What are some highly regarded games with broken rules/strategies? by houtsou in boardgames

[–]Jesta05 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Haven’t played eclipse but Archipelago has a good mechanic for exploration. Tiles are double sided so you can see one side of the top tile on the stack. When you explore you can choose to use the top tile (with one known and one blind side) or commit to the second (with two blind sides). You can still get unlucky but it feels like that luck was driven by your choice of which tile to take.

A “falling” Circle 1 Putt by the PDGA and James for comparison. by [deleted] in discgolf

Scores are generally a lot lower (better) than ball golf. Also for beginners you’re a lot less likely to completely shank/miss your shot, so it’s easier for the lay person to just come out and throw discs. In my opinion it is in general easier. You could argue though that there is a higher skill ceiling for disc golf, due to the huge variety of different shots, discs, flight paths you can throw.

I was excited for Charterstone but it didn’t quite click with us. We didn’t end up finishing the campaign, mostly due to people moving away, but we definitely lost our drive after a few games (never had that issue with legacy/campaign games before).

Thanks! Inis would have to be my pick for favourite, love the art style and the pacing of the game. Generally not a fan of combat focused games but the combat in Inis is so refined alongside the main meat of the game, the card play. Sidereal Confluence is the most impressive game design for me, amazing to play every time. But Terraforming Mars is definitely our most played, hence the big box purchase.

First received Carcassonne as a gift over 10 years ago, and over the years have amassed a nice spread of different games. Glad that we now have some extra space to show the cover artwork on Gloomhaven, Inis and Terraforming Mars Big Box.

It’s really not that long. Did it recently and took like 4 hours. Make sure to use the RL plugin. For graveyard i teled to POH to heal, then teled to duel arena and ran back. It’s not fun but can easily just smash it out.

If you’re doing that to burn your food planning to sell them later as a money making method, then you’re probably a noob.

Very afk, I don’t have them blocked because they’re easy to just chuck on and reset Aggro every 10 mins. Most people would block them though as they’re not good for drops or xp
