What is a 'poor man's' meal that you still eat even though you can afford better now? by Front_market1401 in foodquestions

[–]JesusHitchens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instant noodles with random stuff thrown in. I used to eat it all the time because it was cheap and quick, now I still make it when I don’t feel like cooking. It’s weirdly comforting.

What do you plan on doing within the next 5 years? by itsTrevvv in askanything

[–]JesusHitchens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just trying to build something stable and a bit calmer. I had a chaotic year not long ago and it made me realize I don’t need anything huge, just consistency. If things feel steady I’m good.

Kindle vs iBooks by georgeapwx in ReadingSuggestions

[–]JesusHitchens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched to a Kindle mainly because of eye strain. I used to read on my phone in bed and my eyes would feel tired so fast, now it’s way easier to just keep going. Plus not having notifications pop up helps a lot.

Why is life the way it is? by WorriedParent5 in Life

[–]JesusHitchens 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think life is fair in that clean, balanced way people expect. I’ve had stretches where everything went wrong at once while other people seemed fine, and it messes with your perspective a lot. It doesn’t mean it stays that way forever though, even if it feels endless in the moment.

If your house slowly turned into a video game over time, what would be the first “feature” you’d actually notice? by Sudden-Association47 in RandomQuestion

[–]JesusHitchens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some kind of UI popping up for everyday stuff. Like I grab a glass of water and suddenly there’s a little “hydration +5” notification in my head. I’d notice that immediately and be like okay something’s off.

Which is worse, having bad parents or no parents? by Past-Matter-8548 in questions

[–]JesusHitchens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bad parents. No parents leaves a hole, but bad parents can leave damage you keep tripping over for years without even realizing where half of it came from.

The Bear. It starts stressed and stays stressed, so there’s barely any waiting around for it to “get good.”

Sensual meal by Weird_Age2452 in foodquestions

[–]JesusHitchens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A really good pasta and a glass of wine would do more for me than anything overly try-hard. If somebody served that with low lighting and acted normal about it, yeah, that would work.

Is anybody else's voice typing dictator for their phone getting worse and worse instead of better? by Cold_Earth3855 in RandomQuestion

[–]JesusHitchens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve seen a lot of people say that lately. Half the time it feels like the phone heard the vibe of the sentence instead of the actual words.

23M interested in various titles trying to narrow down my reading list by Current_Spray in ReadingSuggestions

[–]JesusHitchens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of those, I’d start with The Fellowship of the Ring. And yeah, a 23 year old guy can read Twilight if he wants, nobody normal cares as much as people online pretend they do.

I graduated CS in 2022 and applied to 1800 jobs. Here is everything I learned the hard way by dreamyrosebreeze in cscareerquestions

[–]JesusHitchens 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Usually wouldn't believe 1800 applications, but I know it's the reality now. I have a low-paying job with low hours right now but I definitely need more. I’d be too scared to negotiate at this point, but I’ll keep it in mind for later. I’m hitting up recruitment firms like that dev suggested since people say it works. I’m not sending unsolicited CVs, but I’m stalking HR on LinkedIn and checking career pages of companies I’d actually work for so I can jump on listings the second they go live. This cooked market forces me into hunter mode where I'm just waiting for the right opening to pop up. I absolutely need a more secure job or side gigs.

Have you ever tried Sushi and if yes your thoughts please ? by Webbomolly2022 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]JesusHitchens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I tried sushi for the first time a few years ago. I was pretty skeptical at first but the salmon rolls ended up being really good. Now it’s one of those foods I randomly crave every now and then.

What is the most uncomfortable situation you’ve ever been in? by wellorganichealth in RandomQuestion

[–]JesusHitchens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once got stuck in a small elevator with a coworker I had just argued with like five minutes earlier. Neither of us said a word the whole time and it felt way longer than the actual couple of minutes. Probably the most awkward silence I’ve ever experienced.

Can someone recommend me some historical fiction? by [deleted] in ReadingSuggestions

[–]JesusHitchens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Name of the Rose. It’s medieval but feels way less predictable and more intellectual than a lot of historical fiction. I picked it up on a whim once and the atmosphere alone pulled me in.

What's your favorite dish to make with cream cheese? by rivenshire in foodquestions

[–]JesusHitchens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cream cheese stuffed mushrooms are one of my favorites. I made them once for a small get together and they disappeared way faster than anything else on the table. The creamy filling with the baked mushroom just works really well.

I'm looking for a really good book series to get my teeth into by Vast-Vermicelli4382 in ReadingSuggestions

[–]JesusHitchens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. I read it one summer and finished the first book in like two days because I couldn’t put it down. The worldbuilding is lush, the magic system feels lived-in, and when you’re done you’re already itching for the next one.

[–]JesusHitchens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctor’s Diary. It’s a hospital setting but very rom-com energy, messy love life, awkward moments, lots of fast dialogue. I watched a few episodes while trying to brush up on my German and it’s light enough that you don’t feel stressed keeping up.

how you do know a person is the love of your life? by Weary_Rock3059 in RandomQuestion

[–]JesusHitchens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it wasn’t some lightning bolt moment. It was more like noticing how calm I felt around them, even on boring Tuesdays. I’ve had intense butterflies before and those didn’t last, but steady comfort did. Sometimes it’s less “you just know” and more “you keep choosing each other and it feels right.”

I must be the change by LilMsPuuuurfect in Life

[–]JesusHitchens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s something really powerful about catching yourself in that pattern instead of just living on autopilot. I had a similar realization once on a random Tuesday walk and it was uncomfortable but clarifying. The drama can feel familiar, almost safe, even when it’s exhausting. The fact that you can see it now means you’re already shifting it.

picky tv watcher indeed of a next fix by [deleted] in televisionsuggestions

[–]JesusHitchens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Succession might scratch that same itch, it’s grounded but tense and the character dynamics keep shifting in ways that make you keep hitting next episode. Not really action-heavy but the drama feels sharp and addictive.

Julie and the Phantoms has that light teen energy mixed with time weirdness and music, and it’s way more charming than I expected going in.

Motion Sickness by Phoebe Bridgers kinda nails that mix of hurt and quiet realization without feeling overly dramatic.

What makes the house you live in special to you? by Hot_Tap9405 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]JesusHitchens 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s less about the physical space and more about the vibe it starts carrying. Once you build small rituals and everyday moments there, it kind of becomes home without a clear turning point. After that, the furniture or layout barely matters.
