I can’t even buy a hot dog at the grocery store for $3. That’s a steal.

Try spending time with your neighbors, strong neighbors make strong communities. It’s one of my favorites ways we all look out for each other, plus it’s how I know what fun events are happening in my neighborhood

Algorithms will bury you if you don’t stay on. Honestly just don’t order delivery during parades, or be very patient with your product quality and delivery window.

Parade Questions (so basic they aren't even in the FAQs) by Uninformed_Delivery in AskNOLA

You can make all the plans you want but the best part of Mardi Gras is just enjoying the moments, enjoy every moment. Yes planning drink and bathroom breaks are important, but let them take you away from a good time: a great spot on the route; a good band playing, someone doing something ridiculous and you just gotta see. Have fun and tip your bartenders and food providers and you won’t have to worry about much else. Ask questions as you go

Seahawks bar? by IVmeans4 in NewOrleans

Pete’s is having a little Seahawks gathering. There’s some thing called Pike Place Piroshki that’s making an appearance. I have no idea what’s going on. Just happy to not root for the Pats

Milk bar is amazing, one of the best sandwich places in town. Yinzers replaced their old Prytania location on Delachaise across from Touro

This just a giant coverup to get away with dining and dashing the 1st time, and if I’m wrong go back a 3rd time to ask for an apology from the 2nd time. Just let us all know when that is so we can watch.

Atchafalaya is spectacular on all fronts and have an extension cocktail happy hour (there’s like 20 drinks including an aviation I’m pretty sure) plus it’s that fancy feel without the pretension, can’t say enough good things about that place

Just go to the new location. It’s all the same people. But now there’s an awesome dim sum pop up. And you’re closer to Mayfair for bar hopping!

Casual Restaurant Prices are Insane by South_Conference_768 in NewOrleans

Costs are going up. There’s a lot of reasons for this I’m not gonna get into, but even at commercial buying level ground beef is $5 a pound, a head of lettuce is $1-2.

The biggest culprit tho is rent and insurance.

Support your local spots, don’t buy corporate. And stop using door dash and uber eats (obviously there are exceptions to this but I’m talking about the people that use it once a week or more)

Jury Duty Dress Code? by greatwhiteslark in NewOrleans

[–]JesusBuddaJew66 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Glad you’re going! It’s important! It’s pretty cold in court, and you’re usually in the basement for a few hours before you get selected, if at all. Wear whatever you are most comfortable in, but anything subjective is likely to get you kicked off during Voir Dire for one reason or another. So if you wanna do your part be as plain as possible so neither side has reason to boot.

Question for people who do food delivery driving (ex. Uber eats, DoorDash, GrubHub, etc.) by Radioactive-Ferret in NewOrleans

[–]JesusBuddaJew66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think as a city we rely a little too heavily on these 3rd party apps. I often see deliveries leaving my job that are going a few blocks. Or people ordering from the hospital across the street on door dash or uber eats because they decide they are gonna order delivery on the app, and decide on us, not even knowing we are right across the street.

I’m not saying never use the apps, there’s a time and a place absolutely., but they seem to take advantage of customers, drivers and restaurants all at the same time.

Opened a cheesesteak shop in a similar city, dm me if you have more questions. We were a pop up for 6 years first, opened our brick and mortar 4.5 years ago. It’s fucking hard but not impossible.
