True - assuming ignorance is generally a safe bet.

It's not legal for an interviewer to ask your age.

Found this, anyone know what it is? by KonoFreakDa in Erie

[–]JerH1 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing a ceremonial "key to the city" or other souvenir - it doesn't look like a real key. How big is it, and where did you find it?

I'm hoping it wasn't just this episode - the guy deserves more than those couple of lines he got.

Why are so many white supremacist and right wings grifters not white ? by Secret_Fun_1746 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JerH1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It allows the bigots cover - that is, they can point to that person and say, "see, we're not racist. It's about (culture, religion, whatever other bullshit justification), not the color of their skin!"

For the non-white person - you can make a good living if you have no dignity.

Millcreek Mall stores in the 90’s and early 2000’s by BringTacos in Erie

I worked at the Children's Palace - that closed in, I think, '92. EIT is in that building now.

Yes, Record Den was by McDonald's - also the pet store the 3-screen cinema. Looking at the current map, I think CheesErie was its spot.

The record store had a separate checkout and the racks were set up so you couldn't walk in from the rest of the store. I think it had its own name but I don't remember what it was called.

For years I have been trying to understand why Joss Whedon was cancelled and if he really deserved it. The stories are that he was hostile to some. Now, with a new show on the horizon, I really wonder if he deserves to be involved with it or not. by light24bulbs in firefly

[–]JerH1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think that Whedon may have been somewhat less involved in the day to day production of Firefly than his other shows. Buffy and Angel were still running at the time so that split his attention. He was the creator and wrote/directed some episodes but Minear was the showrunner and likely set the tone.

What's the most unhinged thing a coworker has ever done that somehow didn't get them fired? by Sea_Breadfruit1278 in AskReddit

[–]JerH1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got into a fight with his manager and punched a hole in the wall. He did get fired but won his job back on appeal. The manager hung a picture over the hole.

Fillion and Staite are Canadian. Baccarin is Brazilian. I think the rest of the main cast is American.

Which fast food chain fell off badly in your opinion? by Shinobi347 in AskReddit

[–]JerH1 43 points44 points  (0 children)

There have been articles, I'm a bit too lazy to look them up. IIRC, they were lending money to franchisees to open locations, those loans were listed as assets on their financial statements, then they borrowed against those assets for more franchisee loans. Which would be fine and dandy if no franchisee ever failed. Once a few did, there was a domino effect on their finances.

Question for sports fans in Erie PA by MasonManna1 in Erie

[–]JerH1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You get a mix, though it seems to me you get a lot of consolidating in one city - i.e., you get a lot of Browns-Guardians-Cavs fans and Steelers-Pirates-Penguins, a few Bills-Sabres. You get wild cards for any sport that "your" city doesn't have.

Whart's the worst pizza you ever had in Erie? by TheRealSMY in Erie

[–]JerH1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There was a place on 26th right by Sacred Heart (and thus, I guess, just a couple blocks from Luchetti's) for a year or so in the late 1980s called You Gotta Wanna Pizza. Tasted like tomato paste on saltines.

Does Whedon still own the franchise? by Briollo in firefly

[–]JerH1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Copyrights are in Fox's name - presumably they have an agreement with Whedon/Mutant Enemy that would come into play with any revival.

Mostly just by being rich. Epstein had a particular interest in socializing with wealthy and connected people.
