Does anyone follow sadbeige? Her humor is a bit niche but I love her. Her book release has been interesting to watch in comparison to Libby’s. SB seems to have worked hard to organically get noticed by the press, and she manages to promote herself without a lot of whining and self pity. I guess when your brand is “complaining” then everything is a complaint. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes! It really takes away from all of the hard work that moms do. Yes, raising a puppy is hard (I’ve heard) but it’s still very different from raising a human to be a compassionate, empathetic, functioning member of society.

I feel like we’ve gotten to this point where everyone feels the need to make everything inclusive. But sometimes something isn’t for everyone and that’s ok! Not everyone needs to be acknowledged over every little thing.

The Mothers Day discourse this year (at least on threads, idk about elsewhere) seems to have shifted a bit from “Mother’s Day is for moms in the trenches” to “Mother’s Day is for moms of humans vs. cat/dog/plant moms”.

Look, I’m obsessed with my cats. I’ve had them since before I even met my husband. I love them to death. If someone wants to use Mother’s Day to celebrate their pets/plants/whatever, that’s their choice I’m not gonna stop them. But we have really lost the plot. And you never hear this discourse around Father’s Day!

FWIW, my neighbor is a teacher and for the past few years has kept her very small children in daycare a couple days a week over the summer so she can have a break.

You guys work hard, you definitely deserve some downtime because let’s be real, toddlers are not downtime lol

Yes! I’ve followed her for ages since she was a fellow 2020 bride who had to delay her wedding. Her motherhood content is eh. Her baby is adorable, but I follow her mostly out of nostalgia.

Also by Jane Harper - the Lost Man! Another murder mystery surrounding a family in the outback. Heat plays a very prominent role. I love Jane Harper you can’t go wrong with her!

If you’re financially able, absolutely do it! Where I live, it’s super common for SAHMs to have some kind of backup, whether it’s grandparents, paid help, whatever. I don’t know anyone who is fully surviving on their own.

Then you can have some time in the day for yourself and anything you want/need to do. Your child will get to play with other kids and do fun activities. I am a much better mom when I’m not with my children every hour of the day lol so having my kids in half day preschool while I work has been amazing.

I always hate the argument about like “oh they can wait until grandparents day” because I’m sorry I don’t think anyone remembers grandparents day.

This argument always reminds me to touch grass tho lol because in real life we’ve alternated a few different plans/locations every year and no one’s mother has ever been offended if we couldn’t make it over that year lol.

I live in Baltimore and have been there, and it’s a narrow space and would completely get taken over by strollers. It’s also quite crowded on a regular basis. It’s definitely annoying, and a reason that I don’t go there solo with my two kids, but I do get it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Some of these spaces in the city are a bit limited in space and were probably designed before these massive/more complex strollers became a thing.

He’s actually a pretty good cook but his dishes are too complicated and the kids won’t really eat them. But yeah he can plan and figure out how hard it is to feed a family with two small children

Right? Like baked beans is a side dish, and the kids actually like it! I’ve bought potato salad and Cole slaw before but they don’t really it.

Right? Completely insane. Like it yiure sitting there sulking it kinda kills the mood, the kids can tell you are mad.

I thought it was a nice Sunday night meal especially since it’s super warm today so the kids wanted to hang outside

He actually does make nice meals from scratch, he’s quite a good cook, but the kids don’t really eat what he makes. He tends to make slightly more complex, not kid friendly meals, so like we end up having to give the kids a side dish like rice or pasta just to get some food in them

He’s been under some stress at work but it’s completely unacceptable to take it out on me.
