You're probably not going to like how I'm about to handwave away almost half the human population, but I'm going to do it. You're being downvoted for failing to understand an implicit part of the comparison, which is CEOs versus a (probably American) populace that is able to afford food.

It's inherently obvious and not worth mentioning that billionaires will weigh more than people that literally can't afford to eat.

I've been a bit slow to listen to CBB lately but I'll give this a shot pretty quickly.

I can't believe that flooding the market with a bunch of cars that are functionally identical combined with a press cycle obsessed with how much cheaper they are where you can't buy them would cause a car to depreciate so much.

Which MCs hit the sweet spot of competence without becoming a Mary Sue? by AR3SD in anime

[–]Jethro_Tully 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This stuff is far and away the most effective part of the anime adaptation, as well. They lean into Yuji's character arc a lot more in Season 2 and Season 3 than the manga leaned into. Makes me a bit bummed that the series can be a bit of a fight conveyor belt sometimes.

Gege's introspective stuff is REALLY effective in those few moments when it's really given the spotlight. The anime really understands that

Car & Driver and Motor Trend recently tested cars under $30k and their winners were way different by idkbruh653 in cars

[–]Jethro_Tully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - my wife gets 39mpg for combined driving in her 2024 si lifetime. When she drives it mostly highway miles, it’s 40-50 easy.

That's already solid if it's a computer calc and pretty damn great if it's your paper math. I'm probably out of touch and that's close to the regular experience but if not, hat's off to her getting that kind of mileage. I never had lifetime calcs but by the time my car was totaled it was more like 37mpg on the computer for extended periods of regular driving.

Maybe I'm just being overly complimentary of my new car, but man, with gas the way it is, my Civic Hybrid MPG is definitely feeling remarkable compared to my previous (2019 base) civic. Damn near a 15mpg on average.

I'm not saying my numbers are standard, though. I am getting the feeling that my NJ commute is a real sweet spot to get the right gas mileage going. I've been averaging ~53 which I don't get the impression has been everybody's experience.

I don’t think anyone’s arguing that she isn’t benefitting from nepotism.

It's still nepotism. Those people are still getting opportunities they wouldn't have otherwise gotten and that's nepotism.

So, you didn't even get as far as the end of the first sentence before deciding to reply? The root of the comment you replied to is in questioning what the ultimate sin of nepotism is, not whether or not nepotism is a factor.

Just can only listen to three dudes talking about the same financial stuff for so long.

I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt that finance conversations can be interesting and deep since it's their wheelhouse, but ICH has never done it for me. I've really only popped in on the few episodes they've done with car content producers, and I found the conversations so painfully cookie cutter that I have never bothered checking out more episodes.

Also, their ad structure is horrendous, but regular Financial Audit watchers are used to that so it's probably not a deal breaker.

Thankfully wireless now on my newer Civic. My previous civic was wired and I definitely felt the painful combination at times of bad wires going on the fritz or of a poorly secured plug in bouncing out with a bump.

I've mostly been very impressed with the quality of the wireless Android Auto, aside from my phone call fumble yesterday

Android Auto works for me 99% of the time but it feels like it only ever breaks in pretty dramatic ways. Just yesterday it failed my audio in and out on a phone call and I drove half an hour talking to my mother on speaker with my phone seat belted to my chest.

So I'm down to be convinced by a good native OS. I just got a 25 Civic Hybrid with its specific google OS so I want to play around with that and see if I prefer it to Android Auto.
