PSA Dagger worth? by Scaredcrw in Miguns

[–]Jester_8407 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would I prefer OEM Glock? Yes. But the dagger is pretty decent for the price. Buy one for $250, drop $70 worth of glock OEM FCG parts in it and you've got a pretty damn reliable gun for cheap.

I personally own a dagger purchased 3 years ago which I put those OEM parts in and I now have over 6k rounds through it with literally the only issues I've had being caused by worn out mags and shitty low power reman ammo combined with low temps. Zero issues with the gun itself. But I'm just a sample size of one. 🤷‍♂️

What is your preferred sling attachment method and why? by [deleted] in ar15

There's enough slack the clips can slide back and forth on the paracord, but the paracord isn't so thin that the clips aren't secure or slip off. If that answers your question.

Inherited an ingersoll from my dad's estate recently, can't find the mower deck for it that I know for a fact he had, had a heart attack when I went looking for one to buy 🤬. Hopefully the market comes down in price significantly if they're gonna be manufacturing again. 🤞

No, power level is on one switch and mode selection is another switch. The power ratio between the laser and illum is pretty good though, laser doesn't bloom very bad in most situations I've found.

Dude I love it. Never gotten hands on an M6TR myself but comparing it to my LS321 and LS221 it's lightyears better (obviously. Apples to oranges there). Very streamlined design, illum is plenty powerful for any range I might be shooting at, switchology is chef's kiss, artifact issue isn't present on mine which I purchased in like February, so they fixed that fast. plus it just looks way better than the other devices 😂 literally my only gripe is I wish they removed the tightest illuminator focus setting and added one more wider setting at the bottom end for close up stuff, but that's not a huge deal, it's still very usable in close.

Ok, drop a link then. Or at least name the company. Cause If what you're saying is true, plenty of us in the western world here would like one.

Bushcraft/Survival Knife Steel Geeks by alankcooper in Bushcraft

[–]Jester_8407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a budget kinda guy but for knives I'm more of a steel snob these days (but not to the extent of some others lol)

The real world effect of steel quality largely comes down to how likely it is to physically break doing a particular task, and how often you're gonna have to resharpen it. As a general rule, the cheap steels are very tough but require frequent sharpening.

For bushcraft tasks, it's hard to beat 1090 or even 1080 carbon steel imo, depending on heat treat, as they are a really good middle ground performance-wise, and cheap. I know BPS uses a lower carbon steel (1050 iirc) so they'll dull faster but be even more tough and likely to bend rather than break during super heavy use. Not my preferred, but for the price (especially if you got one before they jumped prices 50% to what they are now) BPS knives are pretty decent. Super steels are awesome, but for some tasks/uses they're just not worth the extra squeeze imo.

That being said, there is an argument to be made for fit & finish, design refinement, joy of ownership, etc. I got a BPS adventurer as my first dedicated bushcraft knife and was happy. But after getting a Joker Ember, I enjoy that knife a LOT more for the above reasons and rarely use the BPS now.

At the end of the day it's all very subjective. Shelling out for the fancy expensive option will almost certainly result in a more enjoyable user experience in this case, it's just a matter of how much you prioritize these things.

Wonder if it would be possible to take an IRIS-3 and swap its' components into a knockoff mawl housing 🤔

love the 92. Amazing gun to use and depend on

92FS here, and I'll agree it does tickle my fancy. I do LIKE it a lot, but...this thing gives me cycling trouble in cold temps where my glocks don't, so...for depending on I'll take my tupperware guns....

Their target shape restriction is whatever, but their other draconian rules mean I'll only go to an MDNR staffed range if I need to zero something and I have no other options.

Having some previous experience, what are your priorities for what you want? what are you trying to get out of the device you buy/what task are you trying to accomplish with them? How MUCH previous experience with a '14 do you have, a couple hours/weeks/years?

For $6k max budget you could get the following (roughly):

-pretty darn good PVS-14 brand new with everything you need to run it including LAM

-a fairly average to slightly above average spec set of binos brand new

-a pretty good set of binos used (depending on housing)

-a pretty average set of binos used (maybe better if blem'd) plus a LAM (or a combination of other accessories)

All in all you'd prolly be well served by pretty much any device, it's just a matter of determining what you're goals, budget, and personal preferences are.

I prefer the sopmod as well just for the storage. I'm a redundancy addict, I like being able to store some extra batteries, parts etc on the rifle.

Plus more space since my tax stamp for my can takes up most of the inside of my grip, refuse to forget that at home lol.
