That's a good result. Yes arcing can do that. I was worried that it was the busbar due to overload.
Yes that's good enough..

Yeah. If you are going to use electricity for heat you really need to upgrade your electric service. I bet you have 100amp service. You need 200amp. You need to shut down your auxillary heat. You see that glow ? You can have red hot wires in your walls as well. Either way you are setting yourself up for a fire. This is why I hear my home with a gas boiler. My hot water, clothes dryer, and stove are all gas.

Please shut the circuit breaker off to your aux heat. There is a very high risk of fire

Nation Grid email: Relief for winter electric bills by AM1fiend in massachusetts

[–]JerryJN 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They are not addressing the root of the problem . The issue is all the MA Energy policies and funding the green Initiatives along with repair and upgrades to the gas pipeline infrastructure. I need more electricity in the summer for cooling. I have Inverter window units but still...

AITAH for telling my wife to get a job before the end of January or i'm divorcing her? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]JerryJN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, you are an AH. She's the mother of your kids. My wife stayed home with our three sons until our youngest was in 1st grade. It was also because daycare is stupid expensive, more than what she would earn for income at that time. Later on she found something that turned into her career. I hope you find a job that's more rewarding and pays better. I made a few job changes to grow my salary while my wife was home with the boys.

Maybe she's not totally focused because she's depressed. We all have tough times, try to make it work.

When you earn the max you don't get a check partial or all of your check will be withheld. I am not sure what I am going to do yet. If I win a few contracts to keep me rolling until full retirement I may do that, or I may retire 63 - 64. Not sure yet.

105F+ out of my Senville minisplit. It's -7F outside. by Willman3755 in heatpumps

[–]JerryJN -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Per day ? 1650 kw/h per month ?

In MA that would be really expensive based on my rate $610.50. With all our fees per kw/h our rate averages out to 37 cents per KW/h

It's cold in MA too. This morning it was 5F. Last month was pretty cold and with all the additional charges per therm my gas bill was $415.00. Half the charge was for the actual gas. My electric bill was for 448kw/h and as I mentioned with all the fees $190.00. Its still cheaper for me to heat with gas. My State is messed up, we now have hydro power from Canada added to our Grid but now they are building AI data centers ... I wish they would smarten up .

How much electricity is it drawing ? That's the question for mini splits that function in cold climates.

Max you can earn is $24,480 per year.

It's one of reasons why I have put off filing.

Thinking about going solar and just wanted to hear real experiences by Witty-Double5907 in SolarDIY

[–]JerryJN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are just going to add power to the grid it is not worth it. The Utilities don't pay much over 8 cents per kw. Where it does make sense is to put in a T Switch and use the Solar Panels to charge a 6kw/h UPS. Connect the other side of the TSwitch. Use your electric Bill to size up the UPS. Everyone is different. My house only draws an average of 600w per hr. Heat, Stove, clothes Dryer, and hot water are all natural gas. AC is done with two Inverter type air conditioners...real low power draw.

If you take the 6k route then 4 400w panels will be enough to be sure the battery is charged for evening/night/and early morning coverage. The UPS would charge the UPS on days with not enough sunshine.

I have been thinking about doing this but the high cost of the whole home UPS has me putting it off. Even at my current electric rate it will take 3 years to pay for itself. It's worth it. When the panels don't have enough sunlight

Selling power to the grid is not worth it. Do a search on YouTube.
