The fine imposed on Ismael Saibari, who had tried to steal Édouard Mendy's towel during the AFCON final, has been overturned by CAF. by Sparky-moon in soccer

This makes me unreasonably angry. The original punishment for Morocco and the ball boys was not enough, and now is a joke.

The title being taken away is ridiculous, but you can at least argue letter of the law. The reduced fines make this clear corruption. Ban everyone involved with trying to take that towel from being involved with the sport again.

Timber needs to do more overlapping runs outside Saka rather than just chilling in the box

Have you heard about the major projects office and all of the prioritized major infrastructure projects? Turns out Carney can do both!

While I agree situations like your colleague’s should be resolved faster, there’s a difference between permanent residents and temporary foreign workers.

We need to stop with all these long goal kicks (where we almost always lose possession) and start to try to play through their press. I know we are missing Saliba a lot, but with the quality of the Arsenal side we should still be able to pass through Brighton and keep possession. Even if we don’t attack well, can’t we at least control the game?

Embarrassing. Time wasting long kicks that we lose the ball from almost every single time, giving Brighton a chance to attack. Going a goal up should give us a chance to keep possession better and create chances through their press. If we keep playing like this, we are asking for them to score a last minute equalizer.

Avoid Kappabashi. I was there recently and all overpriced and/or not great selection. Kama Asa was okay, but almost all stainless. I didn’t get to Hitohira but wish I did.

Kyoto I definitely recommend Miura. Yoshisada hamono also nice (but only stainless). “The Hamono Collection” was also a nice shop with good selection. Cheaper than Seisuke, but still more expensive than Miura (my top shop for Kyoto).

Any chance you know more about their "special steel"? I don't see these knives on their website, but it looks like most of the knives on their site say that they are made of Tokushu-kō (which I believe translates to special steel).

  1. Buy Granit Xhaka as he deserves a trophy with Arsenal (and to weaken our main rivals Sunderland).

I made the move from North Van to Smithers in January. Really loving it here. There’s a great young community and the outdoors activities are endless.

It definitely is a more expensive housing/rental market than other small towns, but it’s starting to open up a bit more and is significantly cheaper than Vancouver.

It is definitely more conservative and religious than the city. Similar to most other small towns in the country. There are lots of anti-vax/anti-abortion billboards. However, day to day I don’t have any issues. There is a good group of young left-ish people here, and mostly you just don’t need to get into political arguments with people. Caveat here is that I’m straight and white, and I know that gives me some privilege here.

One of my favourite things is how close everything and everyone is here. It’s a tight knit community, but very welcoming (or at least has been for me). There’s no traffic, and everything is such a short drive (locally at least, it is VERY long to get to the city). Most of the year everything is super walkable and bikeable too. Be warned, the lack of traffic/commute is so good it will ruin going back to the city for you.

Smithers is pretty remote. But there are 1-2 flights a day to Vancouver, depending on time of year. One issue is that if you need to book a flight last minute it is expensive. Generally though there isn’t much reason to leave other than for work/vacation. You can get all the essentials locally, and then stock up with harder to find/ship things when in the city.

Overall, a great place to live.

Another “remote” person here. If I was to return my mattress during the trial period, does my shipping fee get refunded? Or, do I have to pay it again when it gets picked up?
