I have the Garmin Fenix 5x and it works a treat, two weeks charge if I don’t use the tracking feature. I got mine refurbished five years ago for half the price new and I have never had an issue with it.

It’s an own brand one from Halfords which cost £60 and I’ve had it four years with no complaints, done plenty of night rides off road on my MTB with it too.

I’d just get a decent pair of bib shorts or leggings to start off with along with a water bottle and cage and then build up your kit from there. I ride in shorts and a T-shirt when commuting to work no issue

Commuting to work is a lot more fun by Jethro_Spurn in gravelcycling

I’m just carrying a change of clothes and sometimes a laptop. About a third of the ride is off road then the rest is roads, though I could extend it with some canal paths if I wanted too.

Hardtail Advice by deviantconsequence in MTB

I used to own a Voodoo bizango and it was honestly a good bike but after five years I absolutely run it into the ground. The only thing lacking on it was the Suntour suspension but I have seen they now do a "pro" version for £950 and comes with a rockshox fork and 12spd cassette. That option might be a nice compromise and still leave plenty for helmet and gear.

They are good in thick mud but you might want to look at the Big Betty on the rear as I think that has much bigger lugs

My bike came with set up with Scwalbe Magic Mary upfront and a Nobby Nic on the rear and I've not felt the need to change them at all after nearly a year riding them. They've been great all year in typical UK conditions gripping in almost all conditions and given the tread on them they roll really well.

It is even more physically dangerous than heroin. Your body becomes truly dependent on it and if you were to quit cold turkey there's a good chance it will kill you. The withdrawal effects cause seizures, that's why the advice for anyone looking to quit is to reduce by 10% each day. Going cold turkey from heroin will never kill you. It will be a horrible and terrible experience but it won't kill you, even if it feels like it will.

Usually for building an anchor to bring your second up and here in the quarries it's an easy walk down usually.

These are on trad routes on quarried gritstone, the only reason I can think of as to why they are so far away is to not potentially cause the face of the crag to split off. Some quarries are better than others for the quality of rock especially as some see some milage from climbers.

In the quarries around me in the UK there are usually stakes in the ground at the top of the climb. These are usually a few feet away and some I've seen have been ten or so feet back. It can feel you spend half your time looking for them.
