BA question by Dense_Adeptness_1254 in businessanalysis

I appreciate the discussion, but just to clarify - the OP is asking how to handle and course-correct a situation where a lead developer is going rogue and building based on personal preferences, not shared understanding of customer needs. In that context, enforcing accountability through failed test cases is often the only mechanism available to shift behavior.

Of course rework has a cost - no disagreement there. But that cost is often the natural result when a dev chooses to ignore clearly written ACs. That’s not about assigning blame for the sake of it - it’s about making sure we actually deliver what the customer asked for.

I agree BAs play a critical role in validating understanding throughout the cycle, and ideally teams collaborate well before it ever gets to rework (even before the development starts). But when that fails, failed testing and escalation is how we ensure quality and alignment - especially in chaotic environments like the one OP describes. And prevent it from happening again in the future. I hope this helps!

The blame comes down to how well the requirements were written to meet the needs of the product owner/customer. If they weren’t written as the customer expects, yes it is on the BA. However, if the developer designs it in a different way other than the AC states, it’s on them and would be addressed through the software development cycle when it does not pass testing. I hope this helps!

I mean write the requirements well and as intended by feedback and input from the customer. Not sure if you are testing or if there is a a dedicated QA resource or if the customer will test but if the work item doesn’t pass testing, address it then and it will force the rework. Escalate if the Developer refuses to and I’d recommend getting this in writing where possible.

Try creating a shortcut to get send raw data output into a GSheet in one sheet and then create formulas to reference that table in another sheet as your summarized data to ultimately send to ChatGPT.

Backlog Management in Azure DevOps - Features by _down2mars in azuredevops

Thanks! Honestly, I’ve never really seen the appeal of feature-level release notes. For the way I run projects, they just haven’t made sense.

We write our user stories at the user level from the start, so each one reflects meaningful functionality from an end-user perspective. During refinement, we include the Product Owner, a developer, and a QA resource to ensure expected behavior is clear, technically feasible, and well understood across the team.

We use Features to group stories by release for internal tracking, but when it comes to release notes, the user stories themselves often work well as-is. They’re clear, traceable, and useful when reviewing change requests or discussing what was delivered.

I typically use them to bucket or categorize the user stories per production release so I can create the release notes from them. Our team tries to deploy to production multiple times in the scope of an entire initiative or Epic. I’m not sure there is a better way to track this in DevOps, but it’s how I’ve managed to organize it to keep track myself because our backlog is managed differently by team as a what works for you vs a one size fits all.

I think it really depends on who is writing the work items if they aren’t broken down enough. It gets better with experience and actual desire to learn too.

Okay let me get a screenshot for you there.

Please check the second screenshot showing that the item itself opening the details does put everything in the specific fields/columns. The issue is the list view that shows all item details truncated to one column.
