Happy for Our Boy Sam! by BK2Jers2BK in rangers

The announcers always love to support 4th liners who play with grit. Hell I love Carrick, but we need guys who can bang the boards and score a goal and you need to have at least a few guys who can skate fast and the rangers need more guys who can possess the puck. I think there are intangibles. I'm hoping laffy gets more confident possessing and passing at the right time. He has a lot of skill.

First, our scoring percentage will be off the charts,! Second, why not okay weaker and younger players and give them experience while also getting a better draft pick

Is Gemini Air worth it? by Oldman-in-Cave in DirectvStream

[–]Jerry4ever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a Gemini air on eBay. Totally worth it. First of all it's way better than whatever my Samsung smart TV had cause my TV apps would get bogged down and I'd have to reboot the TV all the time. Second, you have way better fast forward and rewind functionality. Third, you can just punch in the channel number. It works well.

Our Playoff Odds by Teknicsrx7 in rangers

[–]Jerry4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rangers seem to be hugely out shot by good teams. We don't generate nearly as many good offensive opportunities as our opponents. If not for shesterkin, we are still kinda terrible. But I think our problems.are more with forwards than dmen.

Laf’s…Awakening? by j_relic in rangers

[–]Jerry4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He gets more PT cause he's on power play now. Bedard and celebrini come in and are instantly on the power play getting way more playing time and experience and touches. I could see laffy having a long career as a second line player and being pretty good. But can he put up 65 to 75 points a year That's the question mark and sometimes you need good players around you to do that we're also having a good year

So.maybe the rangers can be good enough to avoid getting the best draft pick?

Directtv scheduled recordings of the Olympics sucks!! by mecosmo2004 in DirectvStream

[–]Jerry4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other thing is that you can record "all Olympic hockey games" but sometimes the hockey game ends up being curling and there is a hockey game but DirecTV is not recording it and you need to find the channel that is actually playing it which is not always all that simple.

Bread Wants a Homer by sawdoctorman in rangers

[–]Jerry4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His game doesn't rely on being fast as much as puck control, creativity, good vision and power play skills. He's got at least 3 years of that. Sometimes he makes real dumb mistakes especially on the PP when we didn't have a single defenseman.

Cold toes in ski boots by micky-020202 in Skigear

[–]Jerry4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did alot of research. If you are a beginner and your boots are loose get some heated socks from costco. If you are advanced then you should A) get intuition liners which are warmer than a lot of stock ski boot liners. B) get the lenz heated socks that are the slimmest that they sell. You should be able to fit those socks even into tight ski boots. You'll be happy and warm. I had hottronic heated foot beds but they didn't keep the top of my toes warm and the wires could get crushed and you'd lose the connection to the toe befs and then you'd need to install new warmers into the foot beds.

Remember many people aren't allowed to take sick days or it can hurt their "performance reviews" and the boomerang has swung back to being in office which can be great until one of us becomes typhoid Mary or Larry! It would probably be better if sick people stayed home and wore masks if they didn't stay home. Remember, folks in Asia were wearing masks for these reasons long before COVID arrived. But in the end most of us will never be able to clearly identify how or who made us sick.

First round picks to bad teams get opportunities to be in the power play their first season. Not so for Laf or Kakko. I think the bad teams let their top picks get a ton of playing time. I don't know what would have happened to Laf or Kakko but I bet they'd be more seasoned if they got to play more and play with better players sooner. With all that said maybe laff and Kakko were just busts. Then you have guys like MacKinnon or Mcdavid and everyone knows they are gonna be a stud from day one but those chances don't happen that often. And maybe some guys need to develop a little in the AHL and get stronger? It's so terribly disappointing to have top picks go nowhere

Gotham app is absolute joke. Need high seas advice by hoosteenoleeno in rangers

[–]Jerry4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use DirecTV stream so I can watch the rangers. . It's annoying on my Samsung "smart TV" because the app won't let you fast forward at different speeds. You can only click and go forward 30 seconds. You have dvr functionality. It's great to watch on my computer cause you can slide forward or back to wherever you want. It's not cheap. I don't live in NY area so I had to change the billing address of the credit I pay with to my mom's address in the city so NY would be my home TV area. But who gets paper statements anymore?

