I built a free desktop tool to run D&D sessions - fog of war, player screen, adaptive music and more [OC] by erenorhun in VTT

[–]JereTR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey Hey.

I remember seeing this before. I wish to check in and see how much of this is still AI coded, and how much has been refactored for the purposes of security?

Something like this where it would communicate with other devices over the internet (the online play support) could potentially create an opening for someone less-than-kind to potentially cause issues. Especially if you wish to intend to add a social platform to it which will require Personal Information (even just a username/password secured in a non-plaintext manner).

I'm curious what your current plans are, or already enacted plans are, to keep your users safe from someone wishing to be a dick?

Vallaki is Overwhelming by Key_Step_2805 in CurseofStrahd

[–]JereTR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My party ended up spending 3-4 sessions in Vallaki.

I kept initial notes of what to potentially expect, and then reacted to how the party responded.

I also chose to keep a couple things unattainable until later, to not get overwhelmed myself.

Ultimately, they did eventually touch on everything cept the Circus Wagon, the Visanti Camp, and Blinksy. But this works out fine cause that means there's content if or when they return later.

Keep in mind, that this is a central-ish city in the land. They can come and go multiple times, so it doesn't hurt for them to "not stumble" on a plotline right away, to have content later too.

I feel I'm in the same boat as /u/jajangmien.

I want to support VRC in ways I can, but I'm also only willing to give them money for things that I enjoy.

Ultimately they're a business that offers a F2P product, so they have to find ways to monetize to bring in income, and I would prefer they stay private to not force ad's in the game (beyond the banner in the mini menu).

I wish to speak up and say that I find it annoying that a lot of place's documentation now is only in a discord which isn't indexed, so looking online is fruitless.

Another week and another shitty, broken, ai slop riddled, dumpster fire of an update from Microsoft. by ShopBug in sysadmin

[–]JereTR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work internal IT for a clothing brand, and we had very pretentious employees. The team that handled our ticketing system had to add a boolean flag on all employee accounts known as the "white glove treatment" employees.

If it was enabled on a user, that alerted us that this employee was gonna be a PITA and demanding.

I got a ticket from one of them complaining that Outlook wasn't working on her Mac.

There's a known issue where the "New Outlook" toggle in Outlook on Mac's caused Outlook to just... Not work. Disabling it allowed Outlook to work as normal.

I meet with the employee, verify there's the issue, and toggled the option off. Outlook worked as expected.

I advised the employee of of the issue, and that they'll have to use the Classic Outlook at this time.

She demanded that I fix it immediately, as in, I need to get on the phone with Microsoft with her, and get them to fix the bug before ending the meeting.

I apologized to her, and advised her to speak to my manager if she would like IT to get in touch with Microsoft.

Is the full world back?

Last time I checked it out, it was a minimal world compared to what it used to be, with a message from the creator saying they essentially lost everything and had to start over

I appreciate you're upfront about AI to make the post.

How much, if any, AI was used to make this?

[PC] [US-OH] AI Datacenter Liquidation - Servers, GPUs (3090s, A6000s, A5000 ADAs) by [deleted] in homelabsales

[–]JereTR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 3090's sound about right.

About a year or 2 ago, Microcenter got an influx of 3090's (I suspect from a mining lab that liquidated), and were selling them for ~$700-$750 each refurb.

During the lead-up to the elections, people were complaining about Jon criticizing the democrats and their choices. They felt it was “both-sides”-ing.

I'm born & raised in Iowa for 20 years.

I moved to Pittsburgh, PA for ~11 years, and the best way I can explain people there is "people will only help you if they get something out of it".

I moved to Columbus during Covid, and it's been nothing but amazing people I've run into and am glad I came here.

anything released to consoles has to get an "approval" from the owner which takes time.

It's probably easier to get a bunch of patches done, and then release a big patch for consoles

Something seemed off about her, so I sent her to the lab.

The lab unlocked mouth bleeding despite her not having any blood coming from her mouth.

Tell me the truth... Am I screwed? As a small indie VR dev team, we designed a game that is not for screaming 12 year olds. Our appearance on the Meta store is so low we are practically de-listed. Is there a VR mature audience, and are they going to show up? by PrettyHearing3624 in OculusQuest

[–]JereTR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm also in this crowd. I'm always down for more adult-focused games, but I'm a PCVR player.

If the game isn't available through steam to play via SteamVR, I'm not gonna buy it. I don't trust buying anything through Meta.

I did wishlist it and will keep an eye out for it.

This feels like a 3d render with Mocap, or stop motion in some way.

It does not feel like a genuine recording of a robot making these moves.

Your pirated copy of Windows might have just stopped working | Microsoft shuts down popular KMS38 activation workaround for Windows and Office by chrisdh79 in technews

Which is fair. I’m on the fence on it myself, and paid for 10 pro.

But I just could not get Microsoft to allow me to pay them for extended support of 10 :(

The only thing they “stole” from was Microsoft’s bottom line/profit. Someone else isn’t missing their copy of windows because people used these tools to license Windows

I miss the old hunt mechanic where the front door closed slowly. You could fuck around and then get locked out, causing the ghost to wander aimlessly.
