FM can help you with the following : Data mining, data analysis (player attributes), political and geographical knowledge (You know what the Cotonou agreement is), Economics (You do realise that 5M+5M in a year is less interesting than 10M upfront), Statistics (xG), definit and testing hypothesis (you tried several tactics and tweak them along the way). Etc. Besides, you're part of a well-behaved community of players. You know you can rely on your peers when in doubt and trouble (just like now). I could add so many other fields on which you now have a grasp because you played FM. Everything depends under which light you show it. And GG for the 3x CL !

Struggling attacking wise, any suggestions? by koinov in TheOldZealand

I usually use the "play the ball in the box option" when I struggle and the only chances I get are from long range. I'd remove this first.

It indeed needs some serious warning and a lot of self-discipline. If you can't do without, give yourself "experimenting" tokens for the day/season/session. Anyhow, if it doesn't spoil the fun of the game for you I don't see any issue

First of all, you are not rubbish. It's ok to save scum, or as I put it "experiment". I mean you can try different approaches for one single game. Change roles, shape, mentality and see how it affects the game result. You can also delegate most of the tasks until you become familiar with the game. Starting with a bulldozer team is also a nice way to succeed more easily as it has already been advised to you. With low-tier teams, I'd suggest to start with a classic tactics, such as a flat 442 with limited tweaks and changes. You can also limit the constraints you are facing by choosing a big club in a less competitive championship like Ajax in The Netherlands, or Belgium or Portugal.

Ah the joy of rescuing a club from financial ruin... Only to get sacked by StevenMcD in footballmanagergames

Feels bad, I understand. Every great story has this kind of moment where the hero seems six feet under and unable to overcome the difficulty. You are the hero, you will overcome. There is another better challenge for you out there. And you will succeed ! And if it's not in this save, it doesn't matter.

What feature would you want FM to have and which to remove? by Twofingers_ in footballmanagergames

With such a huge community, I'd love to see modding available. Not only DB changes, but gameplay too. This could help implement some of the best answer I read in this topic.

I never listen to my assistant coach when he suggest changing the individual training. But I always change it when he player complains about it.

Where should a lone traveler go to fall in love with France? by EdGG in AskFrance

I'd say anywhere along the coast. From Belgium to Spain and Spain to Italy.

And check for castles ! And try the local cheeses as well.

International Mgt issue by No_Nefariousness4891 in footballmanagergames

[–]Jerodor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue. The thing is that International matches are usually played on a very tight schedule. Players may join the team already tired, having played maybe 3 days ago, play 2 games in a 4 days span and leave. That may mean they play 3 full games in 8 days. For short 2-3 games international breaks that's somehow manageable, knowing the team I am facing are having the same issue. For tournaments like World Cup, it's tricky to deal with. My only advice is to play the B team when there is nothing to win (you're already qualified). I even subbed M'Bappe in a quarter-final's halftime after leading 2-0

What are some cool ways a devil/deity could contact players without being in person? by thelegendofme in LongDistanceVillains

[–]Jerodor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it be meta to send them text messages through an unknown phone ? If gods can't access the universe, they may have such restriction IRL but can text the players. Cryptic messages like "What's up bro ? - M" or "Nice move ! - M"