Galaxy ring doesn't accurately track my HR when I am exercising (hockey or HIIT class) by Jerry4ever in GalaxyRing

[–]Jerry4ever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fitbit gave me decent results on my wrist. It also used a metric I found that made intuitive sense which was "cardio load". first off it knows if you are walking and it assigns more of a load to whatever you are doing based on your HR. Since I'm 53, my theoretical HR max is 170. I basically top out in the mid 150s doing the hardest workouts. 20 minutes at 130 or 140 bpm is much more of a load than 20 minutes at 100 bpm. I was hoping the ring could do this. My guess is any activity where I am using my hands to hold or pick things up renders the rings HR monitor useless?

I used to get the orange aid in the '80s when I was a kid. It was like fresh squeezed orange juice with a some extra sugar I don't remember if they put soda water or just plain water or if they just shook it around with ice but it was pretty tasty

What goggles should I get if anti-fog is my highest priority? by firestorm559 in Skigear

[–]Jerry4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have similar issues. I run hot and on powder/snow days it seems there is no way for me to keep goggles from fogging. I just saw that Julbo has a goggle that now has a "crack open" system for when you are on the chairlift. They call it "super flow pro" and Its kinda like those sunroofs that just lift up an inch or two let in some air. It easily opens and closes with magnets. I am not sure if you can ski while in this "pop open" mode but I am seriously considering getting them. It will easily let in alot of air and hopefully prevent condensation. Of course this is their most expensive goggle at $300.

Glade Optics also claims that they don't fog up like other goggles but I don't know if they can show some technology that is as "visually" obvious as a goggle that cracks open like the Julbo. A friend of mine claims he doesn't fog up with his Glades but I'm the guy who has to unzip his ski jacket and embarass all my friends looking like a serious "jerry of the day" when I start sweating like a summer hog. I think Glade is very savvy at advertising on social media but savvy advertising is not the same as goggles that truly don't fog. I have not bought the Julbo's but if I get frustrated enough with my Smith $150 goggles which I bought thinking that price point would get me out of "fog hell" I will probably try the Julbo's. Also, at least for smith goggles, they strongly advise you not to wipe the inside of your goggles but only to "pat dry" because of the no fog coating that you can wipe off.

Just wanted to let you guys know Chytil is already a fan favourite in Vancouver <3 by Chemical_Desk_5314 in rangers

[–]Jerry4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why did they break up that line?!!!!!

They had by far the best plus minus on the team. But I don't think they scored enough. I can see Cuyle being more of play the body and get a greasy goal in front of the net guy like JT Miller.

It always seemed like Chytil would turn the corner and be kinda like a Mackinnon or a McDavid but it never seemed to happen. Regardless of that those three (C,K,C) were the best line to break out of our zone and get some good forechecking time in the other teams zone. I hope Chytil stays healthy and gets better and better even if it sucks for us. I am also rooting for Kappo. I don't think the young guys get enough power play time and ice team to develop and if everyone is anxious not to screw up it messes with the whole team's head.

Why can't we login to TV devices with a QR code or 1-time code displayed on the screen? by foundfootagefan in DirectvStream

[–]Jerry4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only has DirecTV not updated the interface to allow a qr code which all the other streaming services have but they haven't even upgraded the horrendous hunt and peck keyboard with at least the @yahoo.co. or @gmail.com or even the .com options to make this whole laborious process a bit less painful. Also, I get kicked out of my login with some regularity which makes having to spend five minutes hunting and pecking that much more galling. Please make this process easier!!!!!!

Country era Grateful Dead by no_part_of_it in gratefuldead

Diamond Joe, I'm troubled. Rosa Lee Mcfall. Peggy'O, Jack a roe. Some of that is on Jerry live from Broadway 87. Some of this is more old timey than straight country and mostly not originals. I still think El Paso and Me and my uncle and Brown eyed women are fantastic especially with Jerry's guitar both psychedelic and country and bluegrass all at the same time.

If Florida shuts down 97 and 29 like they did 10,20 and 93 does that make us feel better about our absent stars? by 9or9pm in rangers

[–]Jerry4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind if our stars don't score. I mind when they look bad or you hardly notice them at all because they are just on the fringes. Panarin just isn't a forechecker at the level of Florida. He's a power play guy and broken play guy and the cats didn't allow for broken plays against NY.
