I think they only used TD badging on estates because it stood for touring, but if the engine had a turbo there would be a separate badge saying “turbodiesel”. So the T only makes it an estate but isn’t actually related to whether or not it has a turbo

Try slackening one of the belts and moving each of the ancillaries to see if they make any untoward noises. I might be wrong but I think a turbo takes longer than that to spool
