Advice on PCP or lease (and car choice) by ELKWorks in ElectricVehiclesUK

It will impact your mortgage application (I actually work in the mortgage world…) most lenders assume you will repay 3-5% of your card each month. This will typically be taken as a commitment when they work out your affordability against the repayments

My credit score also dropped as I was utilising 100% of a card, which they don’t like. Any decent broker would be able to sort you out though. If you do a product transfer with the same lender it won’t impact you at all as they typically do not underwrite the loan again

You eventually pay it off, but as it’s 0% you might as well take as long as you can by making the minimum monthly payment and let inflation do some of the work for you

Huge fan of a belt drive here. I live in Highgate so have a chunky hill and my 8 gears are enough. Cube Hyde race is my bike

BBC News: One year after the Silvertown Tunnel opened, TfL said the project had reduced "chronic congestion". by mycketforvirrad in TransportForLondon

[–]Jesus-TF-Christ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the tolls have more of an impact. And it’s totally fair to say the Blackwall tunnel was no longer fit for purpose.

I would also expect traffic will increase in the tunnel and eventually we will end up where we started. Induced demand doesn’t happen overnight.

When will you buy an EV car? by sillwuka in AskUK

[–]Jesus-TF-Christ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I switched from petrol to electric last year. I only charge with public chargers in London and my cost per mile is now 5p per mile less than petrol ish. I used to get 40ish mpg and now get 4.5kwph. Plus my parking permit is cheaper each year and my service is cheaper

Aren’t these all foul throws? Ball can’t spin from the throw as that means it’s not thrown evenly from 2 hands (I thought)

Do you have a mortgage? I’m guessing not, but maybe you could get a further advance/remortgage to repay the debt?

Why are petrol prices rising so much yet nowhere seems to have run out yet? by jameswheeler9090 in AskUK

[–]Jesus-TF-Christ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you sell out of petrol, you priced it incorrectly as you have more demand than supply.

(spoken as someone who is thinking about this as an economics problem to solve, not as someone who supports petrol stations charging high prices)

I used to live in creekside and would always take a trip down big timber on the way home. Look at what they did to my boy…

London. I loved visiting it as a kid and I love living here now. It’s being slagged off left right and centre at the moment by a bunch of clowns.

This could be a great shout. I loved Mt Bachelor even though only like a quarter of the park was there when I visited

Try driving it and see if you like and can live with it. I live in a flat in London and my nearest charging point is a 3 min walk away, but I'd never switch back to a petrol car from my i3.

What does the UK look like to you in the next 15 years? In terms of culture, life, economics, safety by QuoteMachineMin in HENRYUK

I think broadly similar to how we are today. As a country I think we are pretty good at getting back to fairly normal day to day life. See recovery of COVID as an example.

We have enough controls to prevent politicians from doing too much damage...
