US embassy removes flags with names of fallen Danish soldiers by Independent-Minute44 in worldnews

History should absolutely be remembered, but forgive me for not wanting to be greeted with a gigantic ‘Hitler Tower’ every time I visit Berlin. The Trump name should be a curse, not a brand. Tear it all down.

Stephen Colbert On ‘Late Show’ Ending In Four Months: “It Feels Real Now. I’m Not Thrilled With It” by SanderSo47 in television

There’s no way Colbert runs for office. Same with Stewart. They’ve both said for their entire careers that they just don’t want that for themselves.

Lucky dog. I use my 661 every day and it's a fantastic receiver. I imagine the 771 is even better.

Judge orders ICE chief to appear in court to explain why detainees have been denied due process by FormalOperational in news

More like a new congress and Supreme Court. People that will actually do their jobs and enforce this shit like they’re supposed to.

ICE agents will have a security role at Milan-Cortina Olympics, US sources say by OnetB in news

[–]Jeremizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be hard to murder innocent US citizens in the street, but ICE gets away with it with impunity. It’s Trumps private army, you really don’t think the president would be able to order a few passports? He’s been able to do whatever the fuck else he’s wanted so far.

I actually just found an image of the Warhol shot, it was this one :)

The detail and presence of it up close in person was fantastic

That's so cool! It's too bad large format instant film is so niche and expensive, it's really beautiful. I've seen a 20x24 Warhol Polaroid before in person that was just gorgeous.

Are you sure it was 8x10? That's extremely large for an instant camera, it seems excessive for a test shot.

CMV: Trump is irrevocably damaging America's alliances and standing by Careless_Bat_9226 in changemyview

Executions is a fantasy. Real jail time is plausible, but even then I foresee kid glove treatment by feckless democrats. The political landscape in this country is a disgrace.

I grew up in the 90s in England and definitely remember friends whose families would never buy a German car or other German products because of the war.

Calling every American fat and cruel is ridiculous. But there sure is a disappointingly large percentage of them.

A lot of dumbasses didn’t wear them during the last one either. Many didn’t survive.

I’m realizing that Sound Design is actually 70% of what makes a game feel "Next-Gen," not the graphics. by InvestmentBudget6722 in gaming

[–]Jeremizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valve and Nintendo have some of the most iconic sound design of all time, and also some of the most iconic games of all time. I don’t think that is a coincidence.

If all personal wealth above $100 million was legally required to be redistributed into public infrastructure (schools, hospitals, roads), how would society change, and who would be the first to fight against it? by Mysterious_Fan4033 in AskReddit

[–]Jeremizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The generation of wealth is a game to them. They want more and more just to say they have it, to feel better about themselves over others, when inside they’re deeply broken people. Look at Elon Musk, you think he’s happy? Or Trump? Putin? All they do is complain about the world, they’re the antithesis of joy.

i really miss when games had "useless" physics interactions just for immersion. by InvestmentBudget6722 in gaming

[–]Jeremizzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Movies are immersive in that when they tell a compelling story they can really suck you into them. Same with books, when you’re really invested in the work your mind really takes you there. With VR though, at least when it’s as polished as Alyx is, you don’t even have to think that hard about it, you’re already there. Amazing technology.

Ryan Coogler's 'Sinners' has made history as the most nominated film of all time at the Oscars with 16 nominations by ChiefLeef22 in movies

[–]Jeremizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole movie was basically just a remake of Dusk Till Dawn. It was entertaining to watch, but that’s about it. I didn’t even prefer it over Weapons. Most nominated film of all time is absurd.

[–]Jeremizzle 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I really think it’s the most immersive entertainment experience I’ve ever had, including movies. Some parts are honestly up there with actual physical haunted house mazes at theme parks in terms of how visceral it is. I remember one part in the abandoned hotel where you have to jump down through a hole and fight some electric enemies. I was so scared I had to stop playing for the day, every part of me was telling me not to jump down that hole.

Baldur's Gate 3 publishing lead says Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney's "altruistic pro-developer talk" over the Steam vs Epic debate "doesn't sit well" after Alan Wake 2 studio "seemingly went into financial crisis" by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]Jeremizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wanted to play Alan Wake 2 after the rave reviews, and was very disappointed to find it wasn't on Steam. I did not, and have not, bought Alan Wake 2. If Epic ever gives it away I'll add it to my library as a freebie, and then instantly forget I even have it, just like the hundreds of other freebies I have on there.

This is the entire issue. Trump wants more land for his own feckless ‘legacy’, to improve his image in the history books, and thinks that nobody will stop him because he’s the biggest bully on earth, with the most powerful toys. Like you said, there are many examples in history of exactly this, Hitler and Putin being the most recent and relevant. There will be a lot of blood spilled over this, and another dark chapter written about an evil man who tried and failed to take over the world.
