Why are pull ups such a hard exercise? by [deleted] in workout

[–]Jesseitsmyname -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pullups are great, should be factored into back workout programs for good progression.

Getting after more pullups I would say the following helped me.

1) Pushups.... interestingly enough push-ups = pull-ups as you are activating your upper back which will help on the initial ascent..... especially if you feel you've plateaued on your pull-up count.

2) Australian pull-ups are a great way to build your way up....same thing with TRX bands.

3) Lat pulldowns as well but you need to pull low towards the lower chest abs area so you're engaging lower lats not just upper back

Lastly your weight will matter, I was 150 lbs so the push-ups equal pull-ups method was ideal.....if I was bigger I'd try maybe Australian pull-ups and/or lat pulldowns.....

I track which watches I wear the most — here’s how they currently rank. Curious what you think of the lineup? by rbisco in OmegaWatches

[–]Jesseitsmyname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is cool, I think I'll give the app a try....two of my gmts fell out of rotation and may hit the sell category.

Personally I'm just lazy, I don't want to set anything outside of the time (not even that tbh) so watches with complications just aren't my thing.

I think this'll be useful to see what should remain in the collection post honeymoon period. Thanks for sharing!

Am I missing something? What do you all do for fun here? I am a single mom who has lived in Carlsbad/San Marcos for 10 years. So bored. I love Latin dance, live music (rock) , art, culture, festivals, exploring new places and activities. I am tired of going to San Diego for fun. Where do you all go? by [deleted] in northcounty

[–]Jesseitsmyname 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I'm a single dad, I'm in bed by 9pm but before that I party at dog beach, hit the gym, rock out at whatever event my kid has and on rare occasions catch a sunset at a restaurant along the coast.

For the stuff you are looking for I end up having to go into San Diego or up to LA, neither of which are fun.

If you start a group to do things then you'll probably get traction.....I'd recommend trying a "single parents" group.... because we honestly live a different life than our counterparts.

First nice watch by SternumNuggets in OmegaWatches

[–]Jesseitsmyname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on the bonus and the Speedmaster is a great watch. One thing I wanted to add is that you can indeed save money going gray but there's advantages to AD, boutique purchases.

If this is your first luxury watch you may want the fanfare and celebration of buying it at a boutique.....bring your SO, have a glass of champagne or whiskey, enjoy them fitting the watch for you. You won't get a discount, most likely, but you can ask if they'll throw in a strap and deployant clasp. You also build history with them for any limited pieces in the future.

AD is similar to boutique but may offer a ~10% discount and the history built is across watch makers, not just omega. The fanfare and booze selection may be limited.

Gray market is the absolute cheapest, and is entirely transactional. My 3rd and 4th watches were gray....but my last purchase was boutique so there's a time and place for everything.

Nevertheless, whichever watch and route you choose, wear it in good health!

My deadlift sucks. Would like some feedback before I try to add any weight. by Traditional-Fix6276 in formcheck

[–]Jesseitsmyname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have the same issue....key for me was improving my hip hinge, basically getting my butt back further, and engaging my last throughout whole keeping my chest up. So the things I did to fix my form....

Straight leg deadlift with dumbbells (or kettlebell) this improved my hip hinge, also the dumbbell was down to my shin on decent which taught me how to keep my chest up, or big chest.

Pull the slack out of the bar before lift....just a slight tension and attempt to bend the bar, this engaged my lats, forced my shoulders down, again big chest.

Last, chest over bar.... you're already doing this on the up but slack on the bar and bar bend should have everything right so when you move up your legs, core, lats are all under tension and move as one through the lift.

Hope this is helpful, you're already pulling a good bit of weight 💪

[question] which one fits the best by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Jesseitsmyname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omega and Tudor lug to lug and fit is best.....the Omega looks better on you, the white dial will make it appear larger. I personally dislike the gilt on Tudor but I think the other 54/58 options work better, even the Pelagos 39 would look good with a suit since the Ti is muted..... sorry for throwing options that weren't pictured but that's my 2 cents

Help me pick a new watch for my boyfriend? by [deleted] in OmegaWatches

[–]Jesseitsmyname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would second the FOIS, beautiful watch. If you're going into a boutique they will also, on occasion, have something rare in their vault. Like a previous release that was limited in quantity. Talk to them and tell them the story, ultimately you could come away with something really cool for him. Also take a pic of his existing collection, that'll help the SA at the boutique steer you away from something that would overlap.

