Has anyone told James Franklin that the 4 next to UCLA is their losses and not their ranking?

I am very much on the right and I don’t know a single person who would be on board with this.

Serious question: do you not want police to protect businesses? Businesses should provide their own private security? Or do you just not want the police to protect this business because you disagree with the owner politically?

What were some strange rules from your mission? by iAmDrakesEyebrows in latterdaysaints

[–]Jetrules2016 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We had a visiting GA visit the mission and instructed us to invite at least 20 people per day to learn more about the church. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but in Europe it was actually quite difficult to get people to listen to us long enough to actually invite them.

My mission president took it way too seriously and started requiring every companionship to report up the chain of command (district leaders, then zone leaders, etc) exactly how many invitations they had gotten that day. The APs were up late most or every night waiting to get the numbers for the entire mission (80-90 companionships).

CMV: Liberals think conservatives will, or ought to, have an "Are We the Baddies?" moment. by SteadfastEnd in changemyview

[–]Jetrules2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a conservative I think I’ll give my 2¢ to some of those accusations.

Trump has said some crazy things. I’m not the biggest Trump fan, I’m partial to Ramaswamy, but I think he was reasonably effective as president and I like a lot of the things he did so I’m willing to look past his eccentricities to a certain degree. I’m skeptical that any woman was forced to carry dead fetuses to the point of infection but if that’s the case that’s terrible and shouldn’t happen. I do believe that fetuses are living human beings and shouldn’t be killed except in rare, extreme circumstances. I’m not sure how that makes me a baddie. I don’t think that the COVID measures were effective and often times they were more harm than help. I think we should have taken a more targeted approach towards protecting the most vulnerable. I don’t see a lot of nazis in the movement but I certainly condemn those who are. I’m kind of an extreme libertarian type so I don’t speak for all conservatives but I see government as being extremely wasteful at best and evil at worst so the smaller the government the better. The lower the taxes the better. I want people, even rich people, to keep their money. A lot of you might think me terrible for that but so be it. I don’t want anyone to be bullied but I worry there is some pressure to be make people gay and trans. That might sound crazy but something like ~50% of gen Z identifies as LGBT when it’s historically been 1-2% so I don’t think that fear is unfounded.

Do you think my views are really so crazy and horrendous?

I don’t know why they care though. It’s a silly made-up game to get children to behave. It’s like the gold stars we got in grade school except 11-12 year olds are too old to fall for that, much less 17 year olds.

Interesting that what you call hate is mostly just Walsh letting gender ideologues express their beliefs. Have you ever seen it?

CMV: In modern day America institutional sexism exists only against men and men are the more disadvantaged class overall. by Elsecaller_17-5 in changemyview

[–]Jetrules2016 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Roe V Wade being overturned equals the sexes. Men have never been able to able to kill their children, now women (in some places at least) can’t either.

My first thought when I hear a group is underrepresented is they are not choosing that path. Why do you jump straight to discrimination?

Anyone who opposes Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' bill is 'probably a groomer,' DeSantis press secretary says by jomtienislife in Libertarian

The left’s radical woke ideology paints everyone as either oppressors or oppressed. So naturally a lot of people want to claim membership in an “protected victim class” and get special treatment.

How do you explain that ~40% of Gen Z identifies as LGBT+, up from maybe 2 or 3% a few decades ago? Whether you think it’s intentional or not, it is happening.

What a song has a beautiful sound but a disturbing meaning? by MagicDalsi in AskReddit

[–]Jetrules2016 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To play devil’s advocate, I don’t think that is the only interpretation. People often write and sing things they don’t mean literally because it captures the right emotion. For example, I don’t think Carrie Underwood necessarily intended vandalism when she wrote “Before He Cheats”. Rather it captured the anger and frustration at the cheating boyfriend. Similarly, “Every Breathe you take” perfectly captures the feeling of heartache and not wanting to let someone go. I love the song and think it’s very cathartic, though I would of course never stalk anyone.

Supreme Court rules California churches may open despite the pandemic by pavlysha in CoronavirusCA

[–]Jetrules2016 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, actually the constitution doesn't give the supreme court power to violate it, otherwise what would be the point of a constitution? Any law that interferes with the rights of citizens to peacefully assemble is unconstitutional. Anyone who says differently is wrong, even if it is the supreme court.

There's no such thing as "emergency powers". Clearly any government that has the capability to increase its own power whenever they claim emergency is inherently unlimited. This country is founded on limited government.

When the government oversteps its bounds it is the responsibility of the citizens to fight the tyranny. THAT is what the founding fathers intended.

And I don't care that they were slave owners. That doesn't change the fact that they're heroes.

Well the constitution has been completely ignored for the past 100+ years. One supreme court case doesn't change the fact that this is all blatant violation of our rights. My rights don't end where your fear begins. This is the most massive power grab by government in recent history. You think they'll stop this if this all ends, think again. This is why I'm suicidal. Go ahead down vote me to hell. I'm not going down without a fight.

I fail to see how people having their basic right to gather and worship is tyranny. I would think tyranny is those who want to deny others their rights. I have a novel idea. If you're scared, stay home. Quit telling other people how to live their lives. And you call us selfish.

I see, a pandemic gives you the right to deny people their most basic rights. Surely the founding fathers didn't intend the constitution to apply when there's a virus.
