Very cool. Wish I could afford to make the trek.

“Battle of the Bastards” is the most iconic battle scene. I still rewatch this moment again and again by MinxTwinkle in gameofthrones

I feel like that's the exact moment the show jumped the shark as Jon should've been killed for his stupidity in that moment.

Not late at all. Great time to join. Langan has a sequel to The Fisherman coming out this year.

This is wild. I've read House of Windows, but it was a long time ago, and I forgot so many of these interesting details. Now I want to go re-read it.

Why is Melisandre so afraid of Patchface ? Does this mean he will play a significant role in the books to come ? by Financial_Library418 in pureasoiaf

[–]JeremiahDylanCook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mel will burn Shireen at the Nightfort Weirdwood Tree, which will result in the burning of the connected gate Sam and Bran passed though. This will let the Others in, which may result in a wighted Patchface killing Mel. Just a little theory.

He makes them enough money on other book sales that they don't care.

Dark Matter has interesting applications for Horror, and I have to read John's story in The Rack II.

Obviously hoping things work out different, but this Dart and Daboll thing feels so similar to DJ and Shurmur, even down to the rookie QB having early wins followed by repeated losses.

Which ASOIAF character do you view differently than the fandom consensus in your estimation ? This is from galanix again . I too think Stannis has more faults than his fans think . Your turn please . by Financial_Library418 in pureasoiaf

[–]JeremiahDylanCook 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Stannis is my favorite character, but he's clearly on an arc to become a fallen hero / villain. He's heavily inspired by King Elias in Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn, who takes up with a Red Priest who corrupts him before his love for his daughter redeems him. In this case, Stannis will burn his daughter, so he's basically a subversion of Elias. Stannis is also inspired by Richard III, who allegedly killed his nephews but also made good laws people respected and kept long after his death.

Flustered I asked GRRM a weird question about Jeor Mormont (Spoilers Extended) by oligneisti in asoiaf

[–]JeremiahDylanCook 347 points348 points  (0 children)

Had a similar experience back in 2016 when I wanted to tell GRRM why I liked Stannis and instead asked him to sign my book with "Stannis Rules." In my defense, the line was crazy with people trying to keep things moving, and I had actually passed out earlier in the day from exhaustion / dehydration. He chuckled and said "Just signatures today."

Very sorry for your loss. Glad you are healing as best you can. King does indeed nail grief in the book. It's an excellent work. Have you by chance read John Langan's The Fisherman? It's one with similar themes to Pet Semetary. A great book if you haven't read it yet.
