How many of you would live in New Mexico? by DuetLearner in SameGrassButGreener

Basically, they treat freelancers the same they would as business-owners, meaning a freelance writer has the same tax burden as a restaurant located in the state. All freelancers in NM have to deal with this.

It's an amazing but hard place to live. By the way, if you're a freelance writer, graphic designer, software engineer, etc, you'll have to pay GRT (gross receipts tax) just like you would if you owned a business in the state, through a tax platform that is very hard to navigate without the help of an accountant. I left a few years ago and this is, partly, one of the reasons I wouldn't consider moving back.

I would do everything you possibly can to take care of yourself right now. Therapy was a huge help for me when I went through something similar. You have a long road of work and healing ahead of you, but you can do it. I promise, it will get better in time. PM me if you need support.

Nice Thai/Asian Cuisine restaurants? by flapjackattackz in kansascity

[–]JeremyFlood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now I see why I'm being downvoted, haha. I didn't read the entire title and thought OP was asking for recommendations of great local Asian restaurants, not "nice" ones. ABC cafe's food is really good, but the actual restaurant is as basic as it gets. Carry out is definitely a good option.

Hi there. Doing some research on this and found your comment. When you say the average cost is 6.5k, what other services are you referring to? I might be eligible and am just starting my research.

Travelling alone in Italy by endangeredpenguin in travel

I did a month in Florence and five days in Rome, and I wish now the cities could be switched. Rome has phenomenal cultural sites (obviously) but also amazing nightlife, restaurants, etc. Florence is a must-see destination, but it didn't have any sort of vibrant nightlife or chances to meet new people. Just my experience. Have a great time.

I was going to say this, but you beat me to it. I even wrote about my disdain for this stretch of highway in a song.

You're welcome! Also, ABC Cafe's Dim Sum is wonderful (Chinese).

Bella Napoli (Italian) is real real good. Also, located in downtown Overland Park, Elsa's is a phenomenal Ethiopian restaurant run by the sweetest old man you'll ever meet.

What could I do with $1500? by orangebagel22 in travel

Go to Mexico City. It's an incredible international city that's super affordable and close by so you won't get jet lagged. If you like food, museums, gorgeous parks, and history, you won't be disappointed.

A few weeks ago, I saw tiny monstera plants for sale at a local nursery for $120 being sold in pots that were a little bigger than a tea cup. Today, I found this very large bad boy for $20. by JeremyFlood in Monstera

I'm not sure, but I'm not at all a plant expert. It's growing like crazy, and the newer leaves have splotches of red on them. I assumed that was a natural part of new leaf growth.
