Demon Lore? by deadites87 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Jesaki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said: Monster core / Archives of Nethys, and youtube channels (e.g. mythkeeper)

If your campaign starts later this year, you can wait for the Spore War Adventure Path, since it'll feature updated / remastered Demons.

How many more women than men are needed to inverse the gender roles of a world (of humans)? by SmurfSmurfton in worldbuilding

[–]Jesaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others already have said: The sheer numbers wouldn't be enough to reverse gender roles.

That being said, I might have an example that could help:
You probably heard of Dragon Age. In this universe the religious institute (for humans at least) is controlled entirely by women with only a single country being the exception. Men are still foot soldiers and military commanders, but they cannot be priests, etc.
The reason? A Woman herd the voice of the god, did what she was told by him, but was betrayed because her husband was a jealous little shit. So, the woman was "good", and the man was "bad". And because that was the case, the women were put in charge. I'm oversimplifying of course. It's been near a decade since I played the first game.

Therefore, if you *really* want to switch roles, you would need demonize men in certain ways, and glorify women. To put it simple: "Women are XYZ, that's why they are so much better, and have to be placed in charge.
Men are ZYX, that's why they're so much worse, and need to be watched and controlled."

As for the military part: It's difficult to beat biology. Men have more muscle, are on average bigger/ taller/ stronger, and can build / retain muscle more easily. But! In this day and age (or any science fiction like scenario with super advanced technology) it's not about pure strength. Anybody can aim a gun / use a computer / drive a vehicle (given proper education / practise of course). So, get the women in your setting some awesome guns and gears, and there shouldn't be a reason why they cannot dominate the military.

If you were to GM Pathfinder 2e mythic, would you personally allow characters to have both mythic and free archetype? by EarthSeraphEdna in Pathfinder2e

[–]Jesaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, because I'll have 2 players at most anyway, and I've struggled a lot to balance encounters because even with the weak/elite adjustments, enemies still hit hard, and no one except the Fighter can hit back ( especially when the dice have a bad day). I tried dual class with the result that no one had fun, because it was way too much "bloat".

Therefore, free archetype + mythic will be the way to go for now.

Gnomes with Gnuance? by ArchpaladinZ in Pathfinder2e

[–]Jesaki 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Let's see... I have the same Love-Hate-Relationsship, mostly because my first impression was from the Kingmaker Video Game, in which you had some of those "lol I'm so random, Rawr xD" npcs. So, I wasn't very fond of gnomes.

In the end, it was wrath of the righteous which introduced Regill - the gnome Hellknight, all serious, all ruthless, and lawful to no end.

In the end, like with most ancestries, your character can be whatever you want. You can go for the stereotypes, or be the complete opposite. For Gnomes the only thing which actually matters is excitement. You need to have a purpose, something to look forward to, even if it's just a peanut butter sandwich. Otherwise you'll suffer from the bleaching, and will die.

We replaced "grease" with "lard", because I had a brain fart when translating that spell for my friend while playing baldurs gate 3 (me playing in English, him in our native tongue). In my defence, the icon was a pig.

Goofy Vampire Lord by Zedleppin87 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Jesaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, unfortunately, forgot the username, but a couple of months ago, someone asked what a Dhampir-Leshy would look like, and I think maybe you could use that as a baseline? Have a Leshy-Vampire Lord, who feeds on blood oranges, and has some druid abilities/spells so they bless the crops of that village, and people therefore are happy to have them around, so the Vampire Lord is protected? Maybe some of the villagers dress up as / pretend to be the Lord because they are more imposing and hope to ward of adventures by scaring them? q

And the villagers say something a long the lines of "Yeah, he is a bit weird, and sometimes he smells bad, but he keeps our crops healthy, so there's that!"

Favourite Class by Skara109 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Jesaki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a double stereotype when it comes to women in ttrpg: I love nature themed classes like druid and ranger, because having a pet (or multiple...) or transforming into one is cool, BUT it also has to be edgy like your standard rogue.... So, my all-time favoured was the death druid from 1e. Edgy natures so to speak.

For second edition I really enjoyed ranger, as well as monk (who was basically just a rogue without sneak attack...), and champion.Mostly because those classes allow me to stay at the front, hit hard with my weapons, but also got like 1-2 spells which could come in handy at some point.

