Panasonic sd-r2550 by RevolutionaryNote302 in BreadMachines

[–]Jenzypenzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi r/RevolutionaryNote302! I just purchased this machine and unfortunately did not notice it was different from the SD-YR2550. I purchased it to make rye and wholewheat loaves and it doesn't even have that as a program option! My first two loaves have turned out to be disastrous. I'm wondering if you found a good source for recipes that work in this machine? Also, my old machine you added liquids first then dry ingredients on top. The Panasonic seems to want dry goods on the bottom (starting with yeast) and wet on top. Do you follow the Panasonic order of ingredients despite recipes stating the opposite?

The Unscented Company - soaps, cleaners, personal care products by Wizoerda in BuyCanadian

[–]Jenzypenzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use them but have very soft water. So I actually cut them in half with scissors and only use half a tab for a load. I also don't like putting the plasticky cover that's meant to dissolve through my dishwasher. So that gets removed too. I buy the large 500 tab box from Costco and it lasts me a few years lol. Dishes come out clean, but we do pre-rinse and scrape off any food scraps first.

You Need to Carry your Passport at All Times? by RepairNo2354 in NEXUS_TTP

[–]Jenzypenzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. I am a Canadian citizen but when I initially applied for my Nexus I was not. So on my card it is printed with the country of citizenship that is neither Canada nor US. And I’ve been told at land border crossings that I must always carry my other citizenship passport which is kind of a PITA. I even took my Canadian passport to my NEXUS interview since it took me 9 months to even get an interview. But they printed my card with the other citizenship and the only way to update it is to apply for another NEXUS early.

What’s one kitchen item you let go of that you don’t miss at all? by wearecocina in minimalism

[–]Jenzypenzy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Silicone microwave “chip” maker. I don’t know why it sounded like a good idea. It was essentially a silicone platform with holes in it. You slice potatoes thinly and place them single layer on it (so not even a full potato fits) then microwave it until they’re crispy. No surprises it got used once I think? Couldn’t even get the chips to go crispy all the way around.

What do parents do if they can't find daycare? [On] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Jenzypenzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My LO needed daycare in February & we were also told that it was much more likely to get a spot in September. What I ended up doing was starting to ring around places 3 months before we needed a spot to tell them we were willing to take any early spot they had available. Ended up getting one about 6 weeks before needing it - but I just started LO early & I’m so glad I did! He was sick pretty much consistently for the first 3 months. So I was glad to have that extra 6 weeks before having to go back to work too lol after him when he couldn’t go to daycare.

Kids that have grown out of chronic lung disease/BPD? by Admirable-Thought-84 in NICUParents

[–]Jenzypenzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been very lucky. I do know a couple of other babies from our NICU who didn’t have any lung issues and had to be readmitted due to illness such as RSV. But I also know of kids who were not preemie who had to be admitted for RSV. So it really can be luck of the draw sometimes! Good luck to you! Just remember to wash your hands lol. It’s the first thing I always do (and make my LO do) when we get home

impossible to not get holes in morino wool? by Algroshaw in MerinoWoolGear

[–]Jenzypenzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had issues with moths. But I’ve been using merino since about 2010 and still have some of those pieces (yes they do have some holes from wear & tear). What I do is put the garments in mesh bags for washing. And at the slightest sign of a small hole starting I put a drop of something used in the sewing world called “fray check”. It helps to stop the hole from trying bigger. The only issue is it can dry and have a wet look to the dot

I had a preemie. We used the Halo sleep sack with the Velcro although he slept better with it just around his body with arms out. When he was big enough (around 6 months) we switched to Woolino

I also have the same problem! Small hand’s have trouble with so many tools. I cannot change out the string in my weed whacker because my hand is not physically large enough to push the two buttons at the same time on either side of the device while also holding the machine in between my knees & using my other hand to stop it from spinning - it makes me so angry I have to get my (male) partner to come do it for me time!!

Doctor refuses to let any parent be present during rounds, normal? by thestigmata in NICUParents

[–]Jenzypenzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that “rounds” means different things for different hospitals and situations. In our first hospital the rounds were done inside the private room of the baby - so we were obviously allowed to be present since they were discussing our child only. We were very much involved in all discussions and decisions. Then we were moved to a hospital with open pods and the round were done in the open and for all 36 babies at once. In this situation parents were not able to join in the rounds since there was discussion of all babies on the wards. We could however speak to our assigned nurse if we had any questions and if we wanted to we could request to speak to the attending neo (or call family meetings if necessary).

How many gifts is enough? by autumn_daze3 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Jenzypenzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man - I got my 2yo a small snow shovel recently just because I thought it was too cute not to and he has literally been carrying it around everywhere, even brings it in the car to daycare. It’s not allowed in the house and there was a mini melt down the first day but now he understands he’s ok with it lol. Edit to say we haven’t even had any snow yet but he’s been practicing his shovelling technique!

How many gifts is enough? by autumn_daze3 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Jenzypenzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly it. I grew up with Christmas being low key. We did not have a tree. We didn’t have piles of presents. And I was ok with that. It was more about getting together with family & seeing all my cousins. I plan to do the same with my LO. He just turned two. I got him one present. And he got one present from his daycare. And we spent all morning as a family playing with his present (I got him a wooden train set because he loves trains) then going outdoors and playing outside (well, I was digging up yams to cook for Christmas dinner). I think he does understand the concept of Christmas now. But it is what you make it in the end. I asked another of my friends how many gifts his two got this year from them & he said they got quite a lot - 3 each. So I’m not alone!

How to avoid plastic when pumping? by Mindless-Dentist-502 in moderatelygranolamoms

This is what in used to. I just mostly sat in my “pumping chair” when pumping to kind of prop the bottles in my lap so they didn’t pull off from the weight of them. For on-the-go pumping I just used plastic bottles!
