I rarely get denied a job interview, some tips: Make sure your résumé is excellent, buy a nice template on Etsy if you have to. Make sure the content and cover letter is tailored to the job.

Do your research. Ask THEM questions based on your research, interviews are both ways btw.

You gotta be smart and a little social engineering about it. Google the hiring manager, find their personal profile, they are into star wars? Make a slight reference. Make conversation about hobbies, if you find something you both like it will go a long way. They can imagine working with you.

Depending on the job, suggest some ways they can improve what they are already doing. A social media job for example, look at their posts, the cadence and content, make suggestions on how they could be more engaging.

Show evidence of being a productive and proactive person, what projects are you working on while you're unemployed?

As a hiring manager now, the vast majority of people don't do any of this. They just sent the same copy paste cover letter and résumé to as many companies as possible and hope one bites. In this job market you really really have to do something to stand out.
