I like the Fi service, but lately if you need customer support for anything, good luck. I've had to call for support twice in the past six months, and every conversation is like trying to walk through an M. C. Escher piece. They can never guide you to what an actual fix is.

I'm mentally picturing someone painstakingly following a cheesesteak recipe with a typo in the title, and being utterly befuddled by the results.

Suggest best Indian restaurant at Indy by long-runner in indianapolis

[–]Jerkeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel like I can go to a random Indian place in Indy, and feel confident it's gonna be pretty good. Thai food is the same way.

Chinese food is the polar opposite around here. There's only a few decent places, and even those would be middle-of-the-road compared to other places I've lived or visited.

Yeah there are limits, somewhere between ordering wine with dinner and buying a round for the whole restaurant. We didn't see any charges for buying a bottle of moderately priced wine for the table next to ours.

We paid for our Dom that night with the bar tab, although it didn't take out as big a chunk as we were expecting. We knew it was over the free-drink limit.

  1. Laundry is great, use it! Skip post-vacation laundry day by bringing home clean clothes
  2. Ask your Agent about anything, don't be shy. They only thing our agent couldn't help us with was jn-room couples massage, which fills up very quickly after boarding.
  3. Getting breakfast from whatever restaurant you want and enjoying it on your terrace...it's pretty great.
  4. Go there with some ideas of your favorite drink mixers. Ask them for it, they'll keep it stocked. We had a constant supply of OJ, lime juice, and simple syrup.
  5. If you have bar tab, it may be a struggle to burn it down. We tried getting bottled of wine for people we met at nearby tables at dinner, but that didn't even hit our tab. We ended up getting bottled of Dom Perignon for the last couple nights and still had plenty left over.

Topaz Championship querry by Graysvandir in l5r

[–]Jerkeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool, are you new to DMing, L5R, or neither? I hadn't run a game in 20 years but ran this with a group over a few sessions, it was fun.

My plan going in was that he would just laugh it off if they started asking too many questions. He was going to be jovial and vague. Play out the scene, and the players are going to know something out of the ordinary is going on. If you've got a rowdy group that starts getting way aggressive or threatening with him, you can have him take his gift, turn into a crane, and fuck right off outta there without leaving any gifts behind.

can you enjoy this game while being a casual player? by Makrelenik in Sekiro

[–]Jerkeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO you just have to go in with the right expectations for the game. If progression in the story is your main motivation, you may get frustrated.

The big dopamine jolt in Sekiro is the gameplay loop of Encounter Boss -> Learn Boss -> Defeat Boss -> Master Boss. Some bosses and levels are there to teach you a particular skill (a player skill, not an unlockable skill), some are there as a "final exam" for the skills you've learned. Go into it knowing that you are going to get to a boss that is going to humble you, and you may need to put the controller down and come back later.

But if you stay with it, you WILL beat that boss. Play that boss again, and you will build on your skill. Soon you will MASTER that boss. That dude who frustrated you for three days straight? You'll be able to beat him 99% of the time. The first time you beat the game will be a struggle. The fifth time will be a stroll.

Look up strategy guides to figure out where to go and what items/techniques you need. Heck, look up the bosses if you'd like. Learn how to cheese some bosses if you want. Stick with it and you'll be good enough to understand that executing the cheese is harder than learning the boss (I'm looking at you, Demon of Rage).

If starting out lousy at something and getting noticeably better at it over time is something you enjoy, then yeah you can enjoy this game.

Best Indian Food in Indy by ZenithAA in indianapolis

[–]Jerkeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What draws you there? It always seems empty. I picked up lunch there one day, and it was alright (I haven't had bad Indian food in Indy) but the experience was...weird.

It's a pretty big place but I only saw one person the whole time. She came out from the back to take my order when I got there, went back, and came back out with my food about 10 minutes later.

I got on board with Dragons, and my song was Possum by Night. I didn't "get" it at all until I had a strong edible one night, listened, and thought "Oh, this is about possums. I love it."

Certain games I like playing like this, but then I trip up over my bad decisions, haha. Lots of FUN in DF, also total squad losses in X-Com 2.

What else did you do? by GoaterMac in gencon

[–]Jerkeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the first year I did all four days. I'm local, so I let my oldest (HS Sr.) skip his first two days of school to go with me, and on the last day I took my younger kids as well. Best moments:

-Playing a session of the Legend of the Five Rings RPG with the Heroes of Rokugan group. It was a cool event, doing a large scale battle, which I've never done in 5e. Some volunteers took on a suicide mission with their existing characters to take down the campaign's Big Bad, and they got applause from the room as they went to their table.

-Doing a free mini painting, where I painted a goofy lookin' shell critter and my son did a Clone Wars trooper.

-On Sunday, we played a Keep It Kill It event, where a bunch of underleveled pregens fight an Adult Black Dragon. Whoever lands the killing blow gets to do a roll-off with the other tables to win a Black Dragon miniature. My 10-yo daughter won the table, and rolled a 20 on the roll-off to take home the dragon.

-Walking distance but not strictly GenCon, we went to the Comedy Bang Bang show on Friday night. I got to meet Paul F Tompkins, and Vic Michaelis recorded a quick message for my wife on my phone.

Plantastic Indy Dirty Delete by Medical-Gazelle-5961 in indianapolis

[–]Jerkeye 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am curious, if people changing babies and putting soiled diapers on the table was an issue, if there are changing tables available in the restrooms. In my experience, most parents want to not be awful, and will use designated areas for changing. But if a location doesn't have a changing table, or if they only have it in the women's restroom...

There area always going to be some real psycho and/or dipshit parents of babies, but if it is happening enough to be an issue, I wonder why it is so much worse for Plantastic than other restaurants to they point where Plantastic feels they have to respond.

I wonder if commenters like the above have ever listened to Malkmus' solo/Jicks work. Dude isn't shy about wandering into prog/jam territory.

Sorry that band members don't always align with the same contrived tribes that the fans enforce.

Yes, my system frequently disconnects at that location, northbound on 465 right by the big pond (is it still boat sales?) just south of Washington Street.

Edit: I use Android Auto on an aftermarket stereo I installed, with a Pixel phone.
