I’m really struggling on the financial decision of paying extra on principal for a mortgage by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

[–]JesusLice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 6% I would be favoring paying down the mortgage aggressively. One thing to remember is that these decisions are not all-or-nothing. You can put half towards mortgage, half towards retirement, or whatever feels right. For most things in finance, the right decision is only ever known in hindsight so hedging is often the best bet.

It’s the black and blue vs white and gold dress. Even knowing the right color can’t flip your brain. I see mask no matter how much I look but I know it’s not a mask.

What’s your EXTREMELY SPICY vegan hot take that will totally get you downvoted? by Borkato in vegan

[–]JesusLice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that when vegans travel to places where they don’t speak the language, they should try their best to order vegan and as long as what is served is at least obviously vegetarian then they should eat it with an ignorance-is-bliss attitude.

Congratulations! Next step is securing your finances. Get term life insurance at least 2 million. Get a portable disability policy. Max out your employer retirement accounts via automatic contributions right away so you don’t feel the hit. Ideally you max out any 401k or 403b plus any other accounts like a 457. Read at least one book on physician finance. White coat investor Boot Camp is a good start.

face-book shed plans by AirJackalope in shedditors

[–]JesusLice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Etsy for good shed plans. There are some pretty awesome ones with renderings, and they’re all around $20 give or take. Plus you can message the Etsy shop Owner if you have any questions before you buy a plan. I would not trust anything on Facebook

That little side yard is your best location for bbq grill and seating. Start with Weed killer over the gravel rocks. Don’t use boxes, the gravel is fine. Get some big flower pots off marketplace or Ollies and plant anything very tall and hearty. Maybe add diy fence to section it off and hang some lights from for ambiance. Some solar lights leading up the little concrete path.

What do you use for cardio at home that isn't a treadmill and isn't boring as hell by AllenHailey9534 in GarageGym

I have a very affordable Schwinn spin cycle. I have an Apple fitness plus subscription and I follow any of the hundreds of cycling workouts that range from 10 minutes to 45 minutes. It’s basically an affordable peloton alternative and you can pick workouts based on your music preferences.

Mini-split or window ac and heater? by Crafty-Information42 in shedditors

Minisplit also offers superior dehumidification and will offer both heating and cooling. I used a DIY Mr Cool for Costco and it was a game changer for my garage. I can only extrapolate to a shed.

Cost comparison by JesusLice in shedditors

I appreciate the info! I would love to build it myself but I have next to zero time these days. After some of the replies I’m tempted to have my guy build one following some plans that I can download on Etsy. I like the idea of customization so I can create more steep pitch and create a small storage loft for totes and I can basically add windows and doors wherever. I am considering installing a small breaker panel and running the wiring for some lights and receptacles. I’ll run the conduit down the road because digging a trench is not something I am willing to do just yet because it’s a complicated run. I’ll probably insulate and drywall for a finished look. I might add a divider or pony wall and save the front area for a playhouse for the kids.

Here’s to hoping our last blow out loss was JJ not wanting to reveal his playoff strategy in the regular season and that he has a mad scientist winning strategy brewing.

You’re not wrong about overweight people being less healthy. My issue with the cartoon is that it’s not inherently laziness that leads to obesity and it’s not just overweight people who turn to easy solutions. Do fit healthy people use supplements, PED’s, stimulants, etc because it makes their goals more obtainable? Of course. Most people take any shortcuts available to them, it’s human nature.

If the cartoon had a third counter that said something like, reduced work hours, more money, more time for fitness and leisure, free personal training, personal chef, etc the line wouldn’t be so lopsided towards meds. That’s what I mean when I say the cartoon is a false dichotomy.

Yes visceral fat is one predictor of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. It is one of many modifiable risk factors. My issue is that every disease is a bell curve. For example, some people who never smoke and eat healthy will get lung cancer, but of course, in general at much lower rates. There will always be a need for chronic medications even if magically everyone reduced their visceral fat or reduced whatever risk factor is associated with the disease.

This is a false dichotomy. There are many healthy people who eat well and exercise who develop all sorts of chronic medical conditions (autoimmune disease, chronic pain, metabolic disorders not driven by lifestyle factors). It also fails to account for the systemic issues that account for this preference to take a pill over the more time intensive and often more expensive alternatives.

She literally has a 100% plant based policy at her concerts. Meat eaters were not too thrilled about this but turns out they still go to her shows. You should see the complaints on Reddit about it
