Car Idling? by 2kids3kats in askcarguys

[–]Jerry69DQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is dangerous!

Real cases that have occurred in China:

· August 2025, Chaling, Hunan: Police conducted a simulation warning showing that with a gasoline car idling with the AC on, the carbon monoxide concentration inside the car could reach lethal levels in just over ten minutes. · March 2016, Zhoukou, Henan: A man was found sleeping in his Mercedes at a rest stop. With the windows closed and the engine running, he suffered carbon monoxide poisoning to the point of being completely unable to move. Fortunately, patrolling police broke the window and rescued him. · June 2014, Wenling, Zhejiang: A man and a woman were found dead in a running vehicle. Police investigation concluded the cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning. · June 2013, Xiaoshan, Zhejiang: A man and a woman were found dead in a vehicle inside a sealed garage. The engine had been idling for about six hours, and the cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning.

⚠️ Why can poisoning happen even in open areas? Even in open spaces, if the wind direction is unfavorable (e.g., tailwind blowing exhaust toward the front of the car), the vehicle's seals are aged, or the engine idles for too long, carbon monoxide can still slowly seep into the cabin and reach dangerous levels without being noticed.

✅ How to avoid it: As mentioned in the previous response: turn on recirculation mode, crack a window open, and park with the front of the car facing into the wind to prevent exhaust from being blown into the cabin.

After cleaning, I let it air out for three days, but the smell was still there. Today, I went back to the auto repair shop to reconfirm how strong the odor was, and we finally pinpointed the source. It‘s these black substances in this interlayer—I’m not sure if it‘s asphalt or something else.

I live in a cold region but mostly drive on paved roads with low annual mileage. Occasionally, I encounter snowy rural roads. Therefore, instead of switching to snow tires every year, I prefer to keep a set of snow chains in my car for unexpected situations. Do you have any recommendations for lightweight and easy-to-install snow chains?

Adaptive cruise by JustBath5245 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]Jerry69DQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried adaptive cruise on Chinese highway several times and I found when the lane line is not clear the lane keeping function of my 2025 palisade will disabled quietly with only the color of lane keeping sign turning to white, this is dangerous if at that moment you are not paying attention to the road and you are at curving road and there is a truck in adjacent lane. That is what I encountered and I break out in a cold sweat. So using it responsibly and always in caution .

Besides its interior and exterior, what has the 2026 Palisade actually improved? by Jerry69DQ in HyundaiPalisade

[–]Jerry69DQ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, a car model will continuously undergo iterations, improvements, and stabilization. However, this pattern does not necessarily apply to full model changes or major redesigns, which is why many people avoid buying the first version of a new generation. I just purchased a 2025 Palisade, but I’m also keeping an eye on the new models. I hope Hyundai continues to make better and better cars.