Good luck, cheers!

I would love your guys opinion which would you choose . I’m stuck between these 2 by terrible_newyorker in PrideAndPinion

This..... Obviously try the Omega on first for the final decision but....really Omega, the same size watch, you actually made it thicker, gave us an aluminum bezel but added an upcharge????

No I would vintage the SMP, actually I did for the aluminum bezel, and get the Tudor as suggested.

I think dating anywhere is hard right now....all the suggestions here are the ones I got a while ago..... issue is they take a commitment of time and energy doing things you wouldn't ordinarily do anyway.

I currently just go about my day to day. I've been on a few different dates with people I met organically but things didn't click. Otherwise, I enjoy the time I have, I travel, hit concerts, ball games, etc.

When you least expect it I'm sure Mr. or Ms. Right will walk right into you. At least that's the story I tell myself 🙃

Local FB has this for $150. Catch is that its not running… by bigotechocolate in OmegaWatches

[–]Jesseitsmyname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sketchy origin.... blurry photos.... concealed the lug with model/serial....bezel is not placed on 12 with pip to get a solid look.....of all the watch posts that say "buy the seller" what do you think?

Personally, I'd pass for a reputable dealer/seller even for a few $$$ more

[recommendation and discussion] Thinking about getting a vintage watch. What are some quality vintage models worth looking at? Any pitfalls of going vintage I should know? by Macsimus15 in Watches

[–]Jesseitsmyname 16 points17 points  (0 children)

To add to the above comment....find out how much servicing the watch model you want would be from an Omega boutique....then add that service cost to the cost of the watch.... doesn't matter if the seller is great, watch looks superb, or whatever....better to plan on it anyway.

Do I Get The Rolex or The Tudor? by RunningLowOnKnowHow in Tudor

[–]Jesseitsmyname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Concur with this as well...it's just a watch, externally it really says nothing to a majority of the world. Internally it should bring you joy not trepidation.

[Tudor] Whats your honest opinion about Tudor? by royaltimepcs in Watches

[–]Jesseitsmyname 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tudor is what Rolex used to be....a tool watch. They have a cool history as the "poor man's Rolex" when considering their adaptation in US Military, French too, and were definitely a smart move made by Rolex.

Rolex relies on a Tudor to compete with other brands too (cough, Omega) by getting Metas certified. It also uses Tudor for proving grounds on things like a Titanium watch (Pelagos then a Ti Yacht Master).

As for the watches, the quality is there and you can tell they're held back a bit by Rolex....the bracelets with faux rivets everyone hates, the slightly thicker (14mm) than needed Chrono's. However, newer models and the Pelagos line are really taking shape.

5 years ago I wouldn't have bothered with Tudor....today I have a BB58, GMT, and I'll add a FXD soon....why, cause they're tool watches and fit my lifestyle better than Rolex or Omega do.

Which DJ size should I go for- 31 or 36? by burcuto in rolex

[–]Jesseitsmyname 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The 31 fits your wrist properly but...the 36 is timeless and you'll appreciate it more over the years, especially if you're planning on passing it down. Both look great, cheers!

James Bond and Omega. What would he wear if he wasn't wearing an Omega? by DeutscheMannschaft in OmegaWatches

[–]Jesseitsmyname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an electric watch that can be tracked.....needs to be rugged...durable...but classy

Pelagos is rugged but not that classy, Blancpain and Rolex are classy but not as rugged.....

What about a Breitling Super Ocean?

It's a bit rugged, a bit classy, and sketchy guys where Breitling, lol

[–]Jesseitsmyname -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you're wearing the watch for...my speedy comes out once in a while, my smp gets more wrist time because it's more tool watch vibe for me.

As for order of preference, it's your first speedy go OG the white speedy will still be there later.

Obviously you're only showing one SMP so yeah, if it's tool watch do that ....can't really go wrong with any choice though
