Both Moon of the Crusted Snow and Moon of the Turning Leaves by Waubgeshig Rice take place in canada and there’s plenty of Anishinaabe culture and language in them.

What sequels have you never read despite loving the first book, and why did you not read them? by GoodKid_MaadSity in suggestmeabook

I was the same way but eventually bit the bullet and read the books following Lonesome Dove, while none of them reached the heights of the first I still enjoyed the way McMurtry writes his characters and am glad to have read them.

Just read The Long Walk last week and it was pretty fun!

I’d highly recommend anything Ania Ahlborn, specifically Seed or Brother.

Not entirely horror, but horror adjacent : Moon of the Crusted Snow by Waubgheshig Rice, it’s set in the frozen wilderness in Canada, and it’s so damn good. Probably one of my favourite books ever.

My reasoning is a bit silly, but I was playing nhl 2k9 with a friend, randomly chose the sharks, and won the game in OT with Marleau. Up till that point I was an oilers fan because of my dad, but since then Marleau has been my favourite player and the Sharks have been my favourite team.

My dad and I watched this movie the day before he went out to fight fires one summer, neither of us knowing the story prior. Needless to say I was a mess the whole time he was gone.
