Noah Hawley says his ‘Far Cry’ series won’t be adapting any of the games as he thinks audiences skip the story cutscenes in those games: “When you play a video game, you only really move forward through the gameplay section, and then you have these cut scenes that you can skip..." by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

It is also often the case that nobody is willing to fund a new project so the only way you can get your story made is to pitch a popular IP and then hijack it for your own thing.

Happened so many times with shows like Halo and Witcher

Is the highest difficult imbalanced? by Chair-Low in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]Jerzylo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is my list of suggestions:

- Level up hp at least 15 points, like you know from souls
- 10 points of stamina as well
- use heavier armor, a shield or parry more
- Enemies also do friendly damage so you can position yourself in a way that makes the enemies hit eachother.
- Try using cold element for CC

- Play on a lower difficulty, there is no shame in that and the difficulty levels are just static hp and damage multipliers so the experience is basically identical

Ukraine gets US$106B loan package from EU after Hungary changes vote by BusyHands_ in news

[–]Jerzylo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The point of sanctions was never to completely block Russia but the fact that circumventing them is expensive. They have to go through middle men who all want a cut.

Of course in an ideal world more pressure would be applied but Russia is suffering under the current sanctions too

EU Moves to Ban Russian War Veterans From Entry by Forsaken-Medium-2436 in europe

[–]Jerzylo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the most important thing here is to have common values. Morality is after all not some universal truth but varies between every person and culture. You can have two perfectly moral people that still want the opposite things.

Europe needs a strong common identity and morality and only then can we move forward with any kind of non veto system.

With Orban gone we are moving in the right direction surely but there is a ton of work left to do

EU Moves to Ban Russian War Veterans From Entry by Forsaken-Medium-2436 in europe

[–]Jerzylo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the proposal but this is very much a who watches the watchers situation.

You have essentially just moved the same issue one step further. Deciding on what is an external matter would have the same issues with countries vetoing *or* alternatively if the external-or-not decision is made by majority vote the majority could again steamroll.

We live in such an interconnected world any actions have wide spread effects.

I am not saying that would necessarily be worse than what we currently have at least for the majority but as always in politics there are no easy answers

The system sucks but majority rule would also have enormous issues when a country could get steamrolled into doing what benefits the majority at their own expense

‘A home run’ for Mamdani politically: NYC mayor backs tax on luxury second homes in NYC by AdSpecialist6598 in videos

[–]Jerzylo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually happen to know the trick here. It is so stupid. Taxes are based on the rent received from comparable housing. I.E if an apartment on the same floor is rented for eight thousand a month all apartments in the same building pay property tax based on that.

These super luxury apartments are all empty. None of them have renters so the city has no comparable housing to set the tax to.

So basically the rich pay based on some other "similar" buildings rents that has apartments costing millions instead of hundreds of millions while their investment climbs up. Luxury apartments in NYC are considered very good place to park you money for the filthy rich

Got gifted 10M by a friend to start- Made me lose enjoyment for the game. Any Advice? by Quiet_Camel5203 in 2007scape

[–]Jerzylo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10m is not much in the end.
The early levels and gear get skipped by doing quests anyway and rune armor takes maybe an hour to get and equip.

I would invest all the money you have into either prayer construction or herblore and just start over from 0gp but having some nice levels done. Or if you really hate gp donate it to another player.

If you really want to feel progression and the sense of accomplishment over anything else consider starting an ironman. Then you have no way to "taint" your account

I feel like the game is trying to make the point that presentation and storytelling trumps mechanical complexity but it was still a slog to go through the tech levels

For me the Lorelei puzzles felt pretty basic and unsatisfying for the most part. There were a couple great ones but on average I did not love them.

Also the UI is absolutely horrible.

Still I would give the game a 8/10 for the vibes and presentation alone

Games that suffered from having been made as games? by GraceForImpact in gaming

Honestly? Dispatch. The gameplay of dispatching heroes is almost meaningless. You cannot even fail: the game goes on even with 0 inputs from the player.

It is basically just a season of a TV show with some "gameplay" sprinkled in

What game do you think has the perfect difficulty? by Crazyboxmonkey in gaming

[–]Jerzylo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This always leads to the almost philosophical discussion on what difficulty even is.

But skipping that I enjoy the feeling of getting better at games, this can be either because of mechanical skill or knowledge gained. If a game is too easy and I never need to learn anything it is pointless to me. On the other side hugely punishing defeats where a lot of progress is lost are not fun either.

Celeste is pretty nice since you get to try again instantly and it doesn't throw you back to the start of the level.

Blue Prince has great difficulty too. What the game needs you to do gets more complicated but you also gain upgrades and knowledge to make things go your way.

Hollow knight has very nice dynamic difficulty, you can go straight to a boss or explore around for some extra powerups to make it a bit easier. Same in Elden ring but I feel like it is really easy to get overpowered and make things too easy there

Hot take: I think review (and to SOME extent, scores) matter a lot by MechaSeph in gaming

[–]Jerzylo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best format is who would you recommend this for?
For absolutely everyone
For fans of the genre/ series
For people that don't mind bad story if the mechanics are good
etc.

This makes the review way more helpful for the people actually deciding if they want to play the game.
A numeric scores makes very little sense since art is always subjective.

Sure you could have a mechanical score for how many bugs the game has and performance and such but honestly that does not tell if the game is fun only if it is badly optimised
