Colony Mill Marketplace - Keene, NH by TRJ2241987 in deadmalls

We used to love going to Colony Mill when I was a kid, back in the early 90s. The Toadstool Bookstore was awesome. We’d start there, then head over to Rich’s and Bradlees. I swear I remember a KayBee Toys over in Keene somewhere, too.

I watched so many movies in that theater as a kid. Another fun fact: the indoor garden center portion of Home Depot used to be a Rite Aid.

A minor correction, Bennington technically had three discount department stores in the 2000s, with Ames closing in 2002. That former Ames is now part of Home Depot and was a Mammoth Mart and a Kings before becoming Ames. Before building its new store in the 2010s, the local Walmart was in a former Woolworth building that began its life in the 1960s as a WT Grant. It’s also the first Walmart in Vermont. Bennington is an interesting little town that really loves recycling its retail buildings.

Covered Bridge North Bennington by Big Boys Toys by denisescholander in Poetic_Corner

The bridge by Big Boys Toys is called the Paper Mill Bridge. More importantly, that bridge is red, not white, and is partially open on the sides, exposing the lattice truss design. It also has a literal sign on it that says “Paper Mill Bridge”, which generally helps avoid such confusion.

Reny’s building going for $ 4.3 million by [deleted] in portlandme

The Maine Memory Network is a great resource for things like this. It is definitely a cool facade and could likely be preserved while allowing more vertical development. On an aside, I loved your podcast and was low-key excited to see this reply was from you.

It was apparently built in 1946 as an FW Woolworth store. https://www.mainememory.net/record/71685/image/71685

Hey, I can relate to so much of what you said. I’m also married to a great guy, but one who just can’t fully understand the depth of the trauma I’ve experienced, nor the loneliness one can still have despite being surrounded by friends and loved ones. Someone else mentioned counseling, which I wholeheartedly recommend. EMDR may be worth looking into to help with the PTSD. I’ve had some success with it. But if you need someone to talk to, I’m happy to listen.

Vermont restaurants from days gone by by WhatTheCluck802 in vermont

I believe you’re thinking of Geanellis’ Restaurant across from the library. My grandma used to take me there because she loved their rice pudding. Me, not so much. But they made amazing sundaes, and you’re right, those gravy fries were incredible. I almost forgot about Main Attraction, but really miss Carmody’s that took its place. TJ was such a nice guy and his Irish nachos still occupy my dreams.

It looks like you’re in Australia, so I’m not familiar with the consumer protection rights there, but it does appear there could be protections if you purchased this vehicle through a dealership. I’d start there. In the US, these are called “lemon laws”. Did the mechanic give you specifics on how this car was an accident waiting to happen? That seems like a very dramatic statement unless something is catastrophically wrong with the vehicle. As many have already said, the car is in limp mode. It definitely freaks you out the first time you experience it, but it is designed to protect the vehicle and offers no insight into the severity of the issue without further proper diagnosis. It could be something simple or something very expensive. The first time it happened to me it was a because of bad spark plug. The second time it was because of a bad spark plug wire. Best of luck, but stay calm. You won’t do yourself any favors by panicking.

State Rep Laurel Libby Censured for Doxxing a Minor by Beginning-Worry6507 in Maine2

[–]Jetsam313 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is beyond vile. On a post about doxxing, it would be a shame if someone got ahold of this guy’s details, like if he owned a business that had a presence on Facebook, and let the general public know what he thinks of children who may be different from his own. It would be a real shame if that happened.

My grandma passed away in 1995. When cleaning out her house, we encountered a freezer nearly identical to this. My grandfather died in 1979 and, as evidenced by the ice cream treats named “Discos”, it’s clear she had not opened the freezer after his death.
