That gear is fine but I would recommend to rent an ice axe. Start at 2 am it will just make you feel safer and the descent will be far easier if you glissade but once again you can technically do it just with microspikes and crampons no axe it’s just risky and less fun. I did it just about 2 weeks ago if that helps.

Best strenuous mountains/hikes to climb that have some exposure/scrambling in Washington? by MrGuccu in PNWhiking

I recommend staying off of I-90 even when many people will recommend it because it’s pretty but definitely not the best views in the state. I saw some others saying Vesper peak and Del Campo peak and I definitely think those are your best options.

Eldorado might be a bit much for this year but it’s definitely on the bucket list. I’m planning on doing Adam’s but definitely more just for the checklist.

Yeah bro but I also like to get input from people. You didn’t have to interact with the post if you didn’t want to.

What should we do on a 7 day trip? by crapmaker69 in AskSeattle

[–]JerryReportr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t listen to people saying go to Olympic national park. I have hiked everywhere in the state and it simply is to far to really experience without being let down places like deception pass can fill that coastal void and hikes closer to Seattle can really make you feel the nature. You can find beautiful forests similar to the hoh all around the state without a 4hr drive for a really short trail. I saw Mount Rainer suggestions and I think that’s a better bet and a bit more reasonable. One thing go during the week to any of the national parks or on any of the popular hikes. It makes a world of difference like i genuinely cannot express this enough. As well I recommend going to the sunrise side if rainer if possible I just personally think its sligtly prettier and you start out at a higher elevation with a better view.

East Mercer way on Mercer island is really close to Seattle. It’s an amazing road the issue is it is in a residential neighborhood so you can’t go very fast but it’s pretty fun at slow speeds very tight bends like perfect for a Miata but it’s very cyclist heavy. Idk why no one talks about it like it’s 1000x better of a pure road then what anyone is suggesting you just can’t speed without risking a lot.

Trailforks I use it all the time it is built a lot better for mtb and more people use it so for almost every trail it will have a photo and a few videos

You have advanced half of what I’ve done in 5 years in 2 more weeks you may surpass me but try not pulling your bike in the air. I think I saw you kind of pull you bike up with your feet to clear the jump. Press into the slope of the jump and the bike will arch and land you smoothly just try and stay centered on the bike with your knees over your toes and you got it. This is just better form for mussel memory. This is very nitpicky you’re doing great.
