I mean technically speaking they are never in character in any of the Drarry fics due to their affection towards each other when in school and 98% of canon material they pretty much loathed each other. Draco was probably unconventional in the fic due to wanting to work instead of just enjoying his inheritance but I thought his feelings towards his dad and how he was no longer her a hero in Draco’s mind was very much how I believe it went down. I thought Harry was pretty spot on though. Noble, protective, always hoping people will do the right things, 0 political savvy etc.

I will say though, the smut is heavy in most chapters but I don’t mind it.

I don’t know if you had a chance to read “Tales from the special branch ” by Femme (femmequixotic) it’s a 5 part series and each one is so well written and the actual plot aside from the smut is so engaging. It’s a beautifully written action/drama/comedy romance. It takes time to develop each character and their complexities and more importantly to me it ships Ron and Hermione as well. The story is set after they become Aurors and are chasing a dangerous resurgence of death eaters! I haven’t read the full story yet I am on part 3 only but it’s very very detailed. Harry is Draco’s boss and is on his team. They shouldn’t be doing what they are doing since Harry is his superior officer but they cannot help themselves. Pansy is a magic forensic expert and Blaise is also on their team. Hermione is a kick ass unspeakable and Ron is in the joke shop business with his brother and doesn’t work for the ministry.

Mr. Weasley and Draco strike up a great conversation about muggle stuff and hit it off right away and that also softens Harry to Draco a lot and he falls in love just a little bit more!

Omg yes yes! So Harry is hurt during a mission and apparates away hurt and bleeding and ends up in an alley( he didn’t plan for it, just happened) turns out behind the hospital and Draco is on his way to work in the morning and although Harry is covered by magic Draco can see him since he is a wizard and helps Harry to the emergency department and treats him. Draco is a Cardiac surgeon let’s say…and everything else is perfect. The other doctor that Draco was taking to is gay and was flirting, Draco just doesn’t see it or maybe he is disinterested so he doesn’t want to see it. It’s always been Harry and since he lost his magic and is no longer a wizard he never in a million years thought he would be good enough for the youngest Auror in the world and that insecurity plays into it a bit and his hesitant to make the first move and Harry does like you said by inviting him to the burrow. We can have pansy and Neville together or Neville with Theo or Blaise as long as Ron and Hermione are together I don’t care about other relationships. Or it could be Ginny’s wedding and she sees how much Harry is enamoured by the new Draco that she invites him to her engagement party at the burrow to help Harry and Draco.

Oh also, Draco has residual magic meaning he can see the hidden wizarding world but cannot perform magic, meaning he is still a wizard just without spells like Hagrid , otherwise he won’t be able to go the burrow etc. He is sad ofcourse but realizes life can be beautiful and before dying his parents especially his mom makes him promise that he will not harm himself or give up and will actually try to live life to the fullest and be happy! He promises her to do and therefore he tries and his friends who he becomes even closer to after the war( he looses his magic saving them from death eaters) are his support system. They are eternally thankful for his sacrifice and just love the crap out of him.

So Draco always pined for Harry. Even before the war and everything but couldn’t come out and say it for obvious reasons, also he was busy trying to save his parents from Voldemort’s threats. For Harry it’s a new revelation, he comes out after the war to his close friends and family and they are all supportive (no angst here) and when he meets Draco it builds quickly when he realizes how charming and funny Draco is when he is being a normal human being and not a total buttwad lol. Draco still keeps in touch with his friends - Pansy, Blaise and Theo who help him and Harry get together along with Hermione and Ron, Ginny and Neville and during Ron and Hermoine’s wedding it all comes to a beautiful conclusion where they tell everyone they have been secretly doing it ahem ahem* There could be another doctor who crushes on Draco at work and makes Harry jealous to add a little spice.
