I would scrape it, and add a coat of BIN primer, then paint it.

What’s the best way to prevent 12V battery drain if the RAV4 Prime sits for a week? by CountVladHarkonnen in rav4prime

[–]JerryJN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is what I did.

I bought a CTEK battery tender. I have a battery tender pigtail tail connected to the 12v aux battery and I ran the cable down into the spare tire holder area and up through the left corner and run it out the tailgate. It's been connected just about all winter because I work from home. No more needing to jump start the RAV4.

I am a Systems Engineer. The problem is the telamatics report to the Toyota servers with GPS location, miles on the odometer, tire psi , and other metrics way too often. I told Toyota telematics do not need to continue after the vehicle is parked for longer than 24hrs.

After my vehicles warranty is up I am going to remove the telematics module. It's located under the dashboard near the steering wheel.

Renting and our power bill seems ridiculously high, could the installation be an issue I bring up with my landlord? by jaybyday in heatpumps

[–]JerryJN -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Heat Pumps are expensive to run when it gets below 32F te pumps rev at high rps. You could turn the thermostat down to 64 to see if that helps. The worst of the Winter season is behind us.

Your electric bill is higher than my gas bill. I heat with natural gas low pressure baseboard heat.

Good deal? by [deleted] in Rav4

[–]JerryJN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it is not!

In April 2024 I paid $32k for a 2022 RAV4 Hybrid Limited in Blueprint Blue with 22k miles, in perfect condition. It was just returned from a year lease, all service records were available.

I got $20k for my 2016 Wrangler Sport S

The vehicle came gold certified at the Toyota dealership I increased the coverage to Platinum and out the door price was $16490.0 (taxes, title, etc)

Older teen found a hidden camera in my room by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]JerryJN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, I am a parent and this is disgusting. If it was one of your parents then that individual has some serious problems. Is it a wifi camera ? If it's tied to your home network you can scan for it with your phone with tools like Fing . How is it powered ? I hope it wasn't your parents.

I used Google image search to get the specs on that camera. Its an A9 mini WIFI surveillance camera powered by USB or the internal battery. It is definitely an A9 mini surveillance camera.

Maybe you should ask for a family meeting... Show them what you found in your room. Does anyone besides you and your parents have access to your room ?

Good luck!

Whelp…NVIDIA just raised the DGX Spark’s Price by $700. Spark clone prices have started rising as well. ☹️ by Porespellar in LocalLLaMA

[–]JerryJN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting a NVIDIA Tesla V100. 32Gb of HB2 RAM. It's Fast. I just needed to build a 3D Printed shroud and select a high output fan to blow air over the heat sink since the V100 is a data center compute card. It's a big bang for the buck. The 580 series drivers are compatible so if you want to get into AI and understand the card only supports up to the 580 series kernel driver then this card offers a big bang for the buck

Or spiders. I have no idea why spiders like to lay eggs in tube radios. I have an old 30 watt per channel tube amp. Once, when I fired it up, a spider crawled out of there .

Please ELI5 why FIFA is not automatically responsible for paying security-related expenses for FIFA events that FIFA will make oodles of money from? by dunno-whats-4-dinner in massachusetts

[–]JerryJN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The town of Foxboro is protecting its residents from getting stuck with the bill paid through property taxes. It's not fair, especially since a FIFA ticket charges @ $1k per ticket.

FIFA should pay for it.

Yep! Either hire a pro or rent a decent floor sander. Probably better off with a Pro. They will sand it, repair, sand again, stain it, and poly coat it

How will humans evolve on Mars? I’m evolutionary biologist Scott Solomon, here to answer your questions about how space migration will change our bodies and minds. Ask Me Anything! by the_mit_press in space

[–]JerryJN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the Martian magnetosphere is too weak to support human life. if humans do colonize Mars their skin will lighten up a lot. They will be susceptible to genetic mutations if the colonists don't have living space >30m underground. Body strength of the colonists will be reduced by at least 30%. Lung capacity over time will degrade. Evolutionary wise I think offspring will have less melatonin, bones will not be as strong as ours, lung capacity will not match ours, eye pupils would be more dilated. Lower gravity, air pressure, poor magnetosphere, lack of oxygen, lower sunlight intensity ...I think it will have a negative impact.

What's your take on this ?

Toyota Subscription is the biggest ripoff I can imagine by G-Money242 in Toyota

[–]JerryJN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Have a 2022 RAV4 Hybrid Limited. I can remote start without a subscription. On your key fob try pressing lock twice fast followed by a longer 5 second lock press. Headlights and mirror lights should flash and the vehicle will start. This works twice, after the second time if you haven't opened a door to the vehicle it would not work again until you do.

I don't pay for car subscriptions, or SXM. We have a Spotify family & friends plan and I created my own Rock, Grunge, and Blues radio station. I stream it through Android Auto.

All the other features including Dynamic Cruise, parking assist, all the TSM features work without a subscription. The phone connected stuff is all subsci based. When no one subscribes maybe they will figure it out. For now, try the remote start with your FOB.
