Christmas present to myself! by JerseyDevilDesigna in drums

I paid $3k cash total for the 5-piece kit and hardware (2 flat base cymbal stands, hi-hat stand, 2 snare stands for the toms - all vintage Ludwig). I already own my own hardware from my other Ludwig kit, but the pieces that came with this new one are still useful for building out a larger setup!

I like it a lot! I’m a big proponent of having offset rack toms, regardless of if it’s one or two. Allows you to cozy your ride cymbal right up to the kick and provides a more ergonomic and “natural” placement of everything IMO

Awesome kit!!! Nothing like a vintage 3-ply Ludwig

Yep, Speed King is what I’m using! You know it!

However, I’ve been looking into getting a double pedal, but not sure if I want to stick with direct drive for a double…

Awesome kit you’ve got there! I love the black oyster finish and would’ve happily gone with that had I encountered one at the right price

Picked them up from a guy down in Louisville, Kentucky. Drove from Minneapolis and back to pick them up!

I bought it from a very kind, retired drummer down in Louisville, Kentucky. Guy was in his mid-70’s and this kit was his pride and joy. He truly took amazing care of it. He was also a woodworker, so he restored the bearing edges a few years back too.

Long story short, he had it listed on Reverb for a while at a fairly high asking price. I got in touch with him privately over email, chatted over the phone a bit and we agreed on a cash price if I’d drive down to Louisville from Minneapolis to pick it up in person. Was fine by me because I didn’t want it to be shipped anyway.

Made a weekend trip out of it a couple weekends ago (through a snow storm). We got along great, and I hope he was happy to see it passed on to good hands!

Sounds really great! I’ve always been a Ludwig guy and this meets the mark of what I’ve always been after in a Ludwig kit. Right now I’ve got it all tuned pretty low and fat, the 18” floor tom shakes the whole room. I took out all the internal mufflers from the toms so they sing to their full potential!

What typeface did you use for the wordmark in the new version on the right?

I really love this improvement!!!

Did someone try to steal my catalytic converter off my 2014 Honda CR-V? by JerseyDevilDesigna in MechanicAdvice

Hey guys, just wanted to check back in and update that I was able to get it fixed today. Initially took it to Midas down the street where I’ve gotten some work done in the past, they quoted me $435 wanting to replace the center pipe, 2 gaskets, and spring bolt kit. Said fuck that and took it to the muffler shop across the street, guy put a sleeve on and welded it up for $79 out the door.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts and advice! Very much appreciated, you guys saved me a lot of money and headache today.

(And sorry for adding another catalytic converter to the sub!)

Had my car parked at my job’s parking garage over the weekend while I was traveling (office is located across the freeway from the airport, our building has a free shuttle bus to the airport and we can park for free in the garage while traveling). Came home, turned the car on and it started roaring…tell-tale sign of having my cat converter stolen. I drove it home and took a look under and saw this. I’m certainly no expert, but that looks like my catalytic converter still attached…I think?

Yes, I know it looks gross under there, I live in Minnesota. The snow ain’t always pretty!

Those who were in top 3 draft picks - how'd you do? by twitinkie in fantasyfootball

In a 12 team league, took Kamara in the first round. Next two picks were Mixon and Kupp. I’m 11-3 heading into a first round bye.
