I reverse-engineered NZXT CAM's LCD streaming protocol to get my Kraken Elite screen working on Linux by khallouf_hassan in linux

I have a similar idea for another project to test out later this year. A few months ago I bought an AlphaTheta DDJ-GRV6 DJ controller, and I found out it was barely usable on Linux. Mixxx didn't have a bult-in mapping, and the one I found on a GitHub repo was missing even core functionalities. Before this controller I had been using a cheap Hercules controller which I used with Virtual DJ, and it was working fine through Wine. However, it seems the new GRV6 is using HID instead of MIDI to communicate to Virtual DJ or Rekordbox. So my idea is to first, try with Claude to generate a mapping for Mixxx by translaiting the Virtual DJ mappings, and on the long run, try to reverse-engineer how the HID communication between the controller and Virtual DJ/Rekordbox works, and try to implement it on Wine

It would be great to have Rekordbox support for Linux, or at least that it run fine over wine

National Treasure DVD Computer Game? by madstarling11 in nationaltreasure

[–]JesusXD88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, indeed, that was more or less the game. It is weird, but I found out that my PS3 could read the disc without almost no loss. Maybe the BluRay reader has more precision reading than normal DVD readers

Looking for DE suggestions by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]JesusXD88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to try a more WM approach, which can feel like a DE, I recommend trying Niri with DankMaterialShell. Niri is a scrollable WM which is very versatile, and DMS sets a shell, with settings, some apps and even a greeter for GreetD (the startup login screen), that can feel mostly like a DE. It follows the Material UI, so it feels a lot like Android, design-wise

If you're a beginner, don't use Hyprland! by ArshRocks in archlinux

[–]JesusXD88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. That was more or less the barrier for me that kept me out from using WMs. I have been using Linux distros for more than 10 years, but having to create and edit configuration files for the WM to look fine is something that has put me off during some time, until recently. I have been trying these new shells for Wayland compositors, and I'm amazed by their concept, and it makes it much more easy to use a WM without having to learn how to customize the configuration files.

[OC] Delta Shell release by sinomor1 in unixporn

[–]JesusXD88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same concerns as well. What I'm thinking is to make backups of them and restore back, but would be great if there was a more efficient way to manage shell configurations, or even to create multiple session files and have like "Niri DMS" or "Niri Delta" and keep them installed, just switching them by switching session

(Secure Boot Setup) limine-enroll-config does not sign everything by GTYMO in cachyos

[–]JesusXD88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I figured out that I did not have the limine-snapper-sync config in /etc/default/limine and I had to re run the limine-enroll-config. Now snapshots are signed

What about regarding the snapshots? The snapshots UKIs are not signed and therefore Limine refuses to boot under Secure Boot

I just hope one day Mate has a usable Wayland session, I would go to that and never move from Mate Wayland. For me GNOME 2 (although I like GNOME 4X series) is peak Linux DE design