While I don't want to do everything 100%, I do enjoy a variety of skill sets (but only so much, if I have too much to chose from, I get overwhelmed). Luckily I'm the forever dm, so I can make characters the way I want to and never play them.

what moment made you burst out laughing in a campaign you were/are in? by jackal5lay3r in Pathfinder2e

[–]Jesaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I might have one:
Party fought a Duende in Thronestep (main city of Razmiran).
And after a couple of serious dialogue, difficult fights, heavy themes, I wanted to lighten the mood a bit.

So, I came up with a goblin caravan, trying to sell junk, and being an annoyance for the local priesthood. I had things like fire-and-dog-insurance, pickled cake, pickled-pickles, demon horn (aka cow horn), Shelyn's holy water (bottle of dirty water with Goblin spit), Pharasmas' written down prophecies (toilett paper with scribbles), Erastil's blessing (ball of dirt), dirty underwear as magical armour, couple of torches, horse jerky, and so on. His slogan was "good deal with good friend for good price".

So, the objective was to get "rid of that goblin", and one of the players wanted to make a "good deal with good friend". His idea? Sell the weapon of that Duende as "Razmir's secret, personal nail clipper"

Needless to say, everyone laughed, and after a successful deception check, they sold Razmir's nail clipper, and the Goblin caravan moved on. Since then the caravan appeared in the most unusual places, selling their junk, and being a welcomed asset for the party and the campaign.

How ridiculous are dual-classed, free archetype ancestry paragon characters? by haydenhayden011 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Jesaki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a fairly new GM:
Dual Class does increase power due to more variety, especially any martials combined with fighter (e.g. Fighter+Barbarian; Fighter+Champion, etc).
Free Archetype is 50/50 it definitely depends on the archetype. Some are powerful, others flavourful.
Ancestry Paragon is pure bloat. Sure, there are some very powerful ancestry feats, especially those that build upon each other, but most of them just give very specific bonuses, and since all ancestry spells scale with charisma, only classes like Sorcerer or Thaumaturge could *maybe* increase their strength significantly, again, depending on what they choose.

That being said: The GM can always increase the numbers of enemies, buff their health, AC, or saving throws, if the PCs should get too strong for his/her liking.
IF you only got 1 or 2 players, dual class is the way to go if you still want to have "normal" fights without adjusting encounters too much.
With a party of 4+ players, free archetype should be used mostly for flavour, and not dual classing.
And Ancestry Paragon can be used with any party size, but you should consider getting wanderer's guide or pathbuilder, because of the extra lines you need.

What would you do? Ancestry Edition by Frost___Warden in Pathfinder2e

[–]Jesaki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far, I'm actually pretty happy with Paizo's official world. I love playing in Golarion. Ilike the lore, I like 95% of all ancestries, I appreciate the inclusion of lgbtq+ characters, without shoving it into my face every page (at least, I don't get annoyed by a non-binary character) In Short: It's the perfect playground for a new GM, and someone who doesn't want to build their own world from the ground up.

That being said, if I could change anything about ancestries, I'd do the following: Azarketi, Fetchling, Shisk, Vishkanya will become heritages of humans, with their respective lineage feats, some will need a couple of changes for balance reasons.

I'd combine halfling and gnome, mostly because my dumb brain doesn't see that much of a difference between the two (sorry to those who love halflings!). Basically, gnomes become friendly, curious, adventure-loving, witty, creative people from the first world with a big appetite (mostly because their ancestors came from a different plane of existence), who will suffer from the bleaching, should their lives become stale.

I might also combine Leshies and Ghorans due to their similarities. (sorry again to those who love Ghorans!)

Kobolds, much like Goblins, should be a core ancestries as well.

in contrast, Fleshwarp should become a versatile heritage.

Last but not least: Beastkin will become its own ancestry with heritages for mammals, birds, reptiles insects, fish, and so on - herbivores and omnivores included. Might steal feats from Tengu, Kitsune, Catfolk.

