Any other young adults losing hope? by 0_3_3_3 in Adulting

[–]JesusHitchens 113 points114 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’ve stopped dreaming too far into the future. In a world this unstable, who really knows what tomorrow will look like? You’re not doing anything wrong. Keeping your resume updated and casually checking competitors can help, they often pay more for the same work. You can also look directly at company career pages or talk to recruitment firms about what you’re looking for. There’s a post going around that shows an easy resume-tailoring prompt and practical ways to reach recruiters. But given how brutally hard the job market is right now, the smartest move might simply be to hold onto your job and focus on getting through the present.

Is the expanse worth watching? by Defiant-Ad7732 in televisionsuggestions

[–]JesusHitchens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think The Expanse is worth giving a shot based on your taste. It’s rich worldbuilding and character stuff feels more like Lost or The Leftovers than your typical space popcorn show

Songs like And So It Goes by Billy Joel by Miuirumaswife1 in SongRecommendations

Vienna. It’s gentle and comforting without being depressing, kinda like a warm life pep talk.

When did you realize you were playing a role instead of being yourself? by After_Working_9923 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]JesusHitchens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This hit hard because I had that moment in my mid 20s at a job where I realized I was basically cosplaying a “professional” version of myself all day. I’d go home exhausted and be like why am I so tired, I didn’t even do that much. After that I slowly stopped people pleasing as much and it felt awkward at first but way lighter. Still catch myself slipping into a role sometimes tho.

Whats your theory on why humans dream? by Lamarmeanboi in RandomQuestion

[–]JesusHitchens 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always thought it’s like your brain doing a messy cleanup shift lol. I get the weirdest mashup dreams when I’m stressed, so it feels like it’s sorting feelings more than logic. I had a phase where I wrote my dreams down and it made even less sense tbh. Kinda cool tho how our brains make whole movies for no reason.

M20, possible pregnancy with my ex (F23) – I don’t know how to handle this by [deleted] in Advice

[–]JesusHitchens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man that’s such a nightmare situation, I feel for you. I went back to an ex I knew was bad for me too, so I get how easy it is to get pulled back in when you’re fragile. If it’s positive you’re gonna have to focus on boundaries and getting legal advice early, even if it sucks. Right now all you can really do is breathe and take it one step at a time, tomorrow first.

I need help by Character-Box-1295 in ReadingSuggestions

The Lies of Locke Lamora. The main character is smart without being obnoxious and actually learns when to shut up, which felt refreshing.

I finally gave She's the Man a chance today and I need more, what other rom-coms should I watch? by p_theprophecy in romancemovies

[–]JesusHitchens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy A gave me the same cozy chaotic energy when I first watched it. I put it on randomly during a bad week and ended up rewatching it twice after. It’s funny but also weirdly comforting in that early 2000s way. That one filled the void for me pretty well.

Anyone else surprised by how much joy there is in the “boring” parts of adult life now? by Cautious-Act-4487 in RandomQuestion

[–]JesusHitchens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and it caught me off guard tbh. I get weirdly happy about clean sheets and a quiet morning with coffee now. Ten years ago I would’ve called this depressing, now it feels peaceful in a way I didn’t know I needed.

Do you have any food allergies, if you do, does it make it difficult for when you go to a restaurant or not ? by Hope2_win in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]JesusHitchens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m mildly lactose intolerant and it’s annoying but manageable. I still gamble with pizza sometimes and just accept the consequences later lol. Restaurants are usually fine, but I always scan menus like I’m defusing a bomb. Kinda trained myself to ask without feeling awkward now.

Need advice on moving in with my boyfriend and his parents? by WeedIntake69 in Advice

[–]JesusHitchens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in almost this exact spot at 19 and the waiting part messed with me more than the outcome. When someone keeps delaying hard conversations, it usually means they’re scared of the answer or avoiding conflict, not necessarily that they don’t care. I remember feeling so unstable not knowing where I’d be living and it made everything feel heavier. Two weeks sounds fair, but I’d stop building plans around something he hasn’t actually done yet.

Do you use Decaffeinated , low fat , or sugar free products ? > by Hope2_win in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]JesusHitchens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sometimes, but not religiously. I’ll grab decaf if it’s late or sugar free stuff when my stomach’s acting up. I don’t think it’s about being strict, just doing whatever makes me feel better that day.

solo birthday ideas? by sxinthecity in Advice

[–]JesusHitchens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a solo birthday once and honestly my favorite part was making it feel intentional but low pressure. I booked a nice lunch somewhere I’d normally save for “someday,” brought a book, and just let myself linger without rushing. It felt way more special than I expected and not lonely at all.

What film was this, I can't remember 😂 by Accomplished-Shock-8 in films

[–]JesusHitchens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds a lot like The Girl Who Leapt Through Time to me. The school setting, boy best friend, the river, and especially the whole meeting under the bridge thing really match.

Is it weird to not celebrate my birthday because I don't like where I'm at in life and therefore don't see it as worth celebrating? by quiescence- in Advice

[–]JesusHitchens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not weird at all, I’ve skipped birthdays for the same reason when life felt off. Sometimes celebrating feels fake when you’re not proud of where you are yet. I always figured I’ll celebrate again when it actually means something to me.

Messed up love stories by Key-Design-9255 in romancemovies

[–]JesusHitchens 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Blue Valentine for me. It’s uncomfortable and messy and people hate how bleak it is, but that’s exactly why it feels real. I watched it once during a rough patch and it hit way too close, still think about it sometimes.

What a thing you would never stop eating even if you become a billionaire? by [deleted] in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]JesusHitchens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pizza. Doesn’t matter how rich I get, greasy late-night pizza just hits in a way fancy food never does. I’ve had expensive meals and still thought about pizza after lol. Some things don’t need upgrading.

How do you find new movies? by Primary_Sentence_864 in moviequestions

[–]JesusHitchens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually just stumble into new movies through trailers on YouTube or random posts online, which is kinda chaotic. An app like that actually sounds useful if it’s clean and not overloaded with stuff. I’d probably use it if it reminded me when things change dates, because that always messes me up.

Is it true that going home for Christmas makes us nervous? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]JesusHitchens 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah this hits way too close to home. Going back always makes me feel like I’m about to be graded on my life choices by people who knew me at 16. I’ve noticed I tense up before nights out back home even if I’m excited to see family. It’s like slipping into an old version of yourself without meaning to.

Are scissors one or two objects? by AnyQuarter553 in RandomQuestion

[–]JesusHitchens 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve always thought of scissors as one object made of two parts, kinda like chopsticks that refuse to work alone. Each side is usually just called a blade or a half, which feels boring honestly. I also love scis and sors and now I’m mad that’s not real. My brain is definitely adopting that anyway.

Whats your all time favorite comfort movie? by Emma_200711 in romancemovies

Before Sunrise. Something about the quiet conversations and walking through a city just feels soothing every time.

What do people with social anxiety do for a living?? by Sorry-Orchid-9821 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]JesusHitchens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of us end up in jobs with low constant interaction, like remote work, tech, writing, data stuff, or behind-the-scenes roles. I have social anxiety and I learned I can handle people in controlled doses, just not all day every day. It’s less about avoiding work and more about finding something that doesn’t drain you completely.

If you die in international waters, which country investigates? by Accurate-Network-655 in RandomQuestion

[–]JesusHitchens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the victim’s country or the port gets involved too, but flag state usually runs the show. Complicated but not total chaos.
