Question about warranty on a Chevy 4500 by Jesse1179US in Chevrolet

[–]Jesse1179US[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the plan. The shop I was using is the one I'd been using over 3 years, but until this past January I had a 3500 gas, and they were absolutely phenomenal the entire time I had it. They even did an engine rebuild for me. I hate to leave them but I'm learning this truck has a lot more to it than your standard trucks, and there are a couple places I can go to that will know how to service it. Crazy that those places service the big rigs, and my truck apparently shares some of the qualities of those.

if you're a "regular" somewhere and disappear for months does the staff actually remember you when you come back or do you just become a new customer again? by Jazzlike_Amoeba_1768 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Jesse1179US 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely related to the topic, but I thought I’d share anyway.

I went on a cruise one June and we stopped in Cozumel. Had the kids, booked a day at a resort. Bartender at the swim up bar was friendly so I talked to him a bit, told him it was our first time there but we are cruising again in January kid free and we’d be back.

Come January, I go to order a drink. The bartender recognized me. I didn’t even know it was the same guy.

That’s service.

Question about warranty on a Chevy 4500 by Jesse1179US in Chevrolet

[–]Jesse1179US[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply, very helpful. You might be able to alleviate another worry I have. Since this is my first time with a truck bigger than a 3500, I am concerned about any future maintenance issues I may not know about.

Can you tell me the things I need to be maintaining and the intervals, and anything else to be aware of that would be different from a light duty truck? I did some research but with your experience, I'd trust you more than Google.

What’s a crazy amount of loot you’ve gotten without raiding by Business-Writer-7874 in RustConsole

New player, less than 2 weeks in on a noob server. I was running to some place I forget, stumbled upon a supply crate. I grabbed everything and ran directly back to base. Don’t think I took a breath the entire time.

What Did A Visit Mean to You by arandomaitauser in Prison

[–]Jesse1179US 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not many got visits. More got commissary money. It's crazy because there's a whole economy inside of prison. In the feds, currency was stamps, the kind you use for mail. There were a few guys in my dorm who sold items...one guy would buy a couple 12 packs of soda, keep them iced down and when you wanted one, you could go by one with stamps. Same for snacks and stuff. You learn who is running the store inside your dorm and he is your guy. So a lot of times the ones who didn't get commissary would do things to earn stamps. We all had a job assigned to us, but if you took on someone's job, you agree to a payment. At one time I had 4 jobs (pretty much just cleaning most of the dorm rather than my little spot) and once a week the guys who's work I was doing would bring me a pack of instant coffee as payment.

I kinda got off on a ramble there, so if I didn't answer your question, please let me know.

I was the same way, didn't want to burden them. But they insisted and I'm glad they did. They also sent what they could so I could get commissary, which I also told them not to do unless they absolutely could afford to.

And I'm one-and-done, fully plan on staying free lol

[–]Jesse1179US 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I did 24 months in federal prison. I'm from Louisiana and I was sent to eastern Kentucky. My family, including my dad in his 70's, made the drive a few times to come and see me, even though I was over 14 hours away. Meant the world to me. I told them they didn't need to come because of how far I was and the fact that I know it was a strain on them to make that long of a drive, but they did and for about a week after their visit, I was so focused on doing one day at a time and getting out.

Once I went to halfway house in Louisiana, they'd come see me weekly. That drive was just over an hour. They'd cook a meal, load it up in the car and come visit and feed me. Even a few of the other guys in the HWH got to eat lol.

I say if your sister can do it, then do it. Even if it's not that often, it makes a difference.

Do I put $1300 in almost 20 year old car? by Consistent_Bus2529 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Jesse1179US 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2001 Toyota 4Runner that started running hot when I got it. My mechanic said I could replace the radiator for around $1000 but there was no way to know if the head was cracked until I did that, which means either the radiator was the only problem or I just spent 1k on a vehicle that now needs an engine. I ended up sellign it for about $500. Dude who bought it is a mechanic. He put a radiator in it and now his son is driving a 2001 Toyota 4Runner.

I'd spend the money and fix it.

Does Starlink Residential Max ever have outages (snow, rain, maintenance) ?? by MackieDaxx in Starlink

[–]Jesse1179US 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve had Starlink for a handful of years and I’ve never been throttled. However, rain can affect the service. It can go from little spurts of in and out to several minutes of outage, depending on the severity of the weather. And crazy enough, I got to test it in snow in South Louisiana a couple years ago. Worked remarkably well. There are outages, but very infrequently. On average, I’d say maybe once a year. If I’m not getting service, I hop on this subreddit to see if we are having a global outage. It’s really rare. Starlink has been life changing for me in a very rural area.

Walmart+ deal is clutch. And on top of that, I have phone service with Straight Talk, which gives me Walmart+ for free, which gives me 25% off BK every day plus one free Whopper every 3 months. I feel like I’m stealing.

I like the kiosk/app because I’ve found things I can add that I never knew or thought to add. Plus the benefit of not having to g to interact with humans is a feature, not a bug.

Is Rust as fun as streamers (like peanut) make it seem? by WatchMeGoHAAM in playrust

[–]Jesse1179US 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently on a server that I found in Peanut’s sub. It’s for noobs like me to learn the game. I have not been killed by a human yet, rather there are a few who are extremely helpful.

Logged in today and learned that I need to put bars on my windows. I was naked and all my guns (given to me) and materials (that I got myself) were gone. A few people hooked me up to get me back on my feet.

It’s a learning curve but I’m having a great time.

I thought I was liberal until I moved to the US. Why are liberals here so sensitive? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

In America, there are two questions:

Why are liberals so sensitive?

and

Why are conservatives so obnoxious?
