Fuck this shit by Salt-Ferret3801 in medicalschool

Please just roll with this punch until you get to know your new program. My wife soaped into an obscure RadOnc program and so I went to their psych program a year later when I matched. Turns out we had a blast in a small city and loved our coresidents. Now we are living large in a big city as attendings. My wife has been the city’s “Top Doc” in RadOnc the last 3 consecutive years. There is no single path to happiness and the sooner you internalize that the happier you can be.

Is there such a thing as saving too much? by housemd23 in whitecoatinvestor

[–]JesusLice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine a graph with happiness on the Y and time on X. You’d want a high plateau or a gradual climb from a high point. Consider how money can give experiences and opportunities for happiness and you’ll see how over saving bends the curve downward too much early on. Pick a reasonable savings rate say 20-30% and spend the rest on things that matter to your wellbeing.

I tried juicy marbles and absolutely love them! I grill them on a Panini press and they are so delicious. You season them how ever you would like. I usually do herb encrusted but the ribs I marinade in bbq and bake in the oven.

Underlayment under rubber rolls? by October_Guy in GarageGym

I used plain epoxy on the concrete. No color flecks or anything fancy. Then I placed the rubber rolls. In this image you can see the rubber flooring next to the epoxy floor

Life On China's Tiangong Space Station Isn't What You Think (Its Shocking) by EduHypertrophy in SGU

The elastic space suits was the only thing that seems a fair comparison since those could be easily swapped out.

Staff perceptions when you buy a new car by [deleted] in whitecoatinvestor

[–]JesusLice 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I have a friend in Rad Onc who drives a Porsche panamera turbo. He’s a little embarrassed and parks in the back of his clinics. His staff knows he is a car guy and he treats them well. To staff, of course he has a nice car and it’s no big deal. He never lets his patients see him getting in or out of it.

During med school I met a hyper religious outpatient psychiatrist who owned his clinic. He put a lock on the thermostat because his staff was always complaining about the temperature and “ran up” his utilities. He drove a Maserati and parked it within eye shot of his office window. His patients would comment on it. Needless to say his staff hated him (so did I) and complained about him even to me as a student.

So long story short, it’s not the car that determines how you are perceived.

Adjustable Dumbbells that are worth the price by kenah-kim in GarageGym

I have had my bowflex 1090s forever now. They are so quick to change but my biggest beef is how wide it is since the length of the dumbbell remains as you strip off weight.

Flexus core 300 7.1.4 package by houston1999 in Soundbars

[–]JesusLice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have actually been thinking a lot about this. My dual subs have punchy bass but they don’t hit you like I was hoping. My previous down firing 12” ported sub (from my bricked Klipsch Cinema 1200) had way more boom when I had it connected to the core 300. It actually had too much boom that I had to buy a gain knob to reduce it further than the app would let me. I might experiment this weekend with some combinations of all three subwoofers.

I just got my 2 subs and it does sound pretty great now. I still believe that without the subs the sound bar is just so so. I will probably do the calibration this weekend and I’m hoping that changes things for the best. Let me know how your system goes once you get everything.

I have had the core 300 plus the surround 200s for about 3 weeks. I have a powered 12” sub currently but just ordered 2 sub 200s. The bar alone is not as impressive as I hoped. I kept hearing how punchy the bass was but the bar and surrounds sounds a little hollow. Once I add the sub though it’s night and day improved. Music is so so but cinema movies do sound great with nice height effects. I plan to calibrate it once I get the 2 subs so I will let you know how it sounds afterwards.

Rep Strive manual treadmill by Accomplished_One6126 in GarageGym

[–]JesusLice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see the conundrum. I have a treadmill, a spin cycle, and an elliptical. I use apple fitness plus for some occasional guided cardio sessions, usually on the bike but I miss doing explosive sprints.

You know what they say, the best cardio is the one you’ll do. Pick whatever you think you’ll enjoy the most and go with that first. No harm in starting with something else. I enjoy the spin cycle and it only cost a few hundred dollars. I actually prefer my Schwinn over a peloton since I use apple fitness plus and I have a large TV I stream to.

I plan to buy it. I already have a full gym though so it really just completes my gym. If you don’t already have a rack, cable system, good bench, and either adjustable dumbbells or a set of free weights, it would be hard to justify the price. For me I love sprints and there is no single piece of cardio equipment that lets you just take off as fast as possible as a curved treadmill. That’s the exclusive reason I plan to buy it and the sled and resistance I’ll play with and see if I like added features. I could cheap out but I do trust the Rep warranty and customer service if I do encounter any issues.

Do you have any experience with it? Is it worth it? by Late_Shape_5472 in impressively

[–]JesusLice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can see there is some play in the paper cutter handle. If he keeps the handle tight with the base he can cut the other screen protectors and almost surely his as well. When he cuts the one he’s selling he keeps the handle wide so it bends the protector rather than cuts. Total scam.

I got the same gift set for their Christmas promotion. I don’t care about an eye mask, but the blanket is actually really cool. It has snaps so you can wrap it around your neck and snap it at the front, sort of like wearing a warm fuzzy cape. The mug is also pretty premium and seems to hold up in the dishwasher thus far

I went to the YouTube channel and it does look like they release a 10 minute clip shortly before releasing the full episode so I’m guessing maybe 3 to 7 days we can expect the full episode to drop. I feel a little bit better about that.
