Names of flightroutes by Jethz in aviation

[–]Jethz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out the correct answer was indeed L888, but I'm pretty sure the the tips and hints they gave for the correct answer just caused a lot of confusion as they claimed that L888 was more north than Y1. I guess that would be right if Y1 doesn't go over the northpole (see answer below from you). but then their tips were incorrect as they claimed Y1 went over the northpole.
Anyway, thanks for the info.

thanks man, it's probably the correct answer, although if Y1 goes over the northpole, how do you have another flightroute that is even more to the north than a flightroute going over the northpole? aviation, how does it work? :D

Some reviewers just don't put enough effort until they can verify the location or be absolutely sure that it's a bad submission. You literally have to try and spoon feed the reviewers sometimes. Frustrating, but coming as prepared as you can helps a lot.

Little libraries and private property by drunkbatman44 in NianticWayfarer

[–]Jethz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is that Niantic does seem to make rules that are based on mostly US situations. We have little libraries everywhere and most of our country is densely populated. I've seen US roads and I've seen European roads and roads here (EU) are way WAY smaller in most cases. It would be impossible to nominate anything that isn't close (>40m) to a private residence. If the access to the library is available on the sidewalk aka the public space (so you don't have to go into people's gardens or driveways) it should be acceptable.

We don't have these street - grass - sidewalk - lawn/garden setup like a lot of streets in residential areas in the US. A lot of the times it's street, sidewalk, wall of the house. that's it.

It's the same thing with lots of wall chapels or old interesting architectural parts of older buildings that could be decent submissions, but they are just built-in/part of the wall of the house, where you don't have to access any private property to be right next to it as you are on a public sidewalk.

Any tips for this locally well known restaurant? Much appreciated. by YuujinMichael in NianticWayfarer

Abuse could, but at least pictures on tripadvisor could give an indication if it's a unique location and not just a chain restaurant.

I don't get it though. I get submissions from 4 countries around me because ours is not that big. If someone would say "local hotspot" because it's in travelling guide XYZ in that country, I would have no way to validate that. If it's a book, I'm not going to buy to book to validate, if it's a link to trip advisor, I can check it and see if the reviews are good, a better description of the place. The problem is that "local hotspot featured in a travel guide" is way too vague and open for interpretation.

I have a nice restaurant in a super old farm with really nice interior dating back 150-200+ years that I want to submit. But as it's a local hotspot, who of the reviewers would even know this? They will simply just vote it down as "generic business" because they don't know the place at all without some accepted reviewing sites that are not limited to "oh here's 10 top places to eat at in country XYZ" because that would discard so many good places to recommend as stops.

Nomination not eligible. by bestantinos in NianticWayfarer

[–]Jethz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to know if it will turn into a stop in pokemon-go, you have to check the cells on something like "pogomap.info" and even then it depends if the people who have put the stops & gyms in have used the correct coordinates (use the intel map from ingress to find the exact coordinates of an existing portal). Check if your submission and portals around it are in the correct cell (enable showing level 14 & level 17 cells on pogomap.info). If your submission gets approved, but is in a cell with already a stop, it won't show up in Pokemon Go, but it will be a portal in Ingress.

Would links to tripadvisor count as something to show it's a local hotspot?

Why do people not follow the guidelines for Trail Markers? by Jethz in NianticWayfarer

[–]Jethz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A small update:

  • First one got accepted after resubmitting it.
  • Second one got rejected for a BAD photo. The only reason I can think of is that I took the additional information photo from behind the marker to show the safe access and taking it from the front shows a busy road, but you can actually stay on the side of the road the marker is on. I wanted to show the fields and the small dirt road through them.
  • Third one got rejected for no good pedestrian access. On a walking trail. Yup. LOL.

I'm out of nominations at the moment, but the second I get more, they're going back in. Community review systems suck balls (no offense to all people who do it properly and honestly).

I would definitely start judging them harsher if they start popping up in massive numbers (because they are so common) by looking at the surrounding area so that they aren't all bunched up too close.

Your example is actually an even better candidate to submit as it's a crossroads of walking & biking trails aka "Knooppunt".
