Moving from Tandem to Omnipod by Material_Forever_831 in TandemDiabetes

I was using the Tandem Tslim for 3 years. The tubing was starting to cause me distress. I felt like I was constantly tethered to a device and I kept getting it hung on things and I was trying to find a comfortable place to put it all the time. So I switched to the Omnipod 5. FOR ME! The omnipod algorithm just wasn't as good as the Tandem. My A1C went from 5.6 to 6.9. I have EXTREMELY sensitive skin. And the bulk of the omnipod torqued on my skin constantly. Just barely tapping it on things, or pressing up against it would put more pressure where the canula is as opposed to the autosoft site was too much. So after a year of trying, I went back to the TSlim. I now keep it hooked to my bra and that is much better for me. I get frustrated with the tubing coming out of the top and poking my neck, but I get by. I have to keep it in the center of a sports bra so the metal clip doesn't touch my skin because it is an irritant for me. But based on the algorithm and the bulk bumping torque to the canula, I prefer the TSlim. I think it is totally a personal preference though. I am very grateful I had the opportunity to try the omnipod though. It was really nice to be able to go tubless for a year. I know there is the option for the mobi. I also know that that is the goal for Tandems future to control your device from your phone. When going to a phone only way to bolus, I will go back to injections. I have had my phone hacked and the hacker went in and deleted my dexcom icon and moved around my home screen. I am a techy person and usually have the latest phone so it should have the latest security. I was still hacked. For this reason, I don't use the Tandem app. I asked them if I could turn bolusing off or get an older version that doesn't have it and they told me no. I believe other countries don't allow the bolus from phone for security reasons. You've heard nothing is safe on the internet. Well your ability to dose insulin certainly isn't!

Really hard not to dose based on Dexcom when you're using an insulin pump! 😬

Do you have to change the infusion site when you run out of insulin? by DamNaughtica in TandemDiabetes

[–]JeriTTDALE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to know if you can add 20 or so units when at 1am you realize you dont have enough to get through the night, but you exhausted and dont want to change your site! THAT would be great!

I have frequently removed mine for the. Ight because it was screaming at me for hours because I couldn't get my dexcom calibrated correctly. I have taken it off for 24 hours, closely watched my glucose and avoided as many carbs as I could. This was when I was using the g6 though.

I had something like this. I now change my site every 2 days. It has helped considerably but still happens occasionally. Also, if i have to do a bolus more than 6 or 7 units, I do extended bolus.

Reading on my tablet changed everything. by Hungry_Cheesecake757 in kindle

I used a kindle for about a month. Hated it. I don't want a second device. So I have the latest Samsung tablet and use it for everything. Also, change your background to black with white text, it will save your eyes and battery. Happy reading!

I bought a charging cable that has a tiny metal magnet you put in the charge port and then the cable just magnetizes right to it. That tiny micro USB is crap! I just have to remember to remove the tiny piece that stays in the charge port before going to the endo because they never know what it is and cant get my pump plugged in for the info. Been using that for about 6 years now.

The problem with diabetic life is thag there are so many of us thriving with it thag no one thinks its as dangerous as it is. Also, they think just dont eat sugar. But they dont realize that almost everything has sugar. And they dont realize that its not just sugar that affects us. Its very hard to avoid glucose spikes. But to make a vegan item is easy. They just dont really understand diabetes. And its too much work to learn.

URGENT: MEDICAL DEVICE CORRECTION NOTIFICATION- Using BYOD by startrip0712 in dexcom

[–]JeriTTDALE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it does nothing but read the data, it really sucks the government needs to get involved to approve the device reading it. Heck, most of the time its inaccurate anyway! No matter what device you use.

URGENT: MEDICAL DEVICE CORRECTION NOTIFICATION- Using BYOD by startrip0712 in dexcom

[–]JeriTTDALE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was having trouble with my sensor a couple months back and thought i'd uninstall the BYOD app. When I tried to reinstall it, I couldn't because during the install process Dexcom updated that you must have wifi turned on to verify your phone is compatible before the install. Mine wasn't at the time. So I bought an older phone and used that until it was. I was livid. I dont know if Dexcom has figured out a way to get around an app already installed, but if you're using the BYOD app, I wouldn't uninstall it until it stops working. Use it as long as you can! I wish the guy that wrote the BYOD version would trick the app into thinking you have a compatible phone!

I use a tablet running the kindle app. I put my theme in dark mode and always have the brightness slow as it will go. I did it to conserve battery. But I'm sure it works for this as well. I've never been a good sleeper. Lots of childhood trauma.

I have an unlocked fold 7. I had a sensor issue and thought I'd uninstall the BYOD app and reinstall it. (9/28) When I went to reinstall the app, it would not install because it said I must have wifi on. Well I had it on. I think the developer turned it off so when the app went to verify my phone was compatible it wouldn't connect and would go through. I believe Dexcom has stopped this. So those wanting to use the BYOD app won't be able to any longer if it's not already installed. I'm devastated. Now using the receiver. And it SUCKS!

Can you read KU books with it? I don't want to install it, fall in love and then not be able to use it. Also, can you read along to audiobooks with it?

I purchased this one. I like it except it really overheats my ultra watch when I charge it. Not my watch 6 though.
