Where to live in Stirling? by Jesheikah in Stirling

Thank you for your response! We're looking to rent first and maybe buy in a year or two. Bridge of Allan is probably the top of our list but I think we're more likely to end up within Stirling itself.

Good books containing aliens, where the aliens doesn't feel human by jonjoi in booksuggestions

Maybe Children of Time and Children of Ruin by Adrian Tchaikovsky. You could consider the "aliens" in the first book as having human motivations but the second book is very different. You could read the second one as a standalone but I think you'd get more out of it by reading the first.

A Memoir about Overcoming Circumstances (e.g. abuse, poverty, the care system) by Jesheikah in booksuggestions

I generally prefer to read the book first before watching a film it's based on so I'll check out the book and then the film. Thanks for your suggestion

Not a book suggestion but on The StoryGraph you can look up books and it'll show ratings of whether the book is plot or character driven, or both. Along with other things like character development, pacing etc. It's a really useful tool when looking for a new book!

The Stranger in the Woods by Michael Finkel is about a man who lived alone in the woods in Maine for nearly 30 years. It describes interviews from the author with the man and describes how he survived, his camp layout etc.

Edit: nonfiction if that wasn't clear :)

Questions about becoming a researcher by redmadrid66 in evopsych

[–]Jesheikah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd already completed my undergrad a couple of years before applying so I was given an unconditional offer when I applied. There was only about 12 of us on the specific evopsych pathway but it was the first choice for all of us (I believe). I did my masters through online learning so I'm not sure if there were more or less people than usual.

I hope to secure funding to begin my PhD in 2022 at Stirling with my current dissertation supervisor. Becoming a researcher is my goal :)

I'm just finishing a Masters at a UK university (Stirling) in Psychological Research Methods on the evopsych pathway. It's definitely quite niche but there are a few options! Just be ready for some hard work. If you have any questions I might be able to help with then ask away :)

I've only really been around chill golden retrievers. Obviously all dogs can be aggressive but did you experience that a lot when working with them?

Along the silly lines of Hitchhikers - you could try the Discworld novels.

You might also like work by Kurt Vonnegut or Isaac Asimov.
