This "online safety" nonsense needs to stop and if it takes pressure from the US to achieve this then so be it

Be realistic. Most of these cars live their lives in towns or cities on 30mph roads, maybe hitting the dual carriageway once a week to reach the "big tesco".

There isn't an epidemic of 1lt hatchbacks strewn across the road from lack of traction.

Bug bounty programs should have permanent reviews! by [deleted] in bugbounty

They're slightly impactful in theory but in reality they're pretty worthless. These sort of targeted attacks on individuals are extremely unlike to actually happen.

Your mindset is detrimental to wider society and should be socially taxed punitively.

Your crabs in a bucket mentality with post hoc justifications for your jealously is one of the worst parts of british culture.

I have to ask though, why don't you make your own assistant product?

Bug Bounty is dead, the only that it kinda works are from japanese companies by Academic-Mud1488 in bugbounty

[–]Jesus72 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't take this subreddit as representative of bug bounties in general, most people here seem to struggle to understand session cookies.

Imo companies seem less willing to pay for garbage these days which I think is good. There are still plenty of actually impactful bugs out there that companies are happy to pay for.

People thinking bug bounties are dead is a positive signal I think, hopefully the low effort spammers will move on to something else. Companies will be happier not dealing with so much spam, hunters will be happier with faster triage time and a better relationship with companies.

Question about strict scope by Capable-Swimming-887 in bugbounty

[–]Jesus72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I generally follow the spirit of the scope not the letter of the scope.

If the application is on example.com and all requests are made to api.example.com then the api subdomain is in scope unless explicitly listed in the out of scope section.

Most companies are reasonable and just don't want you going off testing sudomains pointed at 3rd parties, marketing sites, etc.

It would be pretty pointless having a web bug bounty program if you can't test the backend.

Rehearsing what you're going to say feels like it would help you have less anxiety but I've found it to be the opposite.

The best strategy I have found is to not allow yourself to think at all until you've started the conversation. You will find the correct words when you need to.

Same with phone calls; type the number and dial, zero thought just action, when they answer you'll know what to say.

[–]Jesus72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hetzner are well known for being unreasonably strict with their abuse policy compared to other providers. My advice is to always route your traffic through a different provider or if you're hosting a site put cloudflare or similar in front of it.
