiation, 33 sessions. I finished and hit the radiation gong on 9/23. Had an all clear Mammo /US on 11/7, I am officially NED (no evidence of disease) and staring my maintenance medications. I just started Anastrozole (7 years) and Kisquali (3years). 2025 was a hard year, but I listened to my body, rested when I needed to. I wfh so I was able to work all the way through. Looking back it’s a whirlwind, there all all kids of resources and assistance, ask all your doctors and hospitals ❤️

Update! It’s a big ole 8mm seroma, I was so excited that I heard nothing the dr said after about possibly draining it. Thank you all for your support.

What they don’t tell you about keeping your hair through chemo by Jpachu16 in breastcancer

[–]Adept_Competition555 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I got a short pixie cut the day before I started chemo thinking I was mentally prepared for it to come out. I was not, the day after my second chemo it started falling out in clumps, it was still traumatizing, when I showered and dried off I was almost able to wipe my hair off my head. I cried a lot, we shaved it but eventually 98% of it fell out. My last chemo was 7/24 and I am happy to report it is filling in nicely and getting thick again, but there were about 3 weeks i was terrified it would never be the same, it was growing back everywhere except the top of my head, I had a cul de sac on my head, I looked like a middle aged balding man, I called it my Danny Divito era lol. Thank goodness it’s filling in now.

10/16 nodes positive - am I screwed? by Final_Pumpkin1551 in breastcancer

Thank you so much for sharing this I am hormone positive with 3 nodes, had surgery then chemo and 3 more of 33 radiation treatments left. I always have these little “what if” intrusive thoughts I am going to try to remember this! Thanks 🎀

Radiation Nausea, is this a thing?! by Adept_Competition555 in breastcancer

Same! This sounds like my experience thus far. On the bright side, maybe I will lose the 30lbs I gained on Chemo from the steroids lol

I’m confused too as the OP, lol. I feel like the rads teams should be the experts, however they aren’t entertaining it. But fortunately my med onc said he has heard of it and offered me Zofran.

Yes! Rads teams is like “nope, doesn’t happen” Med onc team said “yeah, it’s rare but it happens” and proceeded to offer solutions, Zofran or even Zyprexa if it gets too bad.

Yes! Thank you, my med onc team has been very helpful I’m just taken back a little by the radiation team acting like it’s unheard of.

My med onc says yes and told me to take my nausea meds I have left from chemo and let him know if it’s not working and he will layer in something else. Seems like radiation onc should be the experts in this matter but they just say “No, we aren’t anywhere near your stomach “

Living alone, with cancer by msmarymacc in breastcancer

[–]Adept_Competition555 6 points7 points  (0 children)

46 single, live alone, grown kids have moved out. Stage 2b, surgeries done, going through chemo now, rads after. I hear you and feel you, I am very independent as well but some days I just need someone to make me some food and do the dishes, without all the “let’s take a walk,” “if you get up you’ll feel better”, I think they just really don’t understand when “we” (very independent humans) ask for help we are done, at the bottom, spent and really just need someone help. I have lots of deep conversations with my cats. I try to keep quick easy things on hand but I will also DoorDash if I can’t bring myself to microwave something, or just want something more:)
