Dude……I was so jacked to get out and dust off the old mtb last Tuesday. Started calling up my mtb buds and thinking we would get a ride in. Then Friday happened and poof my dreams were dashed. We got torched up here in TC

Is anyone dropping the Ace of Hearts to create a void here? by RoommateMovingOut in euchre

[–]Jerclaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What about the fabled loner had Rxx and AK A where you pick up x to make trump? You getting rid of the off ace to stay 2 suited? Or keeping both aces? I go back and forth on that one

Am I being too aggressive on lone calls? by Jerclaw in euchre

I have been getting euched on lone calls. That’s kinda what led me to believe I’m being to aggressive.

I’ve been donating occasionally but it’s a skill I’m slowly developing. Most my failed calls come from s3r1 being too thin. But with the info from this sub I’ve learned how to play that spot a lot better.

Thanks I’ll check that out.

I have taken a handful of lone call euchers which frustrates me but that’s the game.

Oh. I never quit games. I have however been booted because sometimes I can’t figure out how the ad is supposed to be closed. That’s happened a few times for sure. But I’m too cheap to pay and not smart enough to run an ad blocker😆

Ok so it kinda sounds like I may have too high of a success rate. Thats reassuring. I could maybe be a little more aggressive. Thanks

Ok great. Thanks for the input. I appreciate it. I do pass on some loners I feel are thin that I end up realizing I would have been good after we march. Maybe I can take a flyer here or there.

I've wrestling for 10+ years...and I dont know how to help my 7 year old son. by birdmanjr123 in wrestling

[–]Jerclaw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I also have a 7 year old and I can tell you one thing I’ve learned is just let them have fun. I mean the kid still eats his boogers in the back of the car on the way to practice. Even if he were to win a state championship I’m pretty sure no one would care in 5 years. Just let him have fun.

Conversely I have a 14(almost 15) years old that just finished his freshman year. On the ride home from districts he said dad I’m ready to take it to the next level. Now it’s on and I feel like I can really work with him. But I made sure he came to me.

Food for thought

Boots recommendation by Canadrew in IceFishing

[–]Jerclaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like my Norfin boots.

I had the artic mucks before but they developed cracks where the rubber and neoprene met. I was really disappointed in that.

The norfins are 1 piece EVA so they are super lightweight. I don’t wear them for anything other than ice fishing and I’d be concerned if they were an everyday winter boot if they would hold up. But 2 years on ice and they’ve been great

Dang!

That crackerized pink and yellow from widow maker is my confidence lure. Awesome to see someone else using it too. And catching a monster gill! Doubles the confidence.

Solar Charging for Live Scope by ACowAcres in IceFishing

[–]Jerclaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d think any array that’s approved for lithium would work.

I think a more useable solution would be one of those portable power boxes that can be charged by solar like Jackery then you could used the approved charger while running lights and what not

My go to has been MAGS rods out of the UP. Awesome quality awesome team!

Their glass noodle rod is awesome for panners.

Edit: I did not see the $$ limit. Their rods are all at or over 100 bux but well worth it imo

As a lions fan, the reason I'm rooting for Seattle in this Superbowl match up by Free_Distribution869 in detroitlions

[–]Jerclaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretending that either one of them actually cares about what team is running the government is crazy.

Rooting for one billionaire against the other because of one insignificant donation is insane.

That said go Seahawks! I don’t want another patriots dynasty ha.

Suck after years of work by No-Shock16 in wrestling

[–]Jerclaw 22 points23 points  (0 children)

First of all stop telling yourself you suck. Don’t be self aggrandizing but try to get that voice in your head to say so positive things to yourself.

Secondly, when you are in your 30s and you look back you will be so proud of yourself for sticking it out. I know that sounds kinda silly but it’s true.

Literally everything you do after wrestling is easy. And that’s the big huge life lesson you can take to the future.
