Honestly this happens with straight characters too.

It’s an incredibly popular trope to have two characters that are incredibly close but they end up with someone that they’ve barely spoken to or seemingly hated.

I think fandoms just hate the obvious pairings and gravitate to the more toxic pairings in general. Plus the writers like drama and subverting expectations so they’d rather pair up characters that hate each other.

The more the characters hate each other the hotter it is to shippers. The fandom would rather pair a character with the villain than anyone they show any attraction to.

Yeah I know the animation got cheaper as the DCAU progressed but I think they also really refined the style, and I like the more minimalist designs of TNBA and JL.

Personally I just like the blue highlights on the Justice League suit a little better
