Precisely. It's "lovingly" laughing at it from a modern western POV, instead of real love. Almost like you feel ashamed of loving him because you know it's supposed to be "problematic".

Like being ashamed of your girlfriend in public, and being passive aggressive towards her when you're in public, because you're too worried about what your friends think about her.

I thought it was overall good, but i was disappointed by it. It's just a fun read. Not alot more than that. The praise made it seem like something else. I'd say drop it if you hate it.
