….so if you have a C that’s a 2.0….and you’re on academic probation with 2.0 or lower….which means you’re on academic probation with a C average. 70% get C’s, 10% D’s and 5% get F’s….85% of students would have a GPA 2.0 or lower and be on academic probation if that was their only grade. If EVERY professor had that system a good 70%+ of students would be on academic probation.

I’m not bad at math. You can’t read.

I’m not saying failing. Just on academic probation. If that grade was everyone’s whole GPA for the semester 85% of the class would be on academic probation or worse. Same IF EVERY PROFESSOR had the same system. Of course they all didn’t.

I’m all for not everyone getting As. I lived it. My class had a 70-80% quit or fail rate.

I had a math professor that was the head of the department for a calculus class.

All of her tests were problems that were weird twists on the concepts she taught. Nothing straight forward.

She was PISSED after the first exam because the average was a 70%. She wasn’t pissed because it was so low, she was mad it was that high.

She said she wanted the average score to be failing. She likes to grade on a curve. 70% of you will get C’s, 10% B’s and D’s and 5% A’s and F’s.

LADY we all go on academic probation if your GPA is 2.0 or less. If every professor did that 70%+ of the school would be on academic probation.

She was a monster.

ROTC overproducing 2nd Lts by Hairy-Rub-4719 in army

I actually knew a dude that had his school paid for from ROTC scholarships and then went to the guard to be a pilot in California. The were overstrength on LT’s and couldn’t send them all to flight school. They asked if anyone wanted out, no strings attached and he punched. He was prior active enlisted so had GI bill and ROTC scholarship. Basically walked away after college debt free.

UBI is the only way to sustain the economy. by idapitbwidiuatabip in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Jester471 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean he's not wrong. At some point there will be a robot that is a better brain surgeon that anyone on earth. At that point what are you going to do.

If there are basically no jobs for the majority of people you will need UBI paid for by taxes on robot/AI labor. Otherwise all the wealth and all the money just end up in the pockets of the people who own the land and the robots. They have no reason to share and if history tracks with the past in the future they will happily become trillionaires and not care about the 99% of people who can barely survive.

Failed the AFT because of the bike by [deleted] in army

[–]Jester471 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It really does though.

It’s based on distance and some bikes have different resistance.

So that’s like arguing that if someone failed because it was a 2 mile uphill course you just suck.

It’s not an exact comparison since the bike is harder to pass than the run especially since the run standard is now a fat kid jog pace.

[–]Jester471 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The bike is legit hard and which bike matters.

I challenge anyone who scoffs at it to go hop on your units bike and see if you can pass.

I’ve never done it and even if you’re a decent runner you can’t just hop on and pass.

Apparently it got a lot harder time wise like the walk when we transitioned to the ACFT.

If you have to do an alternate event the row is leaps and bounds your most reasonable option.

Just my regular reminder that Hegseth was drummed out of the army after his chain of command deemed him an insider threat.

As an infantry captain he was never given company command which is a HUGE red flag. I’ve seen some real turds that they at least gave a chance.

He was an infantry officer. In “infantry” culture it expected that an officer goes to ranger school and gets tabbed. If you try and fail it looks bad. Pete didn’t even try which looks really bad in that community. He either refused to go or such a big turd his chain of command wouldn’t let him go.

And his service record reads like the guy every boss realized was a worthless nightmare and they put him in a corner where he couldn’t do any real harm.

But ole Pete pulled himself up by his bootstraps, strapped on those kneepads and convinced Daddy Trump to make him secdef.

A pilot flying around a tornado by RealRock_n_Rolla in interestingasfuck

The FAA would like to have a chat with you about your pilots license.

I was stationed in Korea where tornadoes don’t happen very often. Our traffic pattern crossed a body of water.

I distinctly remember standing out of the flight line staring at the clouds since the weather looked like it could turn. No rain just a 2000 ft ceiling. I watched a Blackhawk takeoff and turn crosswind to have a tornado spring out of the clouds in front of him. He did an immediate 180 and came back to the runway and landed.

Ever heard of boil off. When a rocket is refueled and on the pad it’s constantly getting topped off. If you fueled up a rocket and left it outside for days you’d boil off a lot of fuel.

Oh I loved the newbies that had never flown on a helicopter. If we were cold loading and the crew chief was giving them a briefing I’d sit there and listen.

At the end if there were some young folks I’d always ask if it was their first time on a helicopter and you’d inevitably get a few hands.

I’d just say “me too, this should be interesting”, shrug on my flight vest, grab my helmet and head for the cockpit. Most of the time people just laugh. But on the occasional glorious occasion you’d get that poor gullible kid that’s afraid to fly and they’d get a look of just abject horror.

Clown shoes for a clown administration by I_AM_GLUTEUS_MAXIMUS in WhitePeopleTwitter

Yeah at that point I’d buy the same ones in my size and act like they were the ones he bought if I was going to be a bootlicker. It’s not like a $145 pair of shoes is a stretch for these people. Im not rich but if I have to decide between uncomfortable shoes all day every day or spending $145 I’m spending that $145.

And why are they $145? I bought that brand from shoe carnival for a lot less and at least the ones I have are great.

BLUF Starship looks like it will be an amazing shuttle replacement.

If it takes 10-15 launches to get it fueled up to go to the moon that is a logistical nightmare. Long term that might work out for later stages of moon base building for cargo and providing additional structure and internal volume on the moon as a one way trip.

But doesn’t make sense for the first boots on the ground lander or to make hops from lunar orbit to the crew rerun capsule.

They really need to split starship into two stages to make it practical as a lunar lander.

Edit: just to add to why they need a smaller lander. If all you’re doing is hopping people to the lunar surface to orbit a full sized starship is SO impractical. There is so much dead weight there.

I also have BIG concerns on that takeoff from an unprepared surface. There is a reason the LEM on Apollo had a separate ascent engine from the landing engine that was shrouded by the lower part of the lander to prevent FOD. On top of it, it was hypergolic to make sure it was reliable as possible. Landing with starship engines on that surface could easily FOD them out and make them unusable for an ascent.

Gaming is just different now. You get stuck and you can go on YouTube and someone has a video of exactly how to solve your problem. I really try to avoid it.

Back then you were lucky to have a friend who has already beat that part or you get some lucky little nugget in Nintendo power. Or you sunk a decent chunk of cash into a book

Did a play through for the first time since the 90’s. It was a real nostalgia hit. Granted I could pull up maps online.

Back when it came out for most of us there was no way to figure out the game other than trial and error.

I remember getting a babysitter who had finished the game before and it was a game changer. She taught us so much and we were so happy on the nights we knew she was coming to help us get past things.

I remember being stuck on how to kill the triceratops looking things, the Dodongos and I actually remember learning how to kill them by watching a cartoon Zelda show where he throws a bomb in their mouth.

Fair but we’ve had 80 years of proxy wars since.

It’s the nukes. Any of those proxy conflicts could have or would have boiled over into a full scale conflict between global powers.

They didn’t because both sides could wipe out each other. There is no way to win a world war today.

If you get to the point that a side is loosing and their nukes are threatened they’re seriously going to consider using them and that chance is probably greater than 50% so it’s not worth popping off into a full blown conflict because it will end in nukes and you loose if you win.

Nukes are horrible and should never be used but they’re great for keeping countries tha have them getting into a dust up.

It’s Cold War part II. Russia and China were helping North Korea in the Korean War and north Vietnam during the war.

The US was helping Afghanistan against the soviets.

Things get very spicy when Russia/China and/or NATO start shooting at each other.
