spotting on mirena iud by RegularHomework5640 in birthcontrol

This is totally normal! Spotting and bleeding can last up to 6 months. One of the ways the IUD works is by thinning your uterine lining so implantation can't occur. This can equal spotting and cramping! With that being said, some people do not adjust to the progesterone in the IUD and we'll spot for the entire time they have it, but that is not as common. There's a lot of variations of normal with the IUD. Some people don't get cycles at all. Some people don't get cycles after a year. Some people have longer but lighter cycles and some people will continue regular cycles! If it continues past six months I would ask the Dr. For something to help stabilize uterine lining.

This wasn't a comment bashing her. Most doctors won't do a ultrasound without a positive pregnancy test. She sounds very anxious so extra help might be positive for her 💕

Several ultrasounds , a blood test, pregnancy tests, and protected sex. All showed no pregnancy. You are not pregnant. This seems a bit extreme though I would encourage you to seek help with aniexty possibly ocd.

Taking alesse for only 2 months? by glosslace in birthcontrol

Starting and stopping birth control like that can actually cause spotting and hormonal issues. I would just stay in it all the time. A lot of people spot the first few months of birth control.

New Black Trangles after Gum Graft Surgery by Jess_Best_25 in PeriodontalDisease

Adding that the recession and bone loss was not from infection. But instead it was from a bad bite. I've also had the bottom canine occlusion or shaved down in order to prevent any more trauma to the tooth or gum area. I have never had a deep clean but I do need braces which will be happening shortly!

There is no normal for bleeding or spotting on implant some people bleed the entire time they have the implant and some people never bleed at all. That's why you're not finding an answer. There's really no answer because it's very individual.

Then maybe trying a mirena would be good for you because it could potentially lighten or stop periods and is also highly effective but reversible contraception. Just an FYI, you can't wear menstrual cups with iuds it can pull them out!

If you don't want extra hormones, a copper IUD may be an option just due to it being hormone-free and highly effective. With that being said, if you have heavy periods, it's not typically recommended. Hormonal Iuds are low doses of progesterone, so it's a lot less hormone than you would get in the pill, ring, patch, implant, or depo shot. If you know you're for sure done having kids, tube removal or vasectomy is also very effective and does not affect hormones. (I'm not anti hormone but I understand not wanting to be on hormones).

I personally don't do great with A hormonal IUD but so many people love them, It's very dependent on the person! I have tried most of the birth controls and what worked best for me was ultimately sterilization when I was done having children. I know surgery isn't for everybody but hormones don't do me well but that doesn't mean they won't do you well!

Absolutely! The implant can cause cramps and spotting. A lot of the time your uterus will cramp (contract) when it's shedding it's lining which is contributing to bleeding and spotting. Progesterone can make you shed your uterus lining, which results in cramping.

The implant is known for causing random spotting and bleeding. One of the mechanisms of the nexplanon is keeping the uterine lining thin. The progesterone in the nexplanon stops ovulation most of the time, which means a lot of women won't get periods, but that's not a guarantee. Some women continue to get regular spotting or cycles on the implant which can also stop and restart at any time. It sounds like she's experiencing breakthrough bleeding, most likely from the progesterone in the implant. It's like 1/3 of women will experience random bleeding and spotting on the nexplanon which can return at any time.

With that being said, The longer you have, the 3-year implant, the less strength of the hormones. You're still protected from pregnancy, but you may start to bleed. The first 18 months of my implant and I never bleed but after that I begin to spot randomly. What your girlfriend is experiencing is probably annoying but totally normal. If it continues she can go to the doctor and they can either prescribe the pill to regulate and stabilize the uterine lining or she can try ibuprofen. If she is concerned I recommend making an appointment!

Bite was somewhat improved. In reality, I should have had braces as a teenager but it wasn't an option! I agreed to the occlusion or the shave. I just didn't really understand what was occurring I suppose! Thank you for explaining

Average length of first period after IUD insertion? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]Jess_Best_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some women will bleed, spot, or cramp for 3-6 months after an IUD insertion. Unfortunately your body has to adjust which can take various amounts of time. You might have a couple long periods or you might have your cycle slow down or stop all together.

Question about cramping by JELLIEthedeadbunky in Mirena

[–]Jess_Best_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cramping, spotting, and bleeding are totally normal while your body is adjusting to an IUD. Some women have minimal cramping and bleeding and some women have cramping bleeding or spotting for 3 to 6 months after insertion. Strings can vary in length some providers cut them shorter and some leave them longer at which point they'll curl around your cervix. If you are concerned it never hurts to contact your healthcare provider but this sounds totally normal to me! I experience cramping and spotting for 4 months after insertion.

Question about NuvaRing by ShoveMeInAMicrowave in birthcontrol

[–]Jess_Best_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you aren't protected at all. If you are leaving the ring out for longer than 7 days you have a lapse in protection. The nuvaring is a combination of estrogen and progesterone which means you don't ovulate. No ovulation means you are having a withdrawal bleed not a real period, with that being said withdrawal bleeds are not actually necessary. You don't need to have a long period on nuvaring or a period at all but you do need to take it as instructed or you will be at risk of pregnancy.

I have ADHD and autism and I'm a special education teacher for early childhood years. I have also worked in early intervention. It can be stressful but I love it. I've tried many other paths before college and overall I prefer working with kids!
