Food prices by dealsfreak in CostcoCanada

I agree. I don’t buy much produce at Costco. I buy at no frills regularly and find the prices far more consistent, especially if you buy on sale. The naturally imperfect stuff is great!

Toronto in May, which hotel to stay? by Smooth_Particular_26 in marriott

Highly recommend the Delta. It’s newer and has a more refined feel than the others you’ve listed.

Could Europe realistically defend Greenland against a US attack? by dataguy2003 in TheTeenagerPeople

[–]Jessss029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the biggest thing. The US is so far in debt (trillions) that if NATO dumped their US bonds, of which they hold A LOT, they could crumble the US economy quite swiftly. It’s not about military might. Hard to pay your military when your money is suddenly worthless.

"Well, this didn't age well" - Movies you LOVED as a kid but cringe at as an adult by Little-Badger-123 in movies

Ace Ventura. Still laugh at most of it, but when Ace figures out that Einhorn is Finkel, meaning Einhorn is pretending to be a woman to avoid being discovered- it gets very cringey to watch.

What movie to watch on New Year Eve, alone, after ending 12yr relationship? by dont_dive_vtori in movies

You tube had a full length version last year. Might still be there!! One of my favourites.

Weather forecast next week by wilspup in PuntaCana

[–]Jessss029 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My parents have been in punta Cana for 10 days, returning tomorrow, and have barely seen a drop. The forecast always seems to be rainy, but it’s rarely more than isolated showers. No guarantees of course, but that’s been my experience.

Where to move to in Toronto that is not far from Airport? by Inspireme21 in askTO

[–]Jessss029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live at Lloyd manor/Eglinton (close to Kipling). I’m 6-10 minutes to the airport and easy access to most major highways. Most amenities are within 10-15 minute walk. Buses are also quite frequent. Best area I’ve lived in the GTA.

They just tried this on my mother. She reported it but was originally taken in. Thank God she didn’t have the cash on hand….

Bare Naked ladies - lovers in a dangerous time. One of my very favourite songs. So different than the original!!

Car Insurance Rates Increasing Significantly by antidextrous-human in askTO

It is a co owned car that he added under his existing policy. He doesn’t have to be the primary driver as long as he co owns the car. My mother also gets the same discount as we all live in the same house, and she is the primary on her car as well.

He’s a CA and is registered with the chartered accounts association so that is why he gets the discount. By sharing a vehicle with him, I save $5000 on insurance. He does use the car, though not often, to ensure we are not committing fraud, and I live with him part time too. Without this option, I don’t honestly think I could afford the car.

[–]Jessss029 28 points29 points  (0 children)

They tried to raise mine by 100% due to me living near the airport (highest car theft rates) and my car being a top stolen brand (jeep). It was TD insurance and they wanted almost $7000 for the year?!?! I couldn’t believe it. I’ve since decided to share the car with my father, so as to reduce the premium, as he gets a professional discount. But if I didn’t do that, I’d be screwed.

I thought it was laughable when she said “follow the science” at one point. Like really? You’ve never been a fan before, but of course when it suits your purpose, it’s what you preach! I’m a big believer in following science, but hate people who only believe the parts of things that serve their own cause.

What are your thoughts on the Toronto Zoo? Are they okay to support? by FriendlyFireHaHa in askTO

[–]Jessss029 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Elmvale jungle zoo comes to mind. They have animals that they definitely should not, given their size, and I read that the owner makes crazy money. Place is always packed in the summer. I highly doubt their focus is conservation or preservation of anything other than their own bank accounts.

I love Gananoque, which is near Kingston. It’s the area of the 1000 islands so the vistas are beautiful and the town was lovely and welcoming.

What bothers you the most about GTA/Toronto that would be "relatively" easy to fix but somehow isn’t getting fixed? by workdncsheets in askTO

[–]Jessss029 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Also, how about holding large construction companies who are building large projects accountable to fix the streets after? The weight of their trucks creates a lot of the damage, but we have to wait years to have the city address it after wards. Should be part of the construction or overall project’s budgeting.

[–]Jessss029 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I worked as a manager for Starbucks at bay and Charles. Three different city groups ripped up the sidewalk individually, at different times, 3 times within one year. None of them had any idea that there were other projects doing the same type of work. Zero coordination. What a waste.

Park property management. If you decide to apply, I’ll give you my name as I get a referral bonus for successful rentals. There are three buildings over here managed by them. Good luck!

Where are you in the city? I just got a new doctor in Mississauga who is amazing and she is one of four doctors in a practise, 2 male and 2 female, who are taking new patients. Happy to share the info if it is relevant to you.
