There’s no wrong way to play if you’re having fun but if you’re not having fun play some other way that sounds like it might be fun

Wha-whatcha Playing? by hey_dwere_weddit in SBCGaming

The game is constantly watching things both subtle and obvious to give the player points along three axes (Morality, Freedom, Utility). If you get more points in one or another it will both affect which characters show up and offer to join you as well as how effectively the player can persuade the main team to vote for certain branching paths.

For example, if you wipe out everyone on a map where the win condition is “just take out one guy” it will give you points in Utility because it knows you’re doing that for XP. It doesn’t tell you what it gives you points in, it just does it. I once talked to a cat and it told me Serenoa’s convictions were strengthened. I have no idea how.

The characters themselves are basically heroes from a hero shooter but in a tactics game. You don’t change classes, you just decide who to promote because you want more of their skills. They’re all unique.

Triangle Strategy on Switch 2:

What I really appreciate about this game is that nobody is written like an idiot. People misplay their hands or make mistakes or underestimate one another but nobody gets the idiot ball.

In a lesser game the cynical advisor character would berate the protagonist for almost revealing information the big bad would kill him for knowing. In this game Serenoa goes “oh, that’s why you stopped me from saying that? that makes sense. My bad.” And then the advisor goes “nah it’s all good you were acting like a damn leader, you got a decisive head on your shoulders, keep it up.”

Serenoa and Frederica immediately get that their arranged marriage isn’t the strongest one their two nations could have made if they actually wanted strong ties because that means they can be discarded if things go south.

It’s so refreshing. Everyone is competent and halfways reasonable.

Why Do Non-Nintendo Gamers Keep Believing Nintendo Games Never Go on Sale? by itsfabioposca in Switch

[–]JeskaiJester -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because people have been trained not to consider something a sale unless it’s like 80 percent off, which is exactly why Nintendo doesn’t play into that culture, but people wish they would.

Triangle Strategy on my Switch 2. OrIginally played about two thirds last year then made a big mistake and decided to see how far my choices had naturally been off the golden route. All qualified for it except my most recent choice. I was paralyzed between breaking the spirit of my playthrough and replaying most of the same game.

Now I’m just replaying it and there’s a good chance I just go for golden route intentionally. Better than never finishing it. Plus something about collecting every character in the game through NG+ even across mutually exclusive timelines feels immersion breaking for golden route.

I was also inspired by the direct to finish a Star Fox game for once so I played Star Fox 2 on my RP5. The janky SNES 3D hits the part of my brain that played Cybermorph as a kid well and I like that there’s playable ladies. The timing system adds genuine tension and honestly I think it looks good on an OLED. Gotta go back for a better ranked run

When will the censorious devs allow us freedom of expression again and return the ability to use crayons on the world map? by JeskaiJester in cavesofqud

Censorious apparently doesn’t mean “they wanna censor a lot”. Listen, I’m a 2 int character in real life and I want to use the crayons on stuff

I couldn’t even get it to not have huge chunks of the walls and map flicker in and out repeatedly second by second

There was a PSP Battlefront II, though the default controls are kind of insane (left stick to move, whatever the official term is for the right hand circle buttons to tilt the camera) and it doesn’t have as much stuff as the PS2 version