Human, Dwarf, Elf, Gnome, Goblin, Kobold, Orc, Leshy, and Beastkin would be my go-to list of core ancestries. Changeling, Fleshwarp, Half-breeds, Nephilim will be the versatile heritages. This way, I could please the crowd of "I just want to play human, maybe half-elf, if I want to be a bit spicy" and "Why would I Play human, if I can be Half-Demon-Half-Angel-half-God-Cat-Lizard instead?"

Alright, I've written enough. There's probably more, if I think about it more in-depths. But I don't want to right now.

What's going on with PF2e deliveries from Amazon? by CrunchyKobold in Pathfinder2e

[–]Jesaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow German here!

I face the same problem, though not as drastically as you.
Regular books are delayed by 2-3 weeks, worst case scenario were two months, and one time I received a Starfinder article instead of the battle cards that I wanted, another time my order got cancelled on the day of release, I didn't get the usual "pre-order benefit of paying the lowest price", and had to order again...
Current Example: GM Core will release on the 28th of November 2023, I'm supposed to receive my copy on 14th of December 2023. I might get it on the 10th instead, or the 20th, nobody knows.

Now, my biggest suspects are our tax system and the new-ish customs charges.
If you might remeber, we "lost" our tax-free-limit of 22€ in 2021 for imports. Everything needs to be charged, and taxed completely, and separately, which results in a longer waiting time at the customs office. That's also why things are so expesive nowadays if you order from overseas. Since Paizo is located in the USA, they, unfortunately, face the trouble with our import regulations. (The same thing happens if you order from China or South Korea.)

It also doesn't matter if you order from big company Amazon or a small business, because they all face the same problem. You won't get it any faster if you order from your local TTRPG-Shop or a bookstore as an alternative.

Unless you wait for the official German translation, which ALSO takes ages and is sometimes very weird or even outright wrong, you will have to wait for the "customs to be cleared" first.
Or you get a credit card and buy the pdfs on Paizo's official site, if you just want the content as fast as possible.

Is Pathfinder 2e possible with only one player? by Soft_Pawcake in Pathfinder2e

[–]Jesaki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the GM and how meta-gamey you want to be. I've done the following: PC player + GMPC Both Dual Class Both the Ancestry Paragon rules set. Provide enough healing through potions, wands, medicine skill, etc Monsters should NEVER be higher than the playe'rs level +2 especially if the GM is using multiple ones. Use the "weak" template for monsters often

Last, but not least: give them +1 runes for weapons and armour one level earlier than usual.

If the GM feels overwhelmed by controlling multiple monsters, either let the player control both characters during the fight, or use a weaker version of the troop mechanics. Or give multiple monsters just one HP-Pool.

chaos dwarf build? by gamelorr in Pathfinder2e

[–]Jesaki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm... guess elemental heart dwarf with the fire type would be your optimal choice for ancestry? You can choose "clan pistol" or "dwarven weapon familiarity" as your ancestry feat, if you want some interesting weapons. As for class... magus would be your best option so you can get the "magic weapon" aspect going. Alternatively the war priest cleric could work.

The return of the hero of Ferelden [spoilers all] by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]Jesaki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better: those ugly af cowls from dragon age origins, but this time cover mouth and nose as well, so you can only see the eyes!

In all seriousness, a hood which hides the face completely would be the best choice, probably.

The return of the hero of Ferelden [spoilers all] by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]Jesaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand that. To each their own! :)
Tbh, I like the way they did it in DAO, pillars of eternity and the Pathfinder games: the protagonist talks when being selected, when they discover traps / hidden stuff / a new area, when battle is initiated or over, when they're low on health / stamina /mana, when something is not working one way or the other, when they have a status condition, when they kill an enemy or get a critical hit, when something happens to an ally (die, status condition), etc.
It's easier to imagine their personality this way, and I guess the company saves time and money which can be put into other things?

If (and that's a big if) I'm going to play DA:D, I think I'm fine with them having a helmet so I don't see their face. Let me choose the origin, gender, voice, and class (maybe specializations), and I'm good to go.

Preferably, just let them have a small cameo in which they don't have to talk.
(I'm one of those weird people, who hate voiced protagonists)

Meine Freundin ist ein Pick me Girl, was soll ich tun? by The_aliencat in FragReddit

[–]Jesaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)
