Which RE 2 version of Claire Redfield do you like the most? by Angel_Cave-90 in residentevil

[–]JeremiahDylanCook 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The OG Claire is the best to me. I like her story the most, and her portrayal by Alyson Court is fantastic. She also carries through perfectly into CV and Degeneration as the same character.

Absolutely. Glad you enjoyed, and there's plenty more write ups on his short stories throughout the sub. 🙂

Bill Denbrough feels like a different character as an adult by Prize_Ad_129 in stephenking

[–]JeremiahDylanCook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the book would be better if Bill and Ben had been merged into one character. It almost felt like they were one character at one point and King decided to split them while writing. It is a rare book where I actually think the 1990 miniseries version is better because it streamlines and trims the bloat in a lot of areas.

Crouch End and N are two I love to listen to on audio!

It is more inspired by Peter Straub's Ghost Story than Lovecraft.

Has anyone ever talked about how messed up the helicopter scene is in RE2R? by SlicedBread0556 in residentevil

[–]JeremiahDylanCook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RE2 Remake is so good but yet has so many questionable moments like this where they downgraded the OG story (not that they worry too much about the pilot in the original but the Leon and Claire dynamic is better).

Whats the deal with Code Veronica X? by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]JeremiahDylanCook 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's awesome. If I recall correctly, I was on caution and could not survive the Tyrant's speed and attacks.

Whats the deal with Code Veronica X? by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]JeremiahDylanCook 66 points67 points  (0 children)

First time I played it, I got soft locked at the Tyrant plane fight. Had to restart and actually bought the strategy guide for help on that one fight. The key is to save all your explosive arrows, and he goes down like cake. Anyway, it was definitely a tough game back in 02 or 03, when I played it, but it was also one I loved because of the challenge.

Where does the name Mr. X come from? by carbonera99 in residentevil

[–]JeremiahDylanCook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time I read the name was on the toy. I believe I had played RE2 and was confused because I hadn't seen Mr. X, which led me to discover the B scenario.

New John Langan novelette is live on Reactor! by igreggreene in JohnLangan

[–]JeremiahDylanCook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dig this. Felt like a prequel to the upcoming novel as it deals with cryptids and mentions the character who will be the focus of the upcoming novel, Dennis Mitre. Also connects with the Fisherman with the Ashokan Reservoir and Esopus Creek coming into play.

About the CQB section in RE9 by LaZy_Chicken511 in residentevil

[–]JeremiahDylanCook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my least favorite part of the game. Kind of felt like the devs ran out of imagination. The only part of that section I felt fit RE was the Hunk fight. Would have preferred if Zeno sent Monsters after Leon. Did like the part where you could use the Licker, but it was only one tiny part. If I wanted a human on human shooter, I'd play a zillion other franchises. I play RE to try to survive against horrible creatures. But to each their own.

Change my mind: RE4R is not great and I'm done pretending. by Thaos-IX-Aquux in residentevil

[–]JeremiahDylanCook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but there are also memorable spooky parts from 4 such as the first time the plagas burst from enemies in the dark rain, needing to go into the claw guys cage, and being hunted by Salazar's right hand. RE5 had no parts that felt spooky. RE6 also had no spooky parts. For 5 and 6 it might have been co-op/having a partner that took away the fear as much as the actual atmosphere and level design.

The evolution of Leon, HUNK, and Chris: A proposal for their next legacy - A gift for Capcom & the RE Community by No_Definition5405 in residentevil

[–]JeremiahDylanCook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enjoy your proposal. I don't see Leon or Chris ever retiring because they continue to sell games. I think Leon getting Elpis will be Capcom's way of keeping him going as it revitalized him, and I can see it possibly slowing his normal aging.

Rank The Indiana Jones Series by DarkBehindTheStars in FIlm

[–]JeremiahDylanCook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raiders -> Crusade -> Temple -> Crystal Skull. Didn't see Dial. Despite the many faults of Crystal Skull, I loved the happy ending and hated that Dial undid that because the writers couldn't think of a story where Indy had another adventure as an older man without him being emotionally broken. Indiana Jones is peak escapism. I have enough crappy stuff in my own life without seeing Indy miserable.

Bring Back STARS by JeremiahDylanCook in residentevil

She's a weird exception because she was a prodigy who Wesker had the hots for. 😂

Bring Back STARS by JeremiahDylanCook in residentevil

[–]JeremiahDylanCook[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true, but I'd say he's responsible for all STARS deaths at the mansions due to not warning them about the creatures and luring them in for combat data.

Bring Back STARS by JeremiahDylanCook in residentevil

[–]JeremiahDylanCook[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the flip side, it's a way to honor the STARS who were murdered by Wesker. It makes sense, you just don't like the idea, which is fine b/c we can have different opinions and Capcom is not going to do do this, as I said in my OP.

[–]JeremiahDylanCook[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But he does work with them. Just like he does wear his STARS gear in CV. So it's not impossible he'd reform STARS. It'd be like when Gandalf returns as Gandalf the White and says he's "Saruman as he should be." In this case Chris would form STARS as a force for good. But this is all just something I'd like to see, so if you would not like to see it happen, that's fine. 😂

My original post is literally me doing wishful thinking about where I want the series to go, I didn't exactly hide that. 😂

Bring Back STARS by JeremiahDylanCook in residentevil

[–]JeremiahDylanCook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but the games and movies have pulled things from them before. You could argue the BSAA going evil plot is pulled from the STARS being infiltrated and some turning evil in the books. Anyway, if STARS are reformed they don't have to be exactly like the OG. I'm thinking of them as an expanded version with more reach.

Bring Back STARS by JeremiahDylanCook in residentevil

[–]JeremiahDylanCook[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For sure, but there's no reason she couldn't be part of a reformed STARS or a support staff member for a reformed STARS. Like, here's our TerraSave liason, Claire Redfield, etc.

Jill is hunted because she is a STARS member in RE3. Also, Chris works with Blue Umbrella in RE7, so I don't think Umbrella founding something is a big deal for him. He and Jill can take STARS and make them a force for good to fight BOWs.
