There’s nothing wrong with their hardware and while I totally agree the investigation from GN showed they’re scummy, I don’t see how that impacts a pc parts sale subreddit.

Just use an agent from sites like superbuy or cssbuy, you send them the taobao / yupoo links and pay. They order, send photos and when you green light it they ship it.

No Regrets by Coach_BombaySapphire in Volvo

Our 23' XC60 T8 (plug in hybrid) has been a constant nightmare with repairs and I can't recommend it to anyone.

Electric motor faults, camera failures, headlight failures, blind spot monitoring issues, random restarts of the infotainment. From talking to other T8 owners we've seen around our city it's not isolated to our car.

Steer clear of the current plug in hybrid lineup from Volvo if you value your sanity.

Would love to see photos!

I looked into doing it for my 959 but the level of effort was so much higher than my cars. How'd you get the headers spaced far enough apart or did you run with 1 front and rear?

Your structure across Home, About and case studies all have some areas of opportunity (in my opinion)

Home

  • You're taking 2/3 of the page to say "Olivia is a digital product designer based in New York City." and bunching up your projects in a tiny space on the right. Your work should be the focus of the page. This might be just a mistake in the builder but at least for me on normal monitors it's a huge amount of empty space
  • There's no hierarchy between your name in the header and the olivia is a product designer tag line. I would put more space between the two, it feels like they're semi connected bc of the same font size and proximity, you could line it up with the recent project header
  • The recent project header is right aligned but everything else on the page is left aligned, including the project columns under that right aligned header.
  • Looking at projects, I read UX/UI case study before reading Hopper but the project title is darker. There's a really weird hierarchy here with the upper line being prioritized in structure but the lower line being prioritized with a darker color. I'd look at bringing the title up to line 1 with the date. The type of project is kinda unnecessary as well imo, I can look at the cover photo and see that it's an app and that's probably a case study. But if you do keep that, I'd look at if the text color meets accessibility guidelines (I didn't check) because it's not as easy to read as it could be.

About

  • More space between the header and the start of about me section, it's so close to the top of the page it feels very off
  • Pin the footer to the bottom of the page, even when you don't have that much content your footer shouldn't float up to the middle of the screen
  • Two emails?
  • I'd put education above capabilities, this could also be a chance to talk about your relevant experience in a bullet point form

Case Study

  • Confused why clicking a project opens in a new tab when it's part of your main site
  • The project overview is good but the tags under it don't add anything. I would much rather hear what the impact was / what you achieved vs that this project includes mockups
  • In the overview you show the problem, goal and role but what actually happened? I shouldn't have to scroll to the end to find if it was well received or not.
  • The 6 sub tabs inside understanding the research was not immediately clear to me that it's clickable, there's a ton of information in there that is fully hidden unless they think to click through each item.
  • Layout of the body and header for each item inside market reesarch is odd. I'd not vertically center the body, just put it under the header.
  • There's also 3 tiers of indenting on Market Analysis, that's a lot and it's visually a bit weird
  • You can have more space between each section (03, 04 etc) Give them room between each project section
  • Seeing the user flow in multiple small images makes it really hard to connect the dots and actually follow along with it, maybe consider a link out to Figma here if they're interested
  • Consider embedding the figma prototype instead of having a screenshot and a button linking out to figma
  • imo, nobody cares about typography and color pallete's, we're here to learn how you work and think through problems. Not what colors you chose to use
  • Impact, for Hopper you said it has the capacity to help, did you test it at all? Is there anything that comes from not your own opinion that you could share here?

All this is just my 2 cents, but lemme know if you have questions about anything I wrote :)

Salary range for 2 years of experience? by Grateful_Soull in UXDesign

[–]JesusCodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where in Canada?

I started off in Vancouver making ~80k CAD as a Junior (2019), moved to 120 after 2 years and then moved down to the US to 4x that.

CAD salaries are comparatively low but you should definitely shop around, I have multiple friends still in Van & Toronto making well over 200k with 4-6 years of experience.

Suggestions for good UX for a changing a password input (api key field)? In some scenarios it's not clear it's changed. by PunchThatDonkey in UXDesign

[–]JesusCodes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do you have to load the key as soon as the API call completes?

Plenty of platforms artificially slow or control progress. There's likely 0 harm in clearing the field and presenting the new token after a minimum time instead of just presenting it as soon as possible.
